For example where I live sea turtles were thought to have been endangered for years but turns out there were massive groups of them, they just migrated away from where humans were.

In person they are fairly docile birds. Wild Animal park in san diego (safari park) you can encounter a shoe bill in there hiking trails in the bird area, it literally will walk up to you and you can tell its studying you. Park advises you not to pet it for obvious reasons. but for the most part it doesn't do anything but I would suggest you don't have food with you or anything it might wanna search for.
