There is probably a better way to choose justices without influence from the political party in power

Let me guess; they're complaining about Dobbs again?

People have been very upset about a small number of Supreme Court decisions in the past. Even when it was held in higher regard, some people were VERY unhappy about a few decisions. Roe v Wade was only one such decision, Bush v Gore and Citizens United v. FEC come quickly to mind. Even Miranda v Arizona, not very controversial today, was highly controversial at the time because it let an admitted kidnapper and rapist off the hook. The difference today is that some groups can't accept a loss gracefully. The "Win some, lose some" mindset isn't being reinforced in media as a rational reaction to disappointments. If Study Hall could teach people to lose more graciously, rather than normalizing their "Disagree means illegitimate" opinions, perhaps people on BOTH SIDES could be a little less bonkers.

Wouldn't be a KZbin comment chain without some "BoTh SiDeS" mental gymnastics. 🙄

@@Randomluck Well both sides do go get upset when the Supreme Curt doesn't go theri way. A both sides comment is fine if it really is both sides.

@@EuropeanQoheleth keep adding to the chain. Maybe next you can explain why it is Study Hall's responsibility to "teach people to lose graciously" when the topics discussed impact people's rights and day-to-day lives. Gee I wonder why people may be passionately upset with some recent rulings? Real head scratcher. Must be sore losers. Definitely not due to obvious political gamesmanship from one side to strip away rights. Both sides are to blame because *checks notes* one group is understandably reacting to the blatant collusion of the other, i guess?
