I was also 7 when pokemon dropped and also living in washington state. I remember riding my bike to the local card shop once or twice a week with money my brother and i got from doing chores for our grandparents. They teamed up with our parents to buy us red and blue. Every rumor there was came with the "my uncle works for nintendo" claims as NOA wasnt very far away and it was plausible. Going to school everyday was filled with kids with gameboys trading to fill in the pokedex while others played the card game and traded cards. What a truly remarkable time to be that age. I still play red and blue quite often and even though i own fire red and leaf green, i still prefer the originals. I know its purely nostalgia but they will never be surpassed. Amazing video

Not to get tooooo personal but what city/town were you living in at the time? I was in Kirkland. You sound so much like me lol. I fell for "uncle works for nintendo" stuff all the time. That literal line too. I was so gullible. The card shop I used to go to actually shut down because the owner tried burning his own place for insurance money and got caught lol. I remember my mom telling me that and I didn't believe her. I thought she was just avoiding taking me. So shes like "Alright lets go" and sure enough you could see the scorching marks and boarded up windows. Thank you for watching and commenting with your story and kind words. I really appreciate you. Sucks to hear your card shop got shut down but so did mine lol not sure exactly what happened to it but by the time i left in 2007 it was gone too. This was a REALLY cool video!!! As someone who’s in the younger age demographic. (My first Pokémon was gen 6- But i SOMEHOW played gen 1 afterwards after finding a Pokémon red cartridge with my hand me down GBA) I’ve always had a soft spot for gen 1 despite it! It’s just a really scrappy, rough around the edges yet charming experience! (Plus the VC releases of gen 1 & gen 2 doubled my enjoyment of them!)

Wowwww thats so cool!!! I give you kudos for being able to play Red AFTER coming in during gen 6. You have a really open mind. Yeah we both agree gen 1 is rough. I didn't pull any punches. But I still think the mechanics and choice hold up really well and make them fun still. I should have just said it in the video but I own 2 copies of every gen 1 and 2 game cart AND 2 3DS's that have all 6 VC versions on them so I can trade with myself. Hey, its my money and I'll do what I want with it ;) lol

@@LivvvidOH neat about having all the VC’s!!!! I only have silver and blue, but my sister has yellow and crystal so THANKFULLY the pokedex’s are somewhat completable. But yeah!!! I guess I really did have a open mind- I remember REALLY loving how good Nidoking was in Gen 1 and using him like every play-trough. I was 8 when my parents sent me to a small town in México back in 97. Whenever I would go to the city with my mom, I would see posters and knockoff figures in mom and pop shops. Eventually, my dad came over for Christmas in 98 and gave me a red Gameboy Pocket with Mario Land, Fist of the North Star, and Pokémon Blue. Nobody in that small town knew what I was holding, but we're intrigued. Then I met one kid (stuck in the same situation as me), and he had Pokémon Red, so we became fierce rivals on everything Pokémon!

I stepped away from the game when I left for college and then back into the game after I became a father and my son became old enough to enjoy the game. It’s been awesome to experience Pokemon with him and rekindle my love for the series at the same time.

@@LivvvidI’m simple. I’ll watch anything Pokemon. Would like to see what you’d do with gen 3. Timeline videos are great. Maybe videos where you go behind the lore of cool Pokémon. Like how does the Pokémon media reference lapras going from brink of extinction to available in the wild semi regularly? I always thought about putting out videos like these but I don’t have the patience to edit. How long does each video take to get clips for?
@Livvvid17 күн бұрын
I'm excited about gen 3 because I never sank my teeth into it much outside of the gen 1 remakes. It was at a time where I got older and into other IPs like Yu Gi Oh and the original xbox Halo. but I want to stream myself playing RSE and edit the videos from there. Do you think you'd care if I did videos exactly like this one but recorded from a stream where you could see me at the bottom left when I used footage? I would still narrate over it, have music, and edits just like this. As far as how long it takes to edit, really not that long man. Not to me at least. This one took me probably 6 hours but it went by quick. My videos that are sub 10 minutes only take 2 hours max. I actually enjoy the editing process because I can be creative and have fun with it. My least favorite part is recording the audio. Thats the most time consuming part. Writing the script then reading it can be really annoying lol.

@bartelvandervelden9894Ай бұрын
If you like games as Zelda BotW, you've probably not lost the wonder. I personally have fallen out of love with the more recent gens (Sun was also the last one I bought). I personally think that the new games don't give room to wander and wonder. Routes and towns feel more as a checklist of obstacles and services in stead of places in a fictional world. The reduction of (post game) content since the games went 3D is widely discussed on youtube and elsewhere, but X&Y still had a point of view that made small routes feel a bit larger, because you couldn't see the next town ahead of you. From Sun&Moon onwards the world not only looks tiny, but also feels like it (or is incredibly empty and stretched out)
@LivvvidАй бұрын
hey bart. I think you'll like my content because you sound a lot like me. I'm working my way up the gens and will explain where I think the series totally fell off. I do play zelda! As someone who used the MissingNo cheat all the time, I can vouche that I never would have stumbled upon it by accident and only found out because someone told me. That said, I don't think Focus Energy is excusable because everyone has tried it before and the glitch had no positives, unlike MissingNo. I can justify Wrap and Sleeplock as making sense even though they aren't fun, but Focus Energy is only broke because of a programming error and the reason for that error seems to be Gen 1 not being built well rather than rushed and not allowed proper care. That said, Gen 1 is a treasure and it did far more right than wrong. I don't think any Gen will ever match its sense of rustic adventure or the surprise of Giovanni being the 8th Gym Leader or Your Rival being the League Champion.
