High prices for everything have severely affected my plan. I'm concerned if people who went through the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am having now. The stock market is worrying me as my income has decreased, and I fear I won't have enough savings for retirement since I can't contribute as much as before.

It's recommended to save at least 20% of your income in a 401k. You can use online calculators to estimate how much you should save based on your age and income. Saving at least 20% of your income in a 401(k) can help ensure that you have enough money to retire comfortably. By saving this much, you can take advantage of investing in the stock market and potentially grow your retirement savings over time.

Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.

This allowed the US to exercise its economic and political will onto the countries that trade in dollars, which was everyone. Going off the gold standard was a power play by the US and it has worked out extremely well for our country up until now when our own stupid foreign policies have convinced countries to move away from the toxic dollar and go back to trading in their own currencies. It was easy to sanction a country that was trading in dollars. It will be impossible to sanction a country not trading in dollars or with any dollar reserves.

@sprinkle61
@sprinkle61 8 ай бұрын
@@albionicamerican8806 No one would own vast amounts of gold, because the only way to profitably run a business, is if someone was willing to buy your product, and they couldn't buy it, if they had no gold. This would cause profits to naturally come down, as gold got too concentrated, so the rich would have to spend their gold, if they wanted their companies to have a market to sell into. This would also cause real interest rates to rise, if there were too much government debt, leading to a swift default, so things stayed in balance. The US would of course default, then lose its reserve status, because we don't produce enough to consume what we do now.

The real reason prices are not going down is because inflation did not ONLY happen because of money printing. Tariffs, sanctions, added costs to businesses and just basic greed also contributed significantly to our price increases. We have done absolutely nothing to address any of those issues and instead have made things worse. Prices of things at Walmart went up when the 40% tariffs on Chinese imports went into effect. Why do you think the prices will go down when that 40% tariff is still active?

How long will high prices and reduced demand take to hit shareholders? For example, car companies can't sell cars right now because prices and interest rates are too high, cost of living is high, and wage growth is not keeping up. So, Stellantis, Ford, GM, etc. are posting terrible earnings reports and laying people off. Even Walmart (employs the most Americans nationwide) is laying people off and not hiring. No Graham, I disagree with you about a little bit of inflation being good. The reason we see prices constantly going up is because Wall Street expects infinite growth from all of our companies forever, which is incredibly unrealistic. Instead of being fine with a company being profitable consistently, that company needs to always have revenue growing. Easiest way to do that is to increase prices of your products and reduce your costs. Thus Wall Street expectations give us unnecessary inflation so companies seem like they are growing when in reality they are slowly raising their prices to make their products unaffordable for the masses such as our car manufacturers. Deflation is not a bad thing and is actually a necessary part of an economic cycle that we seem to always skip over to make sure our super wealthy always are making more money.

@@priestesslucy I respectfully disagree, as in a world without printing money, WHERE would the bailout money come from ? The FDIC ? LOL, they have only a few billion dollars, barely enough to bail out one SVB bank, and not enough to even start if a large number of large banks started dying at the same time, like happened in the S&L crisis back in the day. In fact, its likely the Federal Government itself would also likely default on its debt, if it actually had to pay market rates of interest on its debt, and those rates would likely go WAY up, if it appeared there was no real way the government could ever pay back the debt, and there IS no way they could ever do it, short of printing their way out of it, which is why a world without a printer would be so different to anything we currently know.

The federal reserve raised interest rate and paralyzed the housing market and the auto loan market. But what they couldn’t stop is America’s access to credit. Inflation itself is an expansion of the money supply, but that definition could be updated to include the expansion of credit as well. Because of the fact that people have credit cards you now see that Americans are carrying more credit card debt than ever before. The federal reserve, raising interest rates to the point that they have raised them has not stopped Americans from spending. We’re still spending and we’re still spending more on common items like groceries and energy for our cars and our homes. Until the federal reserve stop us from having easy access to credit they won’t be able to curve inflation simply because our demand can continue to outstrip supply. The federal reserve is more likely to raise interest rates than they are to lower them. But the problem that they have is the national debt being $35 trillion. They can’t raise the interest rates if it makes the national debt’s payment un payable. That would cause them to default on the debt. The hard part is striking a balance between hurting the American people and simultaneously being able to spend more money on their endless wars.

I wish this video explained how GOOD we (Americans) have it compared to many countries right now. Inflation hit the entire global marketplace and the US has weathered it exceptionally well.

My Big Nanny State government punched me in the face today, but then he beat the neighbor almost to death, so I sure am lucky that other guy is in the hospital and not me. I'd better stay with my abusive government, because I only need a little makeup to cover my shiner... Bitcoin feels sorry for you, but you would be better in a new monetary relationship, even if you can't see it, from 'walking into the door again'...

@@nerios.v Your rate of inflation is based on the things you buy, if your rent and car payments are soaring, and you don't buy a lot of TV's or Soilent Green, then your inflation rate can be MUCH higher than the official rate.

Hey fan of your stuff. I use to mix protein powder with coffee too but I’m pretty sure caffeine inhibits your bodies ability to absorb protein. May want to look into it but I’ve stopped ever since.

There are more wheels spinning than just standard economic theory. Just look around at global economic deals and what's in the news right in front of you, that is what will be effecting the global economy. No one wants to talk about it. So this video is a great video for the novice, the real game is outside this first economic wheel. 👍

Cut the crap; the reason is because companies see people will pay no matter the price. Thanks to an endless backdrop of easily accessible credit for consumers, there is zero reason for companies to lower price.

Your daily reminder that over 50% of recent inflation was caused solely by corp PROFITS. The supply chain was the 2nd biggest reason and the money printing was the least important factor, So Graham is missing the main cause of inflation here. Hes a wealthy real estate guy so thats not really a surprise. Like him overall but hes living too much in his own bubble

I’d also like an updated video on Yotta. FDIC just got back to me, now I’m going to read if the funds with Yotta/Evolve/Synapse are actually even protected. Lots of folks are in much tougher situations than me…like losing houses, and not being able to pay basic bills. It’s day 13 that funds have been inaccessible.

I don't buy the psychological logic. Technology items always experience deflation, but the purchase delay is a one time delay and you'd use an older generation technology.

Credit = inflation! The world survived extremely well before the invention and expansion of credit aka. Inflation. At this point deflation is inevitable as the biggest world wide recession and depression are on our doorstep. Don’t despair though barter will still happen and if you have cash it will be okay, but as job losses pick up people liquidate assets and that pushes down prices of goods and makes the availability of credit hard to come by.

It’s more of a truism than a fact that negative interest rates or “paying your bank to store money” is inherently bad. If we went back to the gold standard, you’d have to pay someone to store your gold.
