2:00 I never understood this. You would think that each side would, at the very least be outfitting their most elite warriors (i e. the ones most likely to be facing lightsaber wielders) in armor that could reliably defend against sabre strikes. Hell, I find it extremely hard to believe that someone as pragmatic as Reven wouldn't make it a priority to obtain a full suit of beskar for himself and probably his most trusted subordinates the moment he learned of its existence. And for a Sith Lord, donning a full suit of beskar armor would be the ultimate status symbol considering how rare and expensive the material is.
@blackc14794 ай бұрын
Agreed for revan, but it would be a tossup on whether he would want his underlings to have the same protection . Hell, I'm sure the only reason vaders armor had cortosis was because palps planned on using lightning if he tried. (Though I would have probably included a killswitch in the cybernetics just to be sure) Well, that and palps dislike of saber combat.

Reasons to wear armor: - cosmetic, causes intimidation, and having an appealing outfit can make you easy to remember. Even wearing armor can make it more confusing to choose a place to strike. - mystery, one who wears a mask appears without humanity. - protection, even if not against lightsabers, it can protect from most other types of injury. But of course Sidious is like “we don’t need armor cuz we’re built different”. Meanwhile how tf was a hood enough to conceal his face?!

@@clone3_7 Palpatine never wanted a successor, sure, he probably did believe that Vader would have become more powerful than him, but Palpatine was going against the Rule of Two actively, only using his apprentices as pawns in the grand scheme of things. Dooku and Maul both thought they would off Palpatine and continue the Sith tradition but were both cast aside when their usefulness came to an end. Palpatine always planned to rule on his own, now confirmed in the TROS novelization in Disney canon and then back in the Plagueis novel in legends, Plagueis was planning for him and Palpatine to rule together for eternity once he discovered the secret to immortality which prompted Palpatine to believe Plagueis was weak for that, offing him in his sleep and planning to rule the Sith forever on his own, which is not the way of the Sith during the Rule of Two era.

"Amplified it like a magnifying glass" is such a lowkey insult if you think about it. A magnifying glass amplifies light into a bright spot but at the expense of a much wider spot of darkness. "Focusing the dark side like a magnifying glass" means leaving huge swathes of the galaxy open to the Jedi so that you can rule a small portion of it. I don't think ruling a small portion of the galaxy is a worthy ambition for any Sith.

The Stupendous Wave I am wondering what you think would have happened if this secario came to pass and if you could do a video about it? What If Darth Sidious felt Anakin's birth? Like he felt Anakin being born and after a year or so found out where he was born. Killed Shmi and trained him from birth to be the Prefect Sith. Reaching his Full Potential Both in Power & Darkness. Making Him Darth Sith'ari and overthrowing Sidious once Palpatine became the Emperor. As we all know, George Lucas said that Anakin's full potential was 200% to Palpatine's 100%. But after Mustafar Vader was only 80% to Sidious 100%. But that Sidious always thought that Vader's weakness was laying more in his mind, than his body. But what if this Darth Sith'ari reached Ultimate Sithhood in Both aspects of mind and body. And became the (Not) The Dark Lord of the Sith. (But) THE Darkest Overlord of the Sith. Reaching the roof of what any Sith ever could be in both.

Well, I think that Sith wearing armor was basically for the same reason the Jedi wore armor at the time… there was big scale conflicts, where having some form of physical protect protection above the force was a necessity. I mean, you could see that even farther down the line with Revan during the Mandalorian wars and even farther down the road with the Jedi during the clone wars. Once the Sith turned to subterfuge and a Jedi turned into peacekeepers the need for armor was gone. Heck even with Vader, his armor wasn’t to protect him physically. It was life support, and something that would strike fear into those who see it.

An analysis of the Novelization. I am curious if, by certain passages, you will draw the same conclusion. Also, does the Force favor Kenobi? On the Invisible Hand in the Novel, it is almost as if the Force itself possesses Kenobi as he gives himself completely over to it to where he almost attains omnipresence.

