Honestly i think it shows weakness in sidious if you think about it. The sith are all about dominating an opponent completely with their strength. Sidious couldn’t do that so he had to kill him indirectly and then only when he got him weak by getting him extremely drunk. This shows honestly he feared his master and plagueis is clearly the superior sith lord

Sidious is much more powerful than Plagueis. It’s much easier to kill your master when they’re vulnerable. Sidious would still win even if they fought in a 1 on 1 fight.

It feels like Plaguies was working on truly unlocking the secrets and powers of the dark side and the force, like if he was able to go on unimpeded that he could've achieved something that far surpassed Sidious. Just thinking to myself here, I read his novel and he's a fascinating character.

I agree, Plagueis was looking deeper and deeper into the Force. He started to heal his wounds and could will a non-Force sensitive to die. It felt like he was close to a major breakthrough, and it scared the Force. Plagueis had a clarity Sidious lacked, his ego never got in the way of introspection. His keen scientific, methodical mind was what allowed him to progress by leaps and bounds. Plagueis was cruel with purpose, as Bane adviced, Sidious often pursued it for nothing beyond self gratification.

Darth Plaguies actually did know about Sidious plan to use the nuclear weapon. In the same novel, Plaguies told IBC worker, Silfer that was at Prison that Maul is trying to get a destructive weapon and that even though maul was unaware of its purpose Plaguies felt that it was a direct threat to his personal safety. Plaguies knew Sidious was not being honest from the beginning and throughout the novel would drop hints to Sidious that at times would make him question if Plaguies knew. It was actually a cat a mouse game and Jabba just confirm what Plaguies felt about Sidious real motives since Sidious claim he sent maul to the prison to kill the arms dealer radik.

The first time around, Sidious took a shot at Plaguies and missed because he didn't foresee Jaba the Hut interfering. However, the more direct and personal approach was more ideal. This way nothing could go wrong and it would be more like a Sith to kill his master with his own hand.

It's the fact Sidious knew, he only had achieved half of what Plagueis was capable of as a human against a Muun Sith who had 100+ years on Sidious as a Sith, when Palapatine started... Had Jabba not interrupted... Lol And for Gardulla to stand next to Jabba after it smdh

I read Maul: Lockdown and loved it. I highly recommend anyone who would be interested to read the novel, it’s also very gory, and has some rough language in it so it’s definitely not a kids book. But that didn’t bother me I absolutely loved the story, and the side characters. Seeing characters like Jabba, Darth Plaguies and Komari Vosa in the book was very interesting.

So did Anakin ever lose potential from getting his armed cut off from Dooku? Because we know losing limbs can decrease someone's potential in the force so is it safe to reason that episode two anakin lost some of his potential that early on. Or when people talk about "full potential anakin" is it with all of his limbs or just 3 of his limbs with the one robotic arm. Just curious ig lol.

@@AlbeezKneez And when it comes to Vader... yes he couldn't use force lightning but imo the other advantages of the suit more than make up for it. He's 7ft tall and weighs nearly a ton ffs and it gives him such an insane durability boost. So he can't shoot sparks from his fingers big deal that suit made him the most prolific Jedi killer in star wars history.

If I have said it once I have said it a zillion times, that book is soooooooo amazing and tells all the amazing background of my favorite Sith Lord. And you know who did you know what and destroyed all the greatest source material, I get it disney wanted to do their own thing and bring in new viewers. There should have been a way to help out all fans, what that way is….. no idea 🤷‍♂️. And I wished I had a better idea for it but I don’t, so I complain like most and still can’t fix it. Ohhhhh well

Plagueis believed that with the Sith Grand Plan coming to fruition in his lifetime, he and his apprentice could do away with the Rule of Two. He intended for Sidious to appoint him as Co-chancellor, and advise his apprentice/partner from behind the throne. The Muun thought that Sidious would be the Master of the Political Realm, while Plagueis would be the master of the Dark Side itself. By the eve of Sidious's election to the chancellorship, he saw Sidious as his equal, his loyal partner. Sidious did as all Sith do, and disposed of the teacher that he never truly saw as "master," when he felt he had no more need of the aged Muun. Ironically, as Sidious chastised a dying Plagueis for thinking himself excluded from the Rule of Two's mandate of Apprentice killing Master, Sidious himself became guilty of the same. Heretically delusional, Sidious never intended for any of his apprentices to ever rise up and strike him down. I honestly wish I could see an extensive, "What-if" book series about Vader, seduced through and through by the Dark Side (maimed- and robotic suit-optional), killing his master and taking a true Sith Apprentice of his own. I would pay good money to read that series.

Honestly I find his death a bit contrived. People on the dark side would be naturally paranoid, especially with the whole master and apprentice deal. So him getting drunk seems a bit far fetched as he'd never want to show weakness to his apprentice.

As much as I understand from the novelisation, Plagueis (it how it's written) wanted to end the chain Rule of two with him and Palpatine. He wanted to share his secret of living forever, with Palpatine being the face, and Plagueis holding the strings in the back, like a puppet master. He didn't thought Palpatine would want to have it all by himself.

One of the reasons I hate Palpatine so much and consider him cowardly is because he needed Plagueis to get drunk and fall asleep so he can stab him in the back. I know fairness rarely matters to the sith, but even according to the rule of two, the apprentice should kill the master and take over their place once they grew more powerful than them. If Palpatine felt the need to do this, or this previous assassination attempt, he clearly didn’t believe he was more powerful than his master. I personally think they were equal at most when Plagueis was assassinated

And yet at the same time, the argument can be made that Palpatine was acting perfectly in line with the tenants and core philosophy of the Rule of Two in murdering Plagueis as he did. Plagueis was too trusting of his apprentice. He assumed that Palpatine and he would rule the galaxy side-by-side as co-emperors, a notion as ridiculous to the Sith, who do not share their power, as mercy. He trusted Palpatine too much and his weakness in that moment showed. Drunk, drugged, etc, if you cannot defend yourself against your apprentice, then you are no longer fit to lead the Sith. While I, personally, somewhat agree that it should have been a stand-up fight given that I love Bane's initial set of ideals, after a thousand years of prioritizing cunning and deception in the order above raw power, these kinds of things are a natural consequence. Hell, Plagueis himself murdered Darth Tenebrous via deception in lieu of a stand-up fight.

It has been confirmed that at point Sidious was equal to albeit slightly weaker that Plagueis. The book describes Sidious getting a major power boost from killing Plaugeis due to a shifting in the Force from this action. End of Novel Sidious=

It was perfectly in line with what was expected of a rule of two Sith though. They were expected to use deception and trickery. The outright battle (Zannah overthrowing Bane) was foolish by that point too as it could easily lead to the discovery of the Sith. The apprentice had to kill the master without it being traceable back to the apprentice.

I know everyone says that Sidious is the embodiment of the dark side but in all honesty I really think he's overrated (vitiate is far stronger) and the way he took out his master was complete cowardice. I realize that Plagueis was wounded at that time with his breathing apparatus and all, also slightly going insane from midichlorian study... but i truly believe that Plageuis could have, would have been stronger in the end. He was engineered to be a sith, and if he would've finished his studies he would have been immortal. Sidious was a coward.
