I've lived through a few direct hits from hurricanes, lost my home twice, and had to spend weeks after the storm without aid. I can honestly tell you, running a generator is announcing to the world you have shit and looters will be coming. I had to "discourage" one individual the 2nd night after Hurricane Ian. Those weeks after the storm forced me to burn through most/some of my supplies, but it allowed me to find out what worked and what did not work. You would not believe how crafty you will become when you have to Mad Max it for a few weeks. Stay safe gents!

Solar power works well and a sound proof box over the generator would help.vented for exhaust. Someone should always be awake during the night because that's when the monsters come out. 92 riot lessons learned and enhanced as time went on.

I've been through a few hurricanes here too. I evacuated the first time, but it took so long to get back to my home, I've stayed in my house and ignored mandatory evacuations. Long story, but I'll spare everyone; basically it's government ineptitude and poor planning. Unless it's a Cat 5+ coming straight for our island, I'm staying home during the storm. The house is built for the storms here, including hurricanes, it's the tornados that could really cause damage and destruction. My house and I have been through a few hurricanes, tropical storms, etc. luckily no tornados though there have been several around the area. I'm sure my house / roof have weakened over time due to the storms; but I don't trust contractors; if my roof blows off then I'll know I need a new roof for certain; vs having a contractor tell me I need one when I may not.

John Wick, unless his survival was ordained, would in real life, by sheer numbers, eventually die. Every round fired has a probability of hitting him somewhere important. Avoidance of confrontation is the most secure survival strategy. There is always someone crazier than you. Something to keep in mind even during your daily commute, don't give in to aggressive tendencies thinking you will dominate the situation, you might run into someone that will take it further than you are willing to go. So if your survival strategy is to initiate fights on the regular, your run will be exciting but short lived.

I'd look people in the eye and let them know what they're messing with. Just don't show the fear. Keep a cool head. Warn and inform. Make it clear I'm prepared to lose. In other words even killing me wouldn't stop me. Get some allies to deal a harsh, heavy blow if the enemy dares to strike. This way people are informed. It's kept honest. And it only becomes a war if they choose it. Get on my bad side enough and I'll be doing much worse. I'm not so merciful as to kill. It's the mind I'll be targeting. Just to be clear I am the kind of guy that has broken a therapist. Do you really want to try stealing from someone that can get those kind of results? Now put the food you tried to steal down and keep walking before I capture you and do worse then kill. Just be glad I always give fair warning.

As I say to others; I prep because I like to eat. I enjoy some confort. I don't 'want' to get involved in violence with desperate people, nor to resort to cannibalism, nor raid others for essentials... But if needed, as I've said also...I can't eat my morals. I believe most, not all, preppers have a fair chance of going wolf if they lose their security that prepping brings. The sad thing is most preppers live in a fictional world driven by poorly written books and movies and often listen to and then repeat BS that they heard a more established/ dominant prepper spew. But, yeah, living by the sword for survival is highly risky and only the desperate should even consider it. So PREP AND DON'T STOP!

For someone who went through the war and with some fair military training, when SHTF and true panic set in, EVERYTHING will change! And I mean everything: your group could disintegrate in minutes, your trusted friend could turn a back on you, heck even your brother, etc. The US is especially in deep s*it because you're living, generally speaking, a way from your family and an army of "immigrants" just waiting for an order to create chaos. I don't want to spread fear here, but the best preparation is to PRAY that something like that never happens! Yes, please do have your water source, food, garden, generator, guns, MREs... but start praying TODAY like you've never prayed before! The situation we are all in, regardless of the country or continent, was designed decades ago by forces that hate humanity and God, and our fixation on catastrophe will only bring it faster to our reality! Your mind is the best tool you'll ever have, so imagine a peaceful life in love and harmony; maybe this vibration could disrupt the plans of the evil ones? Good luck to us all!

We don’t know what they think or how they process things. You, yourself, as you are, have zero capabilities of understanding an animal’s brain wave. To top that, There’s not a brain surgeon alive who can dissect your brain and say “oh yep. This is the mind.” You may feel superior to animals, but it’s naive to think you’re anything more than a mammal. We may have a sophisticated way of life, but we’re humans. A different species of animal. On the food chain when the lights go out. Our biggest predators will certainly be our own species. Ask yourself. What are you willing to do to ensure that your genes don’t take the way of the dodo bird? There very well may be a guy perched up on the high ground waiting to see your head pop from his .300 win mag. All just to raid and pillage your house of your preps. He can be a half mile away. His odds of being successful rely on the probability that he can make that shot. Just because you can’t doesn’t mean he’s of your same skill level. It’s a black pill for sure, but it’s a game of lions and who is going to eat? It’s not the gazelle playing dress up. -this is the right way to loot. Not very many people are capable of stopping this. After a pause and some reflection, here is what I have to say. And if this does not apply or appeal to you just skip it without an attack on my ideology, it's just too easy to respect each other and do that. But, if you want to be truly prepared, I mean in this present day not just the afterlife, if you want to be truly aligned with with faithful strong people, follow Jesus Christ, who will bless your groups and all you do to protect your family and the innocent under your roof and your care. Because, there is ONLY ONE ALPHA and OMEGA, and it's not some random elite guy(s) or guys who think they are. If you have the only true ALPHA on your side, no need to worry about all the fake ones. Because God can make your small group(s) a force to defend the innocent. We stock up on ammo, food, and water, but without God all of that may be for naught. A silenced 22lr, night vision, night sights, armor, subsonic ammo option, can make you a very effective predator. Dont kid yourself that a 22 in you will not be fatal. It might take 24 hours for the fever to drop you, but you WILL drop. Subsonic 22's are still lethal at 125m and you'll have no IDEA where the suppressed shots came from. This is especially true at night. With a decently effective suppressor, run 'wet' with WD-40 and water, and the bolt held shut, you wont hear the shot at 50 FEET. You're correct that shotguns are ineffective pos's for shtf, but the 22 is not, IF it's subsonic, with a silencer and especially at night.

