I thought one of the commandments of God is to not associate anything or anyone with Him. This sounds like a form of intercession. You can just pray to God directly right
@Curlyteacher537

We only ever pray to G-d directly. The Rebbe was a major and very beloved spiritual leader and mentor and she was paying respects by praying to G-d at the Rebbe’s gravesite.

@@Curlyteacher537 But is there a difference between a prayer done at the rebbes gravesight and say at home. If there is a perceived higher value in prayer at the rabbis gravesight then that is a form of intercession. Just as the christians who pray in Jesus name. That would be wrong right

@@zestajones1990 You can pray anywhere at any time because G-d is everywhere. It can feel more meaningful on special occasions or special places when you are surrounded by so many other Jews who practice like you, but a prayer is a prayer. They never pray in the name of the Rebbe, since you can only pray in G-d’s name.

@@Curlyteacher537 ok this makes sense but you do realise how misunderstandings can occur. This is how idol worship was born in ancient times. People started venerating saints and prophets and making forms out of them.

I’m Orthodox Christian and we do believe in the intercession of the saints as well. Protestants (and others) have difficulty understanding this form of prayer and are quick to call it idolatry - but just as asking a living person to pray or make intercession for you is not idolatry, belief in those who have died in body have not died in spirit and are close to God and can make intercession on our (the living) behalf in the afterlife is not worship idols. And really we can see even from this Jewish family the ancient practices of intercession from the dead is real and valid form of prayer. The Bible says that the prayers of the righteous availing much. So reaching out to those who are righteous is not a judgment on the persons ability to reach or pray to God directly but about recognizing the power of prayer and connecting to God.

@@AzmiMaulanaHamdanino that's not what she said. The concept of Tawheed (oneness of God) in Islam is very clear, and we should not go to a dead person's grave to ask them anything, because the Quran says very clearly that those who have passed on (even prophets, saints, holy people) cannot do anything for us or help us. We believe prophets, and the Prophet Muhammad pbuh will have the power of intercession with God and may speak for certain people on the Day of Judgement, but currently cannot do this. There is a co concept of 'wasila' which is where you may ask God in such a way as to invoke his love for certain people e.g. saying Oh God of Muhammad, Oh God of Moses etc and this is OK as long as you are always addressing God directly and you never directly address God's creation when praying. Basically it's good to avoid shirk (associating partners with God) and be on the safe side and always just pray directly to God as He tells us to. He says he is closer to us than our jugular vein. We do not need to ask anyone else to help us speak to him, he has already given us a direct line to him so to speak. Sadly some Muslim do end up committing shirk at gravesites of saints and prophets, may God guide us all.

I have the most crazy story about that place. The story begins in Tzfat, Israel; where I, let's say, reverted to Judaism (although that's a Muslim term), the day of my "conversion" I went on a walk by myself feeling really bad about having gone through the conversion process bc I mostly did it bc my grandfather (who was a widower from his maternal cousin) told me at 13 that we're all Jews, which means that we're like gypsies that ended up in Spain and then in the mountains of Puerto Rico but we're Jews from Jerusalem and that if I forget Jerusalem my tongue will stick to the roof of my mouth. But I'm like seriously the worst candidate to be a convert. Like it makes no sense that I converted because I knew that I couldn't do it. This "religion" is too difficult if you're not born in it. Anyway, the day of my conversion I ran into a crazy American guy who was known in Tzfat for speaking to himself and not being very... How can I say it... He had difficulty putting coherent sentences together. I don't know his name or what was he doing in Tzfat but there's a lot English speakers there. The guy who was talking to himself saw me from the corner of his eye while I was on that sad walk and approached me and said in very clear English: What is your yichus? And I looked at him and said: what do you mean? (my yeshiva didn't use Yiddish so I didn't recognize the word) And he said: Who is your ancestor?! And I scuffed since he didn't know that I just had a conversion in the woods (later on I had everything done again with the Beith Din, without pronouncing the name and after saying amen to the beracha of a convert). And he said "look it up, it's a big Rabbi from Spain!" And I was like ok thanks and ok Hashem, funny answer thank you. Then there was a war (2006) and it was my opportunity to... Leave without feeling guilty and go back to being my normal me. Four years later I went to that place, the gravesite of the Rebbe in New York just out of curiosity and guess who was there??? Yes. The crazy guy. I went to him and said "Hey, remember me?" And he just stared and said something like tadadadadada. I laughed but it's one of those moments where I'm like hmm. BTW the Chabad Rabbi in Puerto Rico is the most AWESOME and you should go there to speak about Hurricane Maria which happened on Rosh Hashanah. He helped my mom and dad with an emergency kit I was living in NY back then and there was no electricity in the entire island. I'm still terrible but now I live in Israel❤️ where I live a secular life but I just figured that this is the best place for any Jew to learn how to speak Hebrew, how to absorb Judaism by just being and to have a higher number of Jewish friends. Thanks for the video and for letting me share my story since I'm not able to have children.

