Oh, quick retrospective comment, I personally do not enjoy true stun combat. I just think that it's better to try and lean into what your combat actually is instead of trying to pretend it's no-stun.

I personally dislike true stun games because in my opinion it doesnt really feel like combo, you just spam all off cooldown moves. I like no stun because it gives you control and battles are longer so you can play mind games instead of getting comboed every second and losing fight just because they hit you first

The funny thing is though, you can have no stun combat without parrying, but most people seem to not realize that. I should agree with the true stun thing though.

true stun is lowkey not that far from being skill based from parry combat if you and your opponent are given equal cirumstances

No stun parry based combat is really annoying to play due to the fact that it allows scummy playstyles and make the game less fun. Deepwoken for example even though there is hit confirm combos that might make it sort of a micro stun combat system you can still play around cooldowns and do weird setups while running around, The game now has more endlag on parrying so if you parry into certain skills you really dont have time to react apart from venting. Another game that did parry based combat better I believe is demon hunter. Despite the fact that the combat is sort of micro stun as wall bangs dont have counterplay or skills that keep you stunned to confirm something else everything was telegraphed and easy to read

true stun works but the combos have to be short like in actual fighting games ,its not fun to watch 20 hour long cutscenes. a combo should last like 2-5 seconds, you also should get combo escapes.

i payed more attention to DW gameplay than what he said 40% was "oh my god he's so stupid" the other 60% was "my man has a bleeding artery, give him a tourniquet" also you have the survivor perk which already spawns with a backpack euipped therefore can't euip it, you can euip backpack with holding left click with any other perk

Another thing I wanna say just because i wanna rant is the if you don't have good ping your cooked for example you press f and there is a 1-2 second delay before it starts blocking thats just me though 😭

Before I got better ping, I was getting 250ms normally in every game, AKA the normal possible reaction time. Hell.

Force has a good Perry system if you spam f you get a reaction period were you cannot attack but can doge if you time it correctly you can then use one if you Perry with a single one there’s also a cooldown on Perry to avoid Perry trades

Peroxide's combat right now is ass as they changed the final m1 to not block break anymore. So there's just a bunch of people holding in block in 1v1, but when in a gank fight, people just revert to sicko mode and pull off combos that would make SS/Tang proud.

true stun combat can work, but more often than not, it ends up being horrible to play. you have to sit there and watch the opponent beat the shit out of you without being able to interact at all. i strongly prefer no-stun or micro-stun since there's a lot more interaction, leaning towards micro-stun.

I was flabbergasted when you said rogue lineage had good combat, until you mentioned from freshie to super class. In that case I strongly agree. Ultra classes are an absolute detriment to the game's combat, some classes like faceless relied on a bug to movestack, you can do that with assassin but it wasn't ridiculous damage. The combat is also unplayable against tomeless players, especially because there isn't any gap closer skills unless you're a faceless or dsage, even with dsage the m1 hitbox is ass, that's why dsages always sit around oresfall to crutch on their abilities. The guy that made the strongest battlegrounds had an older game called "fighting game", Till this day believe it was one of the most fair combat (looking past their conquest races). It's true stun combat, but the regen is above average, so you need to keep constant pressure to get good damage in, a single fight could go on for like 2 mins if both players are careful. The combos themselves deal usually half hp, but the regen makes it not debilitating unlike rogue lineage. All the classes have their own unique combos like rogue, and none of the classes relied on exploiting a bug to combo with a class. The game was so small, but I had to have sunk prob a month's worth of playtime into this game. One issue about the game was the absolutely cancer community, these people are the most rotten people I've ever met. If you offend them in anyway, they will go out of their way to halt your prog as much as possible. It was kinda fun though messing with them, them pulling up with their squad, and running a hiding lol, then I'd single one dude out, beat his ass, and hide again. I had some good memories in this game.

Have u tried Black Magic 2? Class based fighting game with absolutely no parrying (some skills are just counter moves) though it does commit to full stun and really relies on the player's ability to chain abilities together in a combo as well as even getting to initiate a combo in the first place.

Generally, I find that parry systems lend to more RPS-ey gameplay, which isnt necessarily bad, but as someone who has most of their gaming experience outside Roblox I often wonder why so many seem to think it's more skill-based...

Ngl I used to think parry based was the best but I feel like parying shouldn’t be the main mechanic dodging should be and on top of dodging positioning parry should be the last resort but no game has made a system like this yet (closest would be type soul but that game is a mess)
