what i don't understand from GW2 content creator is, they don't show the best aspect from Guild Wars 2 that other mmo lack of this aspect which is OpenWorld... I adore how the way GW2 gather players and make it feels really like the actual MMO, like Meta Event. but i rarely seen content about Meta Event from any GW2 Content Creator.

I agree the open world content from my experience is guild wars 2 greatest strength and that and wvw is what I would do if I was a veteran content creator in guild wars 2 . As to why the more established content creators don't do it I can't say ... perhaps it gets old for them after 5-6 years of doing them..not sure

@@MMO-SKY let me enlighten you as someone who started playing gw2 when it was still pay2play, so around 10+ years ago: While yes, Open World is one of the biggest strengths of the game, there were hundreds of people running basically in a loop to farm the same 10 events/bosses over and over because thats what brings the most money. Now? there is a lot to do. Raids, one time a week if you complete them. Daily Fractals, think about them as late game dungeons with changing modifiers. Some Events that have the chance for a high value loot drop. Strikes, which are like baby raids. And for most people, thats about it. Fractals take between 1.5-2 hours depending on the group, raiding is done either all in one go or over the course of 2-3 days, Strikes which you can do daily and take like an hour if the group is fine. Do a big Event for like 20 minutes and you are already playing for 4-5+ hours. This is the content for most people. Some do PVP, some do really challenging content, others fish or complete collections. There is close to no incentive to do Open World events anymore, other than you're completing a map and running through it and have some time. Guild Wars 2 was thriving in the WvW department, but it's basically on hold for a LOT of people and Content Creators because they announced a big rework of it. So everyone is waiting. Mukluk, one of the Content Creators mentioned in this Video, didnt quit Guild Wars 2. After streaming it for years every day, he was burned out and now streams it i think once a week, maybe twice. A lot more if there is new content coming because he still enjoys the game. If you play the same game for thousands of hours, you get burned out at some point. Does everyone quit? No of course not. But in every MMO there is only so much you can do at the End game before you get bored and are looking around for what you can do. If you have every Legendary Armor of each weight class, Light, Medium and Heavy, a Legendary of every Weapon, Accessory and the ability to choose which Runes and Sigils go into your gear, you dont have any problem with gearing any character. there is basically no goal for you to shoot toward until they release more content. The community is still thriving, with the move of going F2P they got a lot more people interested in this game. Content Creation can only make so many videos/stream that much content.

Hey MMOSky, I made a total of 33 dollars off that video at this point. Definitely agreed with your points and thanks for the sub! I've personally considered covering some other games on my channel in terms of general reviews or "a better start" style guides. But I will always have GW2 and eventually GW3 content in regular rotation. I don't know much about the twitch side of things, so I appreciated your take on twitch viewership as a smaller creator. Looking forward to your overall review, and what other MMOs you decide to cover down the road. Cheers brother 🤙🤙

Am I the only one who prefers the pre-twitch gaming culture? If I have time to play a game, I'd play it, not watch someone else play it. So when ppl have twitch viewership as their main metric when talking about the game it bothers me.

yeah i’m not a big fan of watching people play through things. i usually put it on in the background to hear the commentary. but even then i don’t listen to it every day or month. just once in a while if its developer news related. to be honest, the worst thing about twitch streamers is the ones who are truly anti social who have no drive to work with the community they’re trying to make money off of. if theres nothing but complaining, ain’t nothing gonna make them happy. most of these complaints are from lazy or anti social people who don’t want to understand the history of the game, the size of the developers or the fact that these players are constantly using wow in comparison to games like gw2… when gw2 carved its own path as a small studio. all i hear in these videos and comments is..”i want more free things, i want this game to be more like wow or ff14” its basically all these players who don’t know how to be social and don’t know how to play a game and earn to get what’s theirs. all of these reasons in the video speak clearly about how they left gw2 to go back to their games they left knowing they will have to grind again harder now that they left gw2 while gw2 players can come back and still be in the same position they were last to enjoy the game

ill give a example of a game i have yet to play and will be covering soon ....black dessert online ...the community plays the game and watch their content creators ..while they play the game ....allowing there creators to go full time and this helps promote the game even more. ....that whole conversation was about us helping each other promote the game you love which is guild wars 2 ....since arena net does not promote the game....or we can just let things slide and guild wars 2 can remain not even top 7 in terms of mmo popularity if we are cool with that.

