Thankyou so much Father, I’m actually a layperson , but this helped and strengthened me enormously, I pray the divine office and am committed to mental prayer but sometimes it’s a struggle especially when one feels so alone in trying to live this way

I am in exactly the same situation as you-- a layperson, trying to live a life of prayer in "the world," faithful to the Divine Office and mental prayer. I, too, often struggle with feeling alone in this kind of life, and I find Fr Wang's talks so very helpful. I did try a vocation as a contemplative nun, but I had to leave before I made vows. I will pray for you, and please pray for me. God bless.

Hi Margaret and Leticia, me too. You can feel really alone in this life as a lay person because even in the churches I haven’t really come across many people who try to live a life of prayer , you come across a lot of people who pray of course but not many people who are single and really wanting to devote themselves to God but outside of a convent. I guess that in life some roads we choose to walk are not necessarily crowded with people but they are lone paths. And I think God allows this so as to foster a deeper dependence on Him! Sometimes I think God literally wants us to have Him as our ONLY friend , in order that we can really move into His presence more deeply. It may only be for a period of your life and then maybe life will open up again but whilst you’re on this path you just have to keep going and keep moving forward day by day. Bible reading helps, sermons like on this channel really help, the Rosary really helps. God bless. Xx
