Dennō Senshi Porygon - Porygon is a Pokemon that is looked down upon in the Pokemon Community, as well as the world, (But not during Pokemon GO's Porygon Community Day!) due to the supposed seizures it cause in a banned Pokemon episode that send hundreds of children to the hospital. But people don’t know of it's legacy, how it saved the Pokemon franchise, and how it never did anything wrong in the first place. Today we’ll be talking about Porygon and why it shouldn't be banned from the anime and how it actually managed to save Pikachu as well as the Pokemon series as a whole.

For those of you that watched this video 2+ years ago, this actually isn't a re-upload of that video! It's a remake of that video since the old video got banned by ShoPro, and since I had lost the video file as well. There is more than 1 flashing lights scenes. There is one when anti virus launches something that looks like hyper beam at team rocket and then you can see ash riding on porygon with terrified face while a huge circle which keeps flashing red and blue is behind them. There also is one when the anti virus launches another thing which makes porygon slowly fell while background is flashing red and blue lights. Shortly after that scene is a scene with porygon flying up and down while background is another red and blue flashing lights. All of the seizure scenes were made by the anti virus which nurse joy installed..

Ok here's the correct way to go Step 1. Put Porygon back into the anime, maybe give Ash or Team Rocket a Porygon [2 or normal for Ash but Z for Team Rocket] Step 2. Go to the original episode and replace the flashing lights with normal explosions Step 3. Make the Porygon line Rotom's rival, that would be hilarious

I never hated Porygon as I only found out about ESP later in life but I never let the idea get further then "oh that's a shame." In a way Porygon was one of my favorite Pokemon, I think it's cute. Good video and I like how indepth with the "it was actually Pikachu's fault" idea.

Porygons ban is basically like a real world unfair court trial. Locking up (banning) an innocent man (Porygon) while the real criminal is still on the loose (pikachu) they shouldnt have banned porygon and its evolutions. Porygon shouldn't have been banned. Not even to defend Pikachu. Porygon should have appeared in a better episode and it's evolution line should have gotten episodes in the Johto and Sinnoh sagas. We all knew it was Pikachu. Pop culture blamed it on Pikachu. If the real culprit can appear in every episode and remain the face of Pokémon and keep on appearing in Super Smash Bros, why should Porygon be banned? Electric soldier porygon isn't a bad episode. Its plot is unique. The side character was good. The only thing I would say is terrible about it is its animation. Some of the scenes are so badly animated that they didnt even bother animating porygon fly, they simply moved him up. It looks like one of those youtuber's animation that isnt even animation but pictures continously reused. And the explosions were lazy, 4 of them are simply red and blue flashing.

@@kjone5086 it was team rocket's fault really. But ultimately it was a mistake. As long as they don't repeat it, then it should be fine. It was a mistake on the animator's part, too many bright colors flashing too quickly. They didn't know it would cause that, and it was an honest to goodness mistake. As long as they don't repeat that mistake, then it is fine for the porygon line to be in the show.

What I really think is dumb is that Porygon got not one but TWO evolutions. Once in generation 2 and again in generation 4. It was banned, but apparently it wasn't bad enough to be forgotten by the Pokemon design team.

Porygon is one of my favorite Pokémon like imagine Tails from the Sonic franchise actually owns one! Tails owning a Porygon would be cool!! Like he could fix Porygon Z and make it to Porygon 3!!!! While I agree that it would be better for Porygon to be blamed for the incident than Pikachu, I don't think that any Pokemon should have been banned, at least not permanently. After all, the problem wasn't Pikachu or Porygon themselves, but rather the show's effects.

Clefairy and Porygon should be homies They both are gen 1 normal types (Prior to gen 6) with huge move pools and are special attackers, even tho they have moves that encourage the use of a physical set (Belly Drum and sharpen) Also they both got their entire careers ruined by the ####### rat

it is likely that the effects of flashing lights on some people were not as well known back then. that's the problem. if they were, then they wouldn't even have the flashing lights sequence in the scene. but they didn't know, or at least it's likely most people would not have known.

I think a Pokemon series without pickachu would have ended up being something like this weird manga in which Red/Ash has a Clafairy (the Pokemon intended to be the original mascot) maybe even a Dr. Slump like series IF they took the same route as the manga. I honestly don't know if that would mean that the series would be either dead/unknown on the west (probably).

I'm surprised you didn't mention Porygon having a red and blue color scheme, making it all the more easier to frame. Serious question though regarding the notion of Porygon 'saving' the show by taking the hit - let's say this was a miscellaneous episode that didn't have a "showcase star" Pokemon and this happened (still at the hands of Pikachu), do you really think the show would have been cancelled or Pikachu would have been written off? That's a bit of a stretch, the hiatus and apology and pulling that episode would have probably been enough. That's interesting though about the connection to the following episode, never knew that. But also the whole evolution line being banned is a little silly - you probably are aware of Kadabra being banned after the Gellar lawsuit, with its last appearance ever being sometime in the middle of Season 9. But that didn't stop the rest of its family! In fact, in Diamond/Pearl Sinnoh the anime featured all of the 'ally' trainers from the game that fight alongside you with their respective Pokemon, except for one who was supposed to have Kadabra but they gave her Abra instead. So I don't get the point in banning the whole evolution line. Sure it's not as serious as seizures, but a lawsuit is a lawsuit is a lawsuit.

You mean dr akihabara? But he created porygons and created pokemon transfer system. He simply transfered them to cyberspace and letting them borrow his last porygon. He telled them that dying in cyberspace leads them to litterally dying, but nurse joy and some tech support guy installing a anti virus. This anti virust system created 4 explosions which flashed red and blue (and purple). All pikachu did was to explode some missles early so they dont reach porygon but he exploded 2 at once so this lead to a little bit bigger explosion. While other 2 missles break the portal but they escaped the portal at the right time but dr akihabara's house was fully destroyed and he became deppressed. They also survived that explosion and go to pokemon center to heal pikachu and to be continued screen happens, at the end of the episode a new song plays which stayed for around 10 episodes.

Has anybody actually watched the real episode? The flashing lights happened 2 or 3 times before Pikachu did anything. The ONLY thing at fault were the projectiles that the anti-virus fired.