It's a lot of things. My friends fell off because SotO is bad, I'm not gonna mince words. It is insanely buggy, even now, the tiny section of the map they released is locked behind 2 existing metas that are bugged and the new meta is bugged and the fights inside suffer from a huge issue that I think is a big reason for why players don't do hard content in GW2, you cannot see WTF is going on. Overload of players effects on top of boss effects, especially in the new zone, all the enemies and effects are the same colors as the background, everything is gray and maroon, then they have NPCs saying mechanica out loud but you can't hear them over player and combat sounds or they put up long text instructions for mechanics whike you are in the fight and getting hit can one shot you so you can't read it and they don't ease you into the mechanics like FF14 does so the new meta fails because 75% of the players don't know what they're supposed to do. I don't get how they expect pkayers to want to do hard content when the game has always had a problem with making mechanics visible and clear, you can die over and over and have no idea what even killed you in so many fights. Flashbacks to 2 ice dragon metas where the boss attacks are transparent mist the same color as the floor with like 50 players tanking the framerate and covering everything in effects.

I tried going back to it quite a bit later but leveling was not nearly as fun, no players for the events and some are either extremely hard or impossible to solo.

people complain about to do after the story, there’s plenty. firstly, most players forget gw2 is extremely social. meaning you should really consider doing things with other players including socializing with them. a big reason why people struggle with retention in this game is because they’re used to other crappy games that just having you follow point a to point b. if you find a good guild they will invite you to do other things in game. i see a constant theme in new players who are basically anti social-and those who don’t want to change, probably should understand early on that this game might not be for you. this game has various game modes, mini games and odd quests and systems for people to keep playing but often why people leave is because they never really tried to play with other players. those who get to explore wvw have a greater understanding of the end game, and most pve people don’t like to get out of their comfort zone. only those who are willing to explore theme further beyond their comfort zone tend to really stick around in the game because the challenge and social aspect of the game can drive you to come back day after day year after year. those who treat this like it’s not an mmo, tend to suffer the fate of buy and throw away

the problem with raids is that they launched without difficulity settings which meant they were far too difficult for 90% of players at the time, but at the same time there was no challange for players that actually wanted to play hardcore. This has been corrected to an extent with the addition of emboldened mode and wings 4-7 have proper challange modes, but the first impressions stuck and engagement with this type of content remained low, despite it's genuinely high quality.

I like GW2, at least I like the mechanics and the look and some of the gameplay. Ultimately, I quit playing because it was just too grindy. It was grindy quests nested within bigger grindy quests and I just got bored. I never felt like I was going anywhere or accomplishing anything and that I would never get into the end game (which I understand is not all that great either). I still look back on it fondly though, and wish.

I really think the Guild Wars games are really cool. They just really aren't for me. I have no idea what it is about it. I've picked both games up, gave both an honest try, but if its from the available races or how the gameplay feels or even the world, it just isn't for me. The point you make about lack of advertising is valid though, and it is impressive how this game has been able to be as big as it is seemingly only through word of mouth. Good video though, I like your takes. Subbed.

The bad advertisement hits hard in GW2. And that comes from GW1 years even. I remember it was like always the no 2 to WoW. I know the game from ...RL friends, not from ANY internet source. Suddenly a FF14 comes and sits as no2 , maybe a better game in some aspects than WoW ... heavily punishes WoW for its mistakes , really pushing it (they brought classic servers to gather the pirates from all around ) ... Damn they do the damage!! They made things moving and that's better for every playerbase!!! Meanwhile... sad thing ...GW2 was always there. Had the gameplay to push the market, PvP is better than WoWs ...BIG SELLING point and that's where WoW hurts the most... Still even after what FF14 did, they don't even try to breakthrough... FF14 hit bad the PvE playerbase , way easier to get into... way better for the casual crowd (the mass). At this point GW2 could follow with the PvP crowd... Nope... they didn't react. And... Look at it. WoW is WoW... Comes from ...30 years story or something... has novels/books. Warcraft was made an industry on its own.... good or bad. FF14... carries the name Final Fantasy... Gaming wise the name carries equal power with Warcraft... Those are names alone. GW2... even if it is/was a better game (depends on tastes) . How you sell...? Without promotion...? Without highlighting your main advantages? Personally i've played all of them (didn't played ESO...but it falls in the same category with GW2 with the exception that i didn't know the game from friends , no one in my circles played it and i don't have feedback about it). Everything else ... i've played. (You know that itch to find something better than WoW and ditch actiblizzard... makes you really try stuff). Content creators... Yes , people , i understand you guys that you can't do stuff you don't like...all the time at least. It's not easy. You do it because you like it and thank you ! But , if someone goes full time with it... man i compare it with TV commentators etc. (in a smaller scale...yet) . You're way in it... you need quality... you need money to bring that quality ...in order to make money and at least make it a sustainable job. You picked it not for the easy money... you picked that job because you have to do something that you like and make money. GW2 ...can't bring the number . And it is not your fault. You will have to do stuff you may not like (play WoW or LoL whatever...you name a game) , BE GOOD in that game , be funny...catchphrases etc. actually ...SELL IT , promote IT... So you can bring people to GW2 , then become involved with those people in GW2 because they'll look for you and you'll need that stable community in order to play the game you like , do content you like and actually sustain it... The question is... does it worth the effort? Possibly no. Too much time invested.... Will the company support you financially to do the promo? No... Are you so sure that you can make it and succeed? No. If you don't who pays the bills? And let's be honest... we're gamers... we're adults , we have things to take care ...You can't do any job for that matter , where you put that much time , you may put money in it and the whole thing doesn't come around. It's like making a coffee shop and sell 100 coffees per month... is it sustainable? No... Is it worthy to keep investing? No...

