How can you not talk about the refs. The game in Sef was destined to be a euroleague classic, going into 2 ot, that you would watch in 5 years from now but the ref decided it giving an unprecedented foul on a halfcourt three from Parker where he initiated the contact.

Have you ever witnessed an ending to a game like that one? Absolutely out of the spirit of the match and extremely soft.

Wtf? We were behind and we got a 1vs 2 fast break instead of a set play against an organised defence while we were 2 points behind. Of course this non- call didn’t harm us. If only Sloukas was going for the lay up we would have won the game (that we didn’t deserve). You don’t deserve such a good team whining like this all the time. Long-time Oly fan here. Wont even touch on the last decisive call, for me it was a foul anyways and a really dumb one too (shame for Petrushev as he is a HELL of a player and had a HELL of a game too). But he had absolutely no business guarding Jabari so hard there like he was Dame Dolla, Parker was actually AT the logo with like 2 secs left...and he is not some deadly shooter...just let him shoot it and live with the result!! Barca must still not believe this really nice present they got with those free throws... Apart from that, and despite the love for my team, yesterdays game solidified what was really evident throughout the season. My team has a very distinct ceiling offensively and ESPECIALLY on set 5-on-5 play. We have witnessed that many, many times during the season. Really rigid, stagnant play when the game goes to long possesions and 5-on-5, no X-factor, no extra offensive talent to make a BIG play when it matters. And you know that really big, important games WILL eventually go to 5-on-5 play at some point inevitably. Yes, we DO have the best (by far) frontline in Europe, but bball games in 2024 are won or lost by your backcourt, your guards. And we just lack on some extra talent and personality there in my opinion. NWG is just not good enough as a central piece of a contender's backcourt (streaky player/ unstable performances), Thomas is a defensive MONSTER but defenses can easily play him under in such games (so the floor gets shrunk) and Isaiah I love to death BUT there is definitely something missing there...and its been missing all season long (Bartzokas knows and sees this for sure hence the quick move for Zalgiris' Evans). If Oly had a player like Kendrick Nunn, I suspect we would run over whole Europe this season, easy. Love my team TO DEATH, they are bunch of WARRIORS, but we DO have an offensive ceiling keeping us down esp. in big, big games like this one or in an eventual F4. Having said all that, I ll never underestimate the mental fortitude of Oly, so dont write us off yet in these series!!!

Augustas is right in that ataman did not help his team repeating the same mistakes. Pao was lacking aggressiveness from the start and seemed unable to defend especially with mitoglou on the court. maccabi was strolling inside again and again exploiting bad individual D and lessorts high hedge. On offencive side pao had a hard time creating easy baskets as no easy solutions to katash's zone seem to have been found . It took just 7 minutes of good aggressive D coupled with better offence and nunn going crazy to turn the game around. Pao can still take this series to oaka but they need to be committed from the start. Some of the players need to actually play playoff defense (mitoglou,vildosa) and some offence (grigonis where are you?) and ataman needs better rotations and schemes to provide solutions for them. I think he also needs to search deeper into his bench for longer periods of time. The almost always dreaded Balcerovski appearance actually worked for a while and then never heard from again. kostas in, makes a mistake, out. he played 50 sec. with lessort playing 30+ minutes how we expect from him to win the jump ball? Katash brought in bonzie to have a better chance but ataman forgot he has a super athletic and much fresher guy himself. Kalaitzakis can wreak havoc on defence and tire brown or whoever for some minutes. Ataman did good on game 2 but overall katash seems to have been the one with the better questions for the opposing team.