I thought it was practical. Lightsabers made armor almost obsolete (it wouldn’t survive a direct hit but a glance should be fine) however lightsabers were not immune to overwhelming firepower so for lesser beings using blasters it still made sense. As the Sith evolved they’d use massive force abilities to overwhelm their enemies while using the lightsaber as an option or backup plan. The equivalent in our history imo would be the Spaniard Conquistadors: their armor was practically useless against modern European firearms of the day, but against obsidian tipped clubs and arrows they were dominant

But the only real reason Vader wanted the talisman was to use it to increase his power, not becuz he was interested in the lore surrounding the relic

And of course, shrapnel protection was nice. Even Jedi could struggle to use the Force to deflect a cloud of shrapnel, or the pulse of an explosion, and it might be lame for the Jedi, or Sith, leader to be felled by a simpleton lobbing a frag grenade at them. I also don't know if i woyld totally give Bane his credit there. Once he had an orbalisk, they sort of just spread, and i think his helmet was as much a defense for his ability to breathe, as anything else, lest the dark parasites engulf his head, and they weren't simpky cast off, either, no matter how effective they might've proven to be. Personally, I'm still a fan of Jedi/Sith armor. As a longtime D&D player, who mains casters, im used to rhe idea that most wizards don't wesr armor, often because they CAN'T wear it, but that's not a premise in Star Wars, and I remember, playing my first Jedi Knight (Guardian) character, back when SWTOR was new, hoping to get armor like Master Ven Zallow. I found the boots, but the rest were low drop, high difficulty drops, back before the game's difficulty had been adjusted, so I didn't get more, and had to wait till the shop had something similar, which my Knight still wears, 12 years later.😊 Still, i can appreciate that the two don't; that the Jedi might refrain because not having armor might further incentivize them to find a solution that wouldnt be violent, while the Sith hid in a guise that qerent physical warriors, but psychological, or cerebral fighters, not advertising their true beliefs.

Armour for Jedi and Sith doesn’t need to protect against just lightsabers although it most would definitely help. I’d imagine that when one would use a force push, use a kick or punch and even when flying debris in a battle that strikes a Jedi or Sith that the armour would help blunt the blow when it hits that armour, whereas if they didn’t have the armour it would hit their body without protection. Because 50cals can rip a man in half doesn’t mean you shouldn’t wear flack or padded armour in today’s wars.

Bane recognized that the orbalisks had more downs than ups. They would have been great on a sith berserker in a conventional fight. Not so much for someone who had decided stealth was the best long term option. Especially with their darkside rage amplifying properties. (Plus that whole eventually maybe killing you). Real sith lord is way more complicated. The baneite sith changed somewhere along the way. (Imagine that, a sith willing to disregard rules.) Later palps was totally old sith, rule from power etc. Younger palps kinda sorta kept to the bane formula, be subtle, manipulate etc. But he went astray in looking for immortality, along with his old master and maybe others before him. He should have been training a successor, instead of a slave. So true sith is kinda relative, based on what version you're looking for.

red robes aren’t sith symbols. and nowhere in canon or legends does it ever state that. you’ll actually find in the visual and costume books for the prequels that it’s commonly associated to royal naboo costumes and symbols, very similar to handmaiden symbols and the most leading theory is that it’s a symbol of house palpatine or relevant to naboo culture. a majority of palpatines outfits are influenced by naboo culture and this makes sense. palpatine hated his family, but always had a special place for naboo. we know this for a fact as he had a private residence there and took very special interest in its planet freely allowing rebellion within its monarchy. so do i think the symbols are sith meaning? absolutely not, the robe colour possibly. but again more is theorised that the colour is more similar to a rich colour like naboo, we see similar palettes used for naboo handmaidens .
@TheStupendousWave4 ай бұрын
This is incorrect, in labyrinth of evil the Sith robes are seen again, specifically the burgundy set where it is mentioned as Sith attire, it is also mentioned as Sith attire in the Star Wars visual dictionary as well as added a while later for the Complete visual dictionary. It also appears as Sith attire in the Revenge of the Sith visual dictionary. So with 4 sources I’m confident in saying they are in fact Sith robes with Sith runes embroidered onto them.
@TheStupendousWave4 ай бұрын
The robes of Palpatine represent the transition of power, when he switched from gray to blue and then to red it is meant to illustrate his growing power. His transition of status, when he finally settles back on black robes represents the circle coming to a complete transformation. The black represents the void and darkness in his soul, black will always be and always has been Sidious’ true color, the one meant for him, the rest were simply a show.
@vexi_74 ай бұрын
@@TheStupendousWave Like I mentioned I don’t oppose the idea of the colour, but it does not specify the symbol. Absolutely the transition of colours over the movies and in visual adaptions we see a slowly move to red robes, but for one that symbol has never been mentioned nor referenced in any other sith related content as a symbol to sith culture. Maroon while yes is a common symbol to visually imply a darker undertone, there’s no source that says those specific symbols are sith.