The place was crowded as usual on a Saturday evening. We sat in a booth with people on 3 sides of us. The people that were directly behind my wife and I were actively talking about prepping. Each one tried to one up the other about what they had. Amazing how much I learned that evening. And probably everyone else around them also. A few years ago, I would have been somewhat skeptical on how many people thought like that. But there are more bad folks out there than you realize. I found some guys in the area that actually trained on a regular basis. Most of their training was just shooting drills, and most of the guys weren't very good at it. But some of them also had other useful skills, and overall they seemed like good guys to know. A few months into it, I overheard one of the group's founders talking about just taking what they needed from others after SHTF. His attitude was that he might as well take what he needed from the weak ones before someone else did. I bailed of course.

Members volunteer to be "victims" and we have people who can do really great make-up so the victims' wounds look real. Our meeting in June was a surprise grid search for a missing elderly man. We were told it was a hurricane prep meeting, but they surprised us. Didn't tell us it was a drill until after we finished searching an area. lol While we have hundreds who have completed the training, only a dozen or so show up for the monthly meetings. Even with the low percentage of regulars, the ones who have been trained should be an asset to their families during an emergency.

A subsonic 22lr, the 60 gr Aquila variant, will still brain you at 50m, with a temple hit, from a rifle. 50m is a long, long shot at night, when people have no night sights or night vision and 90+% do NOT have such gear. You dont want JUST a 22, just like you dont want JUST a centerfire. You want a silenced shorty AR-15 in 223, with a 22lr conversion unit The 60 gr Aquila 22 ammo will keyhole/tumble when fired thru normal 1 in 16" 22lr twist rate rifling. Thru 1 in 9" rifling in the AR, tho, it works fine.

I use a Ross RS22M (Semi auto rifle with 10 round mags of .22 WMR) and that rifle is a tac driver up at 125 yards. I've seen guys dropping dimes at 200+ yards with it. I've bought a spare barrel to get threaded so I can make a "hush puppy" version. It's a great versatile weapon and I have paired it with a Rough Rider in .22 WMR (it also has the .22 lr cylinder too). I use the setup as my small game hunting setup or when I have to do a quick perimeter check at night. I do own bigger party calibers, but that 22 WMR is a fantastic caliber. I would feel fine if all I had was my Rossi RS22M/Heritage Rough Rider combo. The other weapon I pair the 22 WMR Rough Rider with is my single tube break action 20GA that folds up to fit in your pack. Bought the adapter that allows you to fire the .22 WMR from the shotgun. I use that setup for over night hiking/hobo camping adventures.

there are a lot of cavalier preppers who believe that their place cannot ever be penetrated or overrun. they believe that because they have a "group" and have weapons and a little bit of training that they can repel any attack. these folks are sadly mistaken...the real marauders will be properly equipped and trained and patient. there is a group near where I live that have the numbers, weapons and weapons training, scenario training, night and thermal capabilities, long range capabilities, encrypted comms, drones with night capabilities, and the transport capabilities to move it all. they are willing to take casualties because there will be plenty of folks who haven't prepared who will join these groups for their own survival. they will scout you for days or weeks before they strike. they will kill the men, take and use then kill the women and traffic the kids. if you have vegetation/trees/forest up against your property line or up against your house you are done for. you need a 300 yard killing zone around your dwelling with kill zones and kill funnels, booby traps, etc. if you are defending yourselves from your house you are done for as well. if you think that Bubba and his buddies are what marauders are then you are so seriously mistaken. I am sorry to say that your advice is flawed. I am not trying to be a debbie-downer...I see it too many prepper groups believing that they can be completely safe from any kind of predator. history and the advice of those who have been there disagree with you. don't be misled by these goons that you see on tv calling themselves "apex" predators. the real marauders will be very, very capable. read pages 417-420 of the LDS Preparedness Manual. Look up Selco Begovic. read "Dark Secrets of SHTF' and SHTF Survival Bootcamp" by Begovic. he survived the Bosnian war in the early 90's. look up Fernando Aguirre. read survival theory II by Jonathan Hollerman who studied and documented human behavior in history of starving nations. People are going to do whatever they think need to do, depending on their level of desperation and level of craziness. I don't want or need a group. What I need is my oceangoing sailboat. It will be well stocked and ready to go. I live on an island in the Atlantic, open ocean, many islands, coves, bays, etc. that are uninhabited. The boat will have diesel, wind and solar power; watermaker, water purification, spare parts, fishing gear, radar, etc. My retirement plan includes sailing the Caribbean part of each year alone. (singlehanded). The Bahamas alone have over 700 islands, most are uninhabited. If anything happens or doesn't happen in the US, this will still work. If things look bad in the US, I can take a short sail offshore and monitor the situation from there. If the US has internal social breakdown or other internal issues, that doesn't mean every country / location will too.