It’s questionable practice at best and idolatry at worst. Hashem hid the grave of Moshe Rabeinu out of fear of it becoming a place of worship. None of this is brought down by the shulchan aruch or any major poskim. Chabads worship of the rebbe is concerning. I don’t need a conduit to be close to god. We have a direct relationship to Hashem. Abraham, Moses, and all those who came before them never used these methods to pray to Allāh. Pure + strict monotheistic worship without the use of third parties or "lawyers." [Don't reply if you're not Jewish]

That's the perfect example of idolatry. This is what people of Makkah (mecca) used to do and Allah mentioned this argument of theirs in Quran and he repel it. Don't make a middle man or as mentioned in this clip "a lawyer", Allah (God) wants us to ask him directly and gets wroth when we do otherwise.

In Judaism we never think of the rebbe as God or even remotely the same as God in anyway! However we believe he is called rebbe as he was a very special man who spoke with only kindness and jewish Bible knowledge and was a huge man to go to for any advice one may need or want and yes he was very special, but never do jews ever believe him to be God in anyway and as Jews we only pray to and believe in ONE GOD and one God ONLY!

Didnt expect this. This is idolatry. The dead cannot intercede for you. Tzadikim which is sadiqin arabic, the righteous people. She prays to the rebbe in the grave to pray to gd. The true way is using your own merits in your prayers to seek gds favor. I.e oh gd i did so so cause i believe in you so grant me... Or oh gd i abstained from so so cause i fear you so grant me etc etc You can ask people that are alive to pray for you, cause they can. Secondly nobody knows the true nature of people or what is in their hearts. We judge people by the apparent, which is what we can observe. Such "holy" people can have different status with gd so its a very wrong practise, but even if he was pious its still idolatry. Dont know if all jews do this or certain groups. Another way people pray is by using the merits of others. Like saying oh gd for the sake of moses .... but this is also wrong, cause its always better to pray by the merits of god, and seeking favor by gods merits, greatness mercy etc or by your own merits where its apparent that your actions or lack of actions has been from your faith in god. God is the most merciful and the most bountiful and god listens to all people so no need for intercetion cause all of mankind was created for god and no man can take the glory of god or that which belongs to him. So ask only god and worship only god and do not fall for the illogic of intercetion of graves ans saints. This is how idolatry and worship of idols started. First people prayed by the graves of saints. Then they started to make statues of them at home so they could always be reminded of them. Then starts the intercetion. Idolatry isnt praying to statues or fake gods, idolatry is taking whats due to god and giving it unto any of the creation. Is this a general jewish practice or is it a certain group of jews? It says in their book to not beseech the dead, its quite clear verses on this, but as always idolatry is done by ignoring the clear verses, interpreting other verses, and coming to such a conclusion. No prophet or pious person in the bible did this. Even when u read the justifications written online it doesnt add up. They say jews have always asked other jews for intercession, like the israelites asked moses( he was alive), they ignored all the verses about punishments and how god detests asking the dead etc, and make a huge leap and come to the conclusion that those in the graves are still connected to to the living and since they also are jews they can ask them:) Same as if its shias, sufi sects, christians saint worshippers i cannot fathom their illogic and why they dont ask themselves why do we ask these people but not the ones that are higher in status? Like why ask daints and not jesus or peter? Why the rebbe and not moses? Is there a distance that matters? So already now its clear it just doesnt make sense. Is moses better than the rebbe? Yeah. Just shows how some idolatry traditions started and why it continuous even though we can from the text understand its idolatry. Also would like to know why they dont just ask moses david or someone who has much higher merits and is attested by god? Or is the dimension of the dead connected to the dimension of their grave, must it be by the grave? Matters how deep the grave is, or do they believe that the dead can hear them regardless where they are? See now? Giving them more and more of gods attributes. But id like to see answers to my questions if possible.

I feel it hard to feel any particular connection to the Rebbe. He died years before I was born, my parents are not observant Jews so I did not grow up with stories.