Guys open your eyes and see that the ref calling a goaltending on lessort (while it was clear to the last amateur that this was a legal block from the live play already) is the bloody SAME REF LITERALLY STARING AT NEBO STEPPING OUT FROM 0.5M DISTANCE AND HE DOESNT CALL IT! i am an Olympiakos fan. Its not only these "controversial" calls as you say. We see that euroleague tries to push some teams from certain countries which most of the times we Greeks get to play late in the tour.. Also not only euroleague but FIBA also but thats another topic..So basically in like 20 years or so (in my opinion only zelico's pao had euroleague respect) there is this unfair treatment of Greek and other teams.. Every basketball fan in Europe knows that when the time comes and you play spaniards or cska or turkish teams (after the turkish airlines euroleauge) etc, you would get treated poorly, most likely unfairly. It's not like we invented the wheel or that you dont see it. I dont understand why you dont speak about it. Even the players do between them. Its not like we are asking the cup each year.. And stop it with the rhetoric "you didnt perfrom at your best so you dont get to cry over refs". Not true. Who says i dont get to win if i play worst? Or if i stay in the game and steal it last minute? Also most of these games are decided in 1-2 possecions or a single basket, which means the other team also played like shit.. You re confused regarding the reason Pao protests about Lesor s block. There s no goaltender as initially the ref called (the same ref who in front of his eyes and looking at Nibo s feet didn’t …. see him stepping on the line). And that was resolved with the reply. All fine so far. And we agree it was a dead ball when they called this decision and that s why jumpball was given. All fair and square so far. BUT, the call comes BEFORE the ball touches the rim, so the game stops BEFORE the ball touches the rim. So after the jumpball Macabi should have only 3.8 seconds to attack. The fact that Pao didn’t play well doesn’t mean they don’t have the right to win. With the same logic Olympiacos in 2012 should give the Euroleague s cup to CSKA!!

8:32 '' the only mistake was to count the basket ''. Well the mistake to count the basket gave them 10 extra seconds for nothing. If they get the rebound of the clean block they dont have time to do much but instead they got 14 seconds and a better possesion thanks to the jumpball. And then pana for last offence had 0.2 seconds. This all came due to an obvious block being called goaltend. So yes the sequence after the wrong call was correct but it gave maccabi a lifeline they shouldn't have, because pao would have final possesion to win it or fail to score and go OT.

They say that you cannot focus on one single moment in the game. They talk like there were 20 points difference in the game. The decisions clearly impacted the game. First Nebo’s mistake which referees didnot want to see. And then 2 points for Lorezo’s position which is another mistake despite the decision change later. Maybe Pao would not get the rebound(maybe not) or maybe after Nebo’s mistake Pao would score. We will never figure out these because of referees’ decisions. They clearly impacted the way the game was supposed to be naturally played without mistakes.

Guys, I have to disagree with your stance on the matter of the ref calls. Yes in general, I agree we shouldn't get so stuck on the refs. BUT, Favoring a team over another, in such decisive matches in SUCH decisive time within the game, is wrong! Doesn't matter if the the other team wasn't playing good enough. That is irrelevant! If a team is playing shitty for 39':30" but somehow manages to be in a position to contest the game and go for the win, they should be allowed to do so! FIBA rules are same clock, but Euroleague rules are new clock after referees interfere. Anyway because of A even in FIBA rules there is a new clock. Is it enough professional for you?

I respect your show, but the numbers are the numbers, Maccabi is the first team on the catalog of Euroleague with the most revenue to the ligue.g To be precise, the top team in terms of revenue in the league is Maccabi Tel Aviv, covering 14% of the total incomes. So thats justifes a lot of things, first of all how the funs of Maccabi were yesterday at the stadium, Maccabi had an agreement inorder to play to the legue to play with no fans, secondly the referees played ok till panathinaikos had make the come back and ready to take the game, and if you had played ever basketball you know that with "surgically" decides of the refs the game can be decided...

