Love the video! When I last rewatched Ponyo, I was really struck by how much better it was than even I remembered it. I feel like people dismiss it a bit despite the high regard Totoro and Kiki's are generally held in. All three are quite brilliant representations of how children see the world, from the magic and whimsy to the angst. Gotta love how Miyazaki never talks down to the children these films are aimed at. The mother in Ponyo is one of my favorite characters Miyazaki has written.

I cried at the article when reading it, as a woman with autism. It made me feel very emotional maybe this movie would be fun to watch.

As a daycare worker/babysitter a small moment that really amused me and showed how realistic the child characters were was when ponyo and sosuke were in the boat and pointing out the different sea creatures and naming them. If theres one thing children like to do, it’s identify animals

As someone with autism, I can definitely relate to this a lot. Very good summary, and thankful for you all.

I think it is amazing. It definitely should have won an Oscar over WALL-E. WALL-E is just boring. Ponyo is miles better thah that, or other movies of 2008 (e.g. Bolt,Kung fu panda).

Movie is so ass and overrated. Worst Ghibli film next to EarthSea by far. Animation looks good but the story and plot is terrible. No likable characters and the only sensible adult is fujimoto. Shitshow
@Grugged10 ай бұрын
Woah man how are there no likeable characters? Ponyo? Lisa? Sosuke? Man I think this says more about you than the movie, you don't have to like it but don't cry about it and disregard it as filth. Def my favorite Ghibli movie bc Ponyo looks identical to my little sister and it makes me remember how quickly she's growing up and how little time I have left to witness it.
