As a Christian who grew up in a Jewish Community, I learned that they: 1) Support family members, 2) Pass down experience learned, 3) Get educated in a life endeavor. Be top of class, 4) Help family with businesses, but don't screw family members, 5) Give to others. 6) Business endeavors are very important, not social wackiness, 7) OWN, don't rent.

I understood it as using my resources to bless others. In the area I moved in was not enough cheap places to rent and I began to rent out one of our rooms. "The mishna issues its ruling with regard to a gentile customs collector, whom one may deceive, as it is taught in a baraita: In the case of a Jew and a gentile who approach the court for judgment in a legal dispute, if you can vindicate the Jew under Jewish law, vindicate him, and say to the gentile: This is our law. If he can be vindicated under gentile law, vindicate him, and say to the gentile: This is your law. And if it is not possible to vindicate him under either system of law, one approaches the case circuitously, seeking a justification to vindicate the Jew." -Bava 113a:21 Talmud The Talmud has been the centerpiece of Jewish communities throughout history, although the modern rabbi, apologists will distance themselves, the spirit is still very strong among Jewish communities who benefit each other, while applying different standards to the gentile, as predicated by the above verse. This verse was taken from a jewish scripture source, freely available online on sefaria.org, a jewish source. The verse essentially permits deceit in business towards non-Jewish traders or tax collectors. This ruling can be analogously extrapolated to justify any deceit in business. If they are in court, the Jewish authority will attempt to vindicate the Jew on the premise that he is jewish and the wronged individual is not. The verse permits that the prosecutors will either try to bend the gentile law, if not possible, they will use jewish law to immediately absolve the jew. Jewish communities were often allowed to practice their own laws and hold their own courts, exempt from common law. Some rabbis say that deceiving the gentile is impermissible if the court is sanctified by God, but this can be rectified by not sanctifying the court, therefore circuitous deception is permissible.