That's such a bad approach to analyze things. Maccabi is definitely not bringing 14% income to the euroleague this season given that they played only one game at home this season. I would assume that they actually bring the lowest amount this season actually. Also, do not believe everything that comes out of dimitrios narcotic imagination. Maccabi obligated to play outside of tel aviv to be able to stay in the euroleague. I couldn't find any info regarding playing with no fans. The Serbian authorities limited maccabi to only 250 people as a safety measure because of the flammable situation in Israel. For the playoffs maccabi managed to convince the serbians authorities to increase it to 1000 and thats what happened. Pao's and it's owner is focusing on everything but basketball this series. We can definitely argue about the level of the refs and how they affect the game which i can definitely see and understand, but that's a global issue in every sport for the past few years. Have you watched any nba games lately? Its way worse trust me. Football has the same issue accros the globe. Refs are just bad, and thats a shame, but every team can get affected by that. It's not like maccabi got all the whistles they deserved in the last 3 games, and definitely not this season. Pao should start focusing on how they improve their game against maccabi which they definitely haven't done yet this season as they only won 1 game against maccabi. Blaming everyone around them won't get them anywhere. Nothing here was never seen before, and every team can find problems with the refs every single game. Again, it's maybe sad, but at this point it's part of the game and focusing on that, and on the fact a sport team had fans in it's playoff game (wild right?!) as the main reason they lost is just pathetic and unsportsmanlike.

Basically you are arguing in favor of not allowing a team on a bad or average night to win (even if it is what we call a "steal") as if this is some sort of justice to served. The thing is basketball is a weird sport and even when you are great for 30-35 minutes you can rarely capitalize on that in a way to guarantee a few bad minutes won't ruin everything. This means crunch time officiating is extremely crucial. Whatever the performance of any team is before that, it's "actually" irrelevant. Nibo's line and Barca's 5sec violation are astonishing calls, they are not a matter or perspective or one's opinion. As for the jump ball call, Maccabi got a full 14sec play while the right outcome would be either 2points for Maccabi and 14sec play for PAO to try winning the game or PAO gets the rebound after the legal stop by Lessort or Maccabi gets the rebound for only a few sec. Instead of any of these options, Maccabi won the jump ball and got the whole 14sec time. By the book the refs corrected the mistake but because of their initial bad call, Maccabi won an advantage. Generally a bad call doesn't mean anything on its own, intention though is an issue when it's obvious. Euroleague officiating is of the same level as we saw in Eurobasket where everybody agreed it was a joke (or a nightmare if you happened to be on the wrong side of the court).

I am sorry, but Leasort blocked the shot. There were 15 seconds left. The whole game is there. Panathinaikos had no time after that to make an actual organised attack BECAUSE of the call to count the basket. Yes, the jump ball was the correct decision... AFTER denying Panathinaikos the chance to win. And, ESPECIALLY because the referee that RUSHED to count it was the SAME that didn't give the out of bounds that happened IN FRONT OF his eyes (and he touched the line TWICE while holding the ball, not once).

As a Greek fan (but not a Pao or Olympiakos one) i can tell you this. Many Panathinaikos fans and journalists covering the team consider the first game a slaughter by the referees (they truly believe the referee decisions gave the game to Maccabi) and the happenings at the third game reinforce the notion that Maccabi is getting scandalous help from the officials. I don't know what's going to happen in game 4 but the atmosphere is definitely not good. As for Olympiakos, things are a lot more quiet. Their main complaint is the five second violation while the foul is mostly considered harsh but not scandalous.

If the ball afterwards touched the rim or the ball had gotten into ref's asshole, has nothing to do. Something is funny until it happens to you . I have been writing here about the level of quality of this euroleague season reffs since the first round ! Some fans from other teams have been trolling other fans when they made similar comments about the reffs . And this kept happening until last round . My question is this then : Osfp , fener , monaco, pao fans , how do you feel now that it is happened to you ? Isnt this the time we all agree that something must be change ? To me yesterday it was pretty obvious that nebo play was clear(he was in bounds before getting the ball) but also I thought that after the block maccabi shouldn't have 14 seconds(but today I read the rule on X and the call was right from the refs) On the Oly game I think with their statement euroleague pretty much admit that the game was stolen(if oly get the ball with 15 seconds left and +2 it is over in my opinion). I also believe it's wrong that the ref who made such an important wrong call will be in game 4 (there should be a punishment)