I played GW2 since it's release, up to the point Path of Fire was released. There were a couple of things that contributed to me quitting the game, in no particular order: 1) They abandoned dungeons before raids were even a thing in Heart of Thorns. Now I'm hearing (from you) that they even abandoned raids. 2) They got lazy with releasing whole outfits instead of armor bundles that you could mix & match to create unique looks. 3) When raids released the community was very elitist. One month after clearing the first raid wing, people were already gatekeeping the content. "oh you've never done it? this is your first time here? Sorry, kick!" 4) Once you were geared and did all map explorations to 100% in Heart of Thorns... there really wasn't much to do. Either achievement hunting or fill up those weird region or expansion specific metapowers that aided you in overworld exploration. I remember some content was locked behind these metapowers like 'holding your breath for longer in poisonous air' or 'higher jumps off the mushrooms' etc. 5) You know how FF14 makes you feel like you're part of a team during the story? You have Scions of the Seventh Dawn and you feel like you belong there. In GW2 you have Dragon's Watch and it feels like you're running a kindergarten or a daycare. They should've made you (the playable character) reforge & join Destiny's Blade. Braham, Kasmeer, Marjory are completely clueless individuals that have no idea how the world around them works, and neither do you. It's a clownfiesta. 6) NOT AT ALL ALT FRIENDLY. I think I had 1 character for every job in GW2. I can't imagine going back to that after experiencing FF14's jobstones and only needing 1 character to experience the whole game. 7) The constant need to gold grind only to get snubbed by price fixers on the marketboard. Its a very well known fact in the community that a very small group of people are running the economy of every server. They don't play the game, they just sit around the auction house and price fix. 8) I played for 3668 hours between the release of GW2 (I was a week1 player, not a day 1, but week 1) and Path of Fire. NEVER did I get a precursor drop for a legendary. Not even for the aquatic ones. Meanwhile ~50 hour shitstains would get their precursor drops. It was SOULCRUSHING.

the thing about those mini expansions labeled as living world seasons, it’s free for those who were originally there for the release of the game. you’re late if you had to buy it. that’s all it means. why should you pay for it? because it’s not apart of the base game and it’s not apart of the expansions. what people have a problem for is the fact that they don’t want to understand why some people got things for free and others didn’t. just like how most games have beta access. anet /gw2 just had a unique approach to it and it costs money to keep those servers alive for you to replay. that’s why you paid for it. the way people complain about these things is really telling that people don’t know what they’re talking about and just want more free things from basically a successful indie company. anet/ncsoft is not as big as other game developers. people who complain like this have zero understanding about what it takes to build a game and keep it around for 20 years. anet doesn’t have the same issues as blizzard, but all of these doomers think because the game has been around as long should be on the same level without considering the size of the studio.

@@MMO-SKY The main characters that the story revolves around, and which you Have to interact with, are all into same-sex drama, and dwelling and boo-hooing about their regrets and depression...that's not the kind of 'action/adventure' I like in the games I play. It didn't start out this way.

@@MMO-SKY when a game NEEDS to go to steam to get more eyes on it that's the signs of a dying game. their most profitable game? cool your game is being carried by whales who buy everything in the store. stay in your bubble of denial also pray NCsoft doesn't pull the plug like they did to wildstar.

GW2 is a trash game that honestly should have died years ago and is only being kept afloat by whales and copium.

The biggest reason that content creators in general quit the game , because the game is not done for people that spend 2+ hours at a raid/dungeon/mythic or whatever with a 100+ mechasnics . The game is made in such a sense that each and every player can and should participate in. And some people should say "oh there is nothing more to do" - well have you done all the achievements and crafted all the legendary items and comppleted the 100% of every map ? If you haven't , then you have no right to whine.
