Its unfortunate that this story made this seem like an old persons sport. It actually started as a young kids sport. Teenagers and millennials play as much as 60 somethings. Our courts are filled with teenagers playing PB.

What you described is what is included in the major tournaments. The Atlanta Open had almost 1200 registered to play. Most were amateurs of all ages.

Big investors are behind the pickleball marketing madness. It is tennis for people who aren't fit enough to play tennis or don't want to put in the work and time to learn tennis. If people like it then good for them but please build separate courts instead of interfering with tennis courts.

I play tennis and pickleball and i understand your point however the tennis courts in my area aren’t being used very often and I see the transition of the courts over to pickleball. It really is about demand. If it gets more of the community to be active I think it should be supported.

Eventually, they will need to make a slightly bigger court. Pickleball as it currently plays is nothing less than a senior activity on a cruise ship…very little running and athleticism involved which limits the broad long term appeal as a sport. The problem with tennis is that there is too much running…the problem with Pickleball is that there is no running involved…

Have you watched the pros play or played against athletic players? It's a small space but if you are athletic, you go for balls the seniors can't/won't go for. It's a lot of sudden sprinting in multiple directions. I wore my fit watch and tracked 6,500 steps per hour of pickleball vs, just under 4,000 steps per hour of community volleyball.

I don't understand why everyone feels they have to either love or hate the game. I don't love it but it's okay once in awhile. It doesn't give me enough of a rush to ever be my primary sport but plenty of players of more athletic sports treat themselves to a bowling or pool night on their rest days to do something fun to mix it up. Pickleball is no different. Do you guys (whom this applies to) think you're sharing groundbreaking information when you enlighten us on how it doesn't require as much athleticism as tennis? Nobody is trying to convince you that is does, and the dimensions of the court are already letting you know that it doesn't. That being said, every sport has its levels of competition, any sport can be a senior citizen game when senior citizens decide to play it together, and any sport can be less physically demanding when people decide to play doubles instead of singles and cut the running in half. If any of us ever have the experience of Ben Johns alone on the other side of the net, I'm sure the sport won't feel anywhere near as un-intense as this video leads some of you to believe.
