I do this a lot and I don't even think about it as pseudo, I just think of it as solving a "side" edge and then a "bottom" pair if we're going to use a 3x3 analogy mega s2l feels closer to roux sb than to cfop f2l ngl

Btw, on 3:19 you can do 2 sexy moves and on last move you can do R2’ to cancel and then sledge hammer U2’ F. I hope that works I don’t have my mega with me now haha

Yeah I saw this, I just wanted to try and make an example of a case where someone is trying to just do star edge then pair and where pseudo would be bad for that, most definitely would be doing your solution in a normal solve tho lol, and yeah i mainly say "future" as ive never really seen people outside the top 25 really doing this 😅, I mostly learnt how to do it from yours, Leandro's and Isaac Lai's solving!

i picked back up a month ago, got a megaminx to relearn, trying to do it all intuitively with no tutorial and 1:00 ish is literally the exact method i came up with to do it the most efficiently lol

Sort of, i think the "pseudo" part of it is just having the recognition for the different pairs (which makes seeing and making the blocks a lot easier), and i think this video also explains better that being mindful of rotations and fingertricks is a big part of the s2l rather than just pure efficiency style blockbuilding

I do this for all of my solves and only do some pairs normally but do you think there is a advantage from doing this in stead of solving the pairs normally i know you probably said it somewhere int he video and i missed it

Yeah i think it avoids rotating down, but sometimes it is just best to solve the pairs normally, so i think being able to do a mix of both is really good, sort of like dual colour neutrality in a way

Is this not just what is taught at a beginner level for solving the last three s2l pairs, except you just do this for every three pairs?

Dont think so, at least i saw no one doing this until a higher level, most people ive seen just do the normal s2l face pairs rather than this, but some people definetly do already do some of this

@@AidanGrainger I mean rotating to solve the "bottom" s2l pair, then rotating back so you've got the two edges and the corner at the bottom and being able to solve the remaining "upper" s2l pairs on either side. Isn't that the basic way of solving the last three slots when they're next to each other? Is that not what you're doing here except for every group of three slots instead of just the last one so you don't have to rotate for every face you're solving pairs into

Oh yeah I see what you mean, yeah this is pretty much what it is, you can also do this with the last s2l side as well with the very top right and top left edges but i only ever really do it with the top right edge and not very often, but i think overall people overlook the fact that they can do it for every s2l side as they dont have to solve the top pieces of that side as well, hence why im highlighting it here! Hope this makes sense

i mostly did that solution to show how it would look after just finishing the "pair" normally lol, but yeah youre right R' F R definetly is better. I think pseudo s2l is probably better being used a bit more than s2l but im not really sure on the percentages, I kinda just go along with whichever one is better in the solve (if thats for which pieces i see first or which solution is faster/better to fingertrick)

i should use this more, but the option is basically available only in one slot every solve because i go the other way around during S2L Why do you think going y' intead of y during S2L is better?

I mostly think its better because you can do back inserts with R moves and avoid lots of lefty moves, which in turn can make lookahead a bit better, I can say for 100% certain as ive never tried to main rotating y in s2l, but I definitely think y' is a bit better because of this. I think the general consensus at top level megaminx is that this is the case but you can also still be sub 30 with y rotations so its not a huge difference.

@@AidanGrainger Thanks! One of the main reson i prefer y over y' is the rotations you need to do to insert pairs in the left bottom slot, but using pseudoS2L that is not a thing anymore so i might have to change idea