@@chriswhinery there are many deserted coves in the keys, along Georgia and Florida coasts, many only accessible by boat; same for the Bahamas. The sailboat I plan to get has adjustable draft, around 6" to 18" minimum, depending on which model I get. These can be beached at low tide, dry anchored on the breach; floating up with the tide. So first is location, and not staying anchored / moored / beached anywhere too long. If I see other boats, or the same boat several times, or something that looks questionable, I'll move. It will also have locking cabin, motion sensors / alarms, as well as being armed, for close, medium and long range. One of my hobbies is long range shooting. Yet invite being a target. Now ask yourself, do you really want to fuck around and find out? Warning and informing covers your ass. If you invite being a target (and actually know what you're doing) then that's going to give even the most ruthless pause. If only because they might sense a trap. And traps I would lay for sure. Only somoene that desires a big challenge would go for that. Which means having to plan for that too. If we're talking planning then I'm talking PLANNING.

From what i can tell raiding is a sure way to die or invite bad things home. On a extended SHTF maybe 1-5% of houses would have what you need. There is a solid chance with a tactic of raiding a person could do 20 raids and still not find what they need. Yet maybe every 5 houses is a fight, raiding is resource intensive and gets really bad if a raid goes wrong. Raiding is aggressive risky foraging, people would be better off learning edibles. If you have a solid defensive plan do deal with 4-10 armed men who have scouted your home ahead of time and can attack whenever they think you are weakest. I would really like to know so I can implement the same or similar plan.

If there is one thing that is glaringly obvious about preparedness, it's that community trumps everything else. I don't care if you are the most experienced hardcore person in the world, or how much gear you have. If you don't have people, you have a limited lifespan. Yes, buy gear and supplies, yes, train and practice with them. But first and foremost, above all else, surround yourself with allies.

Suburbs ....make alliance with all on block or street. Form patrols....monitor vehicle traffic. Allow residents only. Take care of each other. Each neighborhood becomes a community. Then, communities trade and co-defend each other. No solo Rambo stuff needed....work together and rally around family, friends and Constitutional values

Any military tactician will tell you attacking is far deadlier then defending, as combat is mostly always in favor of the defender. On top of that, how are you going to navigate booby traps, mines, and sniper positions?

And yet history has repeatedly proven it's a tactic that works. The smarter ruthless people will make sure it works. You undestimate this. You're not thinking ahead. You're not planning for the worst outcome. You're falling into the trap of thinking your expectations will match reality. What if it doesn't?

@@taramaforhaikido7272 You misunderstand what I have written. WE ARE prepared for the wolves. That is why those preppers that think they will just take what they want will meet an untimely end. Trip wires, pressure plates, motion sensor and command detonated awaits them, to include fecal laced punji sticks and bear traps. Her in the U.S. it gets extremely fun when much of the population has firearms. No. Forming mutual communities with like minded and equally prepared people is the key to survival.

People are more than welcome to come to east Texas with I am taking you're stuff attitude. The people in that area grew up together and lots of vets. Believe me those east Texas boys grew up in those woods and are prepared. There is no way to get anywhere near those woods with out them knowing you are there. Just the church prepping community is in the hundreds and organized. The hunting lodges are just where they go to practice survival techniques. The small communities at least in East Texas are organized and more than ready. My dad called them the foil hatters. But he had his spot in the group LOL.

Prepping is a life long journey, always working to improve in every way. Sometimes a neighborhood is a good place to be where you know your neighbors and work together. It's all about a positive mindset and being around folks you trust. I've been at this for as long as the guy in the video has been alive. But what do I know?

The thing about the "apex predator"-types is that they really don't care about their own future; the mindset is more of a "I'll go as far as I can." instead of long term planning and sustainability. They don't mind failing in that regard. Trying to reason with them, pleading with them, negotiating or playing fair with them is what enables them. You cannot scare them or hurl ultimatums at them, it doesn't work on them. You just gotta accept them as they are and prepare for them too.
