Why Procreate is SUPERIOR

I moved from ibis-paint to procreate because of how much less there was. That sounds weird, usually people think “less is bad” but that’s not true. it rlly depends how u use either app, i use ibis paint and sell art for real money. But i feel procreate is much better bc it is easy to adapt to for each art style

A lot of people don't know that for iPad you have finger shortcuts instead of keyboard shortcuts. Also people see a minimalistic, crisp, quick interface and think there are less features 🤷

the biggest reason procreate was life changing to me (after using photoshop for 6 years) is because you can rotate your canvas any direction you want !!!!!!!!! my drawings were always so stiff in photoshop and once i switched to procreate i realized it’s because even when i draw on paper i’m constantly rotating it so i can get the perfect angle, and procreate makes that actually possible, and i’ve improved IMMENSELY because of it

I actually hate the UI of procreate 💀. It seems easy at first glance but they have simple features hidden in the tiniest nook and crannies, it’s like why Is it there?!😭😭

Facts I love the UI of Procreate. I used photoshop, illustrator, and clip studio paint I hated them all. I was about to quit art period but then I saw procreate I got an iPad in September and I've been creating art like crazy I've made like 40+ art pieces sense then. Procreate is 10/10 💯

Same! Clip Studio Paint is good if you like doing line art, but I can't colour in it at all, especially now that I don't do line art anymore and go for a more painterly style. Procreate is the best for painting in my opinion!

Bro procreate is SO much easier to learn than clip studio and photoshop! (Not to mention I’m not trying to pay 10 bucks a month💀) I do like Clip for the perspective tools but procreate is easily the best. I like to sketch backgrounds on clip then put it in procreate to do everything else.

This is why I really want to use procreate. I've tried it on A friend's ipad. But.... Apple. You're right about there being so much in the interface of every other program. You can hide them but i also often forget things i already know too

@@Savion787 even with 5 layers setting them all to exact same % is kinda a pain. For just drawing I also use like maybe 3 layers, but it's not about whether it's easy or not, it's just such a weird dent in usability of this app when it comes to groups that I didn't stumble across in any other art program. You can't change opacity of a whole group, you can't clip mask onto a group (would be very useful when you want to cel-shade a whole character but I guess not, thanks), you can't apply an effect to a whole group, you can't add a mask to a group. Groups in procreate are useful only for animation and if you start to get little too many layers and want to get rid of visual clutter. Another atricous thing is the quality loss when editing a layer. Even if you're just rotating it, if you do it enough times it gets blurry hecking fast. Also, never came across something so bad in any other drawing program. I'm not talking about resizing tiny picture into huge one cuz that is obvious and no hard feelings here. There's no justifying it with "oh it's just an app for a mobile device it doesn't have enough power for these things" since they made it possible to paint textures onto 3D objects, but not make groups usable? I am just so baffled, procreate is so great and has many amazing options but then lacks some fundementals and just makes it so silly and makes me angry at apple stuff.

@@Szczurzyslawa these problems are prevalent in majority of art programs, the big solution to the quality loss is one thing that i haven't found in procreate which is antialiasing-everything else is not something worth complaining about imo

@@lvlngstrs Procreate does cause blurriness if you resize something, (small to large). Other art programs do not unless the image is already tiny or blurry. I used Procreate for 3 years and eventually switched to Clip Studio Paint, I never want to use Procreate again. Not because of that resize thing but also I like the amount of options, layer groups, and editing options. Procreate feels meh, but they have improved it a lot from where it started off But mainly: the feeling of the Apple pencil on the screen feels very unnatural

Omg. Colour as well. This is something i struggle with. The colours are different on a laptop, a pc, a mobile and print. Its... A struggle painting keeping in mind how the colours are going to come out later. Ive had some awful unfixable pieces. Because i like painting on one layer

(Can anyone suggest a tutorial on this channel to help me get the layer orders and masks etc correct? I find my drawings take 10x longer than necessary as it's always destructive work. Do you choose to colour in the slow way as a choice?? Not sure if you know about you can use a rerfence layer , then create new layer on top rerfence layer, then drag under refence layer and you can then drag colour from the top right to where you want it.

Procreate is for enthusiasts, Photoshop and Clip Studio are for professionals (I'm not saying pros can't use procreate,it's all about the features). Sure, procreate has an easy UI which makes it accessible to everyone, but PS and CSP have far superior assets available.

Procreate is superior?.....If you don't know how to use an advance software. Like for real, you didn't even try painting properly on PS? Where are your brushes? Why did all your technique disappear while using PS? Neither are you aware of the amount of advance tools , layering and techniques that PS has that procreate can't even get close too. The only good thing about Procreate is the price in comparison to greedy Adobe....But include the iPad and pencil, storage limitations and the planned obsolescence which forces to continuely replace your device every 4-5 years and the apple pencil damage rate is higher than normal 2in1s and graphics tablets on the market. I really fail to understand your argument. Procreate is only affordable if you already had the device to use it. And neither can it do won't most pro apps and what pros need and makes simple functions hidden... Note: I'm not trying to demean the artist in this video in any way, Not everyone is well Informed. Im just tired of this overused argument reccomended to me all the time

I used photoshop for drawing for a year, I know how to use it it’s just less practical and as I said, too many tools if you don’t need them. It is more advanced but for drawing digital art it is really not necessary for 90% of people. After I switched to procreate it was a relief. Btw for adobe you need a device too so it’s not cheaper

I think CSP is better for line art, but it is terrible at facilitating the painterly style I have. I can't create work to my usual standard in CSP unless I'm doing line art (which is no longer part of my process) so it's very subjective as to which kinds of artists prefer which program

It doesn't have to be for ipad. You can buy it for PC, you only have to pay once. And CSP is actually much better than procreate. You can get so many awesome brushes for free and a lot more stuff. You can even use 3d models of almost anything you want. They even give you free points in christmas so you can buy more brushes and stuff. I mean i use procreate too, but CPS is SOOO MUCH better. With no doubt.

I’m not a big fan of procreate. Hell I honestly think it’s extremely overrated. But saying CSP is better is a lil overkill. They have, for 1, a god awful UI and it’s honestly impossible to understand. And before you say I’m broke I’ve payed for the subscription and hated it. 2, every simple action takes forever to do. It once took me like 20 minutes to just rotate a layer. I hate the ui of procreate aswell but csp is infinitely worse.