The reality is this. No matter how the teams played the whole game, after 39 minutes the teams are tied. Then one referee doesn't call Nebo out of bounds even after looking at his feet from 1 meter away. I am sorry, this doesn't seem to be a "human error". On top , the same ref gives a goaltending for Maccabi 30 seconds later on a basketball that clearly shouldn't have counted. This shows intention. The fact that Maccabi turned the ball after Nebo out of bounds, or that the referees overturned the initial wrong goaltending call and tried to partially fix the situation with a jump ball does not change the fact that in a tied game the same referee, makes two crucial mistakes, both on favor of the same team. I am sorry but especially regarding the out of bounds I just can't accept that "he made a mistake". I saw it from my couch, 3 meters away from the TV, from a camera 20 meters away from the baseline. Referee was literally looking at Nebo's feet.

Hi there!! Good work out there! As a Pana fan, I totally agree with Augusta's two comments. One that it is sad that we keep talking about referees and their decisions so far and that yesterday and so far in the "fight of coaches" Kattash (who we love in Pana) has clearly won Ataman. Even yesterday our team was completely out of the game for 35 minutes. I agree that we are not performing to our ability so far. But there is a big thing in this. Since when a team should lose and the game be deciced because they are not performing well? How is it possible that in all 50-50 situations, in the last minutes that you all have commented about referees go against Pana? We understand human mistakes, we follow basketball since 30 years and we are ready to lose if it is to be so. But when Euroleague gives an announcement saying that we dont have a clear angle that Neebo got out of bounds, more or less saying "you are all blind" then it only makes things worse than helping them. Not sure about Nebo heel. Need a better camera angle to prove it becouse the heel look like in the air. Anyway there are much bigger mistakes against Maccabi but we aren't babies. I'm an Olympiacos fan, we didn't deserve to win yesterday, we should have closed the game out, but shot real bad and coach B made some mistakes (in my opinion). I think the inbound could have gone either way. On the final play Petrusev did foul Parker, yes they didn't call many of those fouls during the game and it was surprising that they called that, but it was a foul. As I said we should have closed the game in the 4th but failed to, so it is what it is.

The response is, maybe focus on how the F you were -18 against a 7 team seed that playing without their best player in a small arena with 800 fan, instead of how in 2 posession maybe there was a slight mistake by the ref. Refs still performed their job better than most of PAO players, and much better than PAO coach. If PAO will do their job as good as their refs did theirs, they will win the series.

Sorry guys but after the Lessort's block there are 4 players of pao and only one of Macabbi that go for the rebound. It's not as you said that no one fights for the rebound .The ball goes outside the court with last touch from Maccabi players and the ball should be given to Pao. It's clear.I used to be fan of you but I feel you need to take off the yellow glasses. Since everybody is talking about referee decisions in almost every EL game, I don't understand the reason why you are not discussing improval points, such as seminars, benching refs for a curtain period of time or collaborations with other leagues(NBA) on official trainings. In Europe we mostly pointing the mistakes or the reactions from the teams but not the actual problem. Refs in EL are shit and EL needs to find an actual solution.

Refs were OK. PAO just try to put pressure on the Euroleague. They speak about the refs. They speak about fans allowed in? why do the care, just be grateful for you home court advantage. PAO lost the game because a horrible first half, and because a nonsense foul on brown 2 seconds to the end. If they'll realize it, then they'll recover and win the series 3-2. If they'll continue to blame everyone beside themselves, Maccabi will eliminate them.

PAO attitude is just crazy. I have no idea why they decide to go this way. By Euroleague standards refs are above average. They somehow fall 18 points behind the 7 seed who is playing without their best player in an arena with 1000 fans. And instead of calm down and fix it, they talk about refs and the fact that crowd was allowed in (WTF?!? just say thanks that you have full home advantage + neutral small gym for away games). Ironically in the first half refs had more (small) mistakes in favor of panathinaikos and they were -18. In the 4 quarter refs had (arguebaly) 1 50-50 call that went Maccabi way, but this was the best quarter of PAO in the entire series. They should shut up and play ball if they don't want to be eliminated by the 7 seed.
