Dont forget, Casa Pia because of him is now in the first league. He help them a lot even when he already manage Braga B. coach coaches the team, how they play who he wants to pick, he wont have a veto on players being bought or sold, he can have an opinion and even make a suggestion but the football operations above, mainly director of football Dan Ashworth and Technical director Jason Willcox will map out the team and look at which players need to move on and then draw up a short list of players that they want to buy based on each position, Ruben will be informed of their intentions but like I said he is not the manager of the club he is the coach of the mens first team

The role of a manager is somewhere in the middle of a coach, sporting director, scout, analyst etc. Historically, the manager had a much larger scope of work and control over what happened at a club. But, as football has grown and become more complex, it's become harder for a manager to deal with all these tasks, which is largely why former Man Utd managers have struggled because the outdated structure meant they had too much to control and deal with. Nowadays, clubs divide and delegate these duties so that the "manager" (head coach as it is called now) focuses solely on coaching the team to make him work better and more efficiently.

Head coaches focus only on tactical and man management. Club Managers deal with contract negotiation, recruitment, infrastructure management, logistics, etc on top of managing the team. Fergie wrote in his book last 10 years that he was more a DOF than a coach. And was basically in control of everything that happened in the entire club outside of the team as well. As an example he would have been in charge of taking care of the leak at OT. These are all things ETH was expected to deal with on top of trying to manage the rotten squad he inherited. People don’t know how incredibly tough a job he had 😂😂😂 I respect the man. LVG and Mou came from an age where that was expected. ETH didn’t. The structure Amorim has now is the structure that made ETH successful at Ajax.

@@rodrigolang6306 It is still 30 odd games of football in the league, tactics vs tactics, Peps way has worked for a while but when he came in many were saying the same about would his style work, with the right players yes, the league was never the issue, players were and that is the case Ruben will face at United, his 3-4-3 can work, but he will need the scouts to do fantastic jobs and bring him better players than he had at sporting and for less money.
