Pune (50 B GDP ) having anything economically biggest in Maharashtra is such a oxymoronic thing to claimed 😊 Entire India don't have anything to come to close to Bombay (300 B GDP ) in terms of Business and Finacial muscle ❤ and Pune people having this funny competitive energy around Bombayites is so childish behavior from them

Let me share A Fascinating Fact About Hadapsar Few people are aware of a fascinating piece of history surrounding the Hadapsar area. Initially, the British had selected this site for development, and construction had commenced. However, midway through the project, they encountered a massive layer of hard basalt rock, which would have been prohibitively expensive to remove. Consequently, they abandoned their plans and instead opted for the Lohegaon site, which eventually became the Pune Airport. Interestingly, the Hadapsar airstrip, although no longer in use for commercial flights, still hosts helicopter and glider flying activities. A visit to the site today reveals the remnants of the abandoned project, including the distinctive basalt hills and the sloping runway - a testament to the area's rich history."

Pune does not need a new international airport 40km away; from the city when the current airport can fulfill the needs for next 30 years with proposed runway extension, which is dragging on for last 20 years. The new airport is needed only for the benefit of politically connected contractors.

I stay in Wakad, PCMC, which is in north of Pune…for me the upcoming Navi Mumbai Airport is just 1:15 to 1:30 hrs away from my house, and once the Missing Link project of the Mumbai Pune Expressway is completed, it will be possible for me to travel to Navi Mumbai Airport in under 1 hr, and when it comes to New Purandar Airport, even with zero traffic, it will take at least 2 hrs from my home to reach the new Purandar airport…!

@@deepkumarvarshney964 Wakad to Navi Mumbai is 1h45m right now. With missing link you'll save at-least 30minutes. Worst case it takes 1h15m. Best case, 1h is easily possible from Wakad to new Navi Mumbai airport.

Thanks for the detailed update. Have been staying in Pune since 24 years now. Have been flying since there was Sahara Airlines. Seen the pretty tiny Pune turning into a giant in all these years but the infrastructure/roads are not supporting the growth. The traffic is just as worst as B’lore due to growing vehicles and no widening of roads. Need the authorities to improve the city infrastructure in order for the city to manage the growing population well.
@arvindshah358126 күн бұрын
New airport at Pune is a must, those questioning its need havent probably seen Hyderabad and Blr airports, if Pune has to be on par with these places its a must have, sadly its been languishing since years now, also wide roads and infrastructure is also a must , look at the way Noida is being developed and also Jewar new airport, with the population increasing and nr of flyers also increasing, even with Navi Mumbai airport , a very large airport at Pune is an absolute need that will cater to the future needs.

Hi Dear Droneman, Have you thought about the trees lining our highways? Planting the right trees can provide shade, purify air, and beautify our roads. Experts recommend Neem trees (Azadirachta indica) as a top choice for their adaptability, shade, air-purifying qualities, and medicinal value. Other great options include: Mango (Mangifera indica) and Jamun (Syzygium cumini): Hardy, shade-giving, and fruit-bearing. Pongamia pinnata (Honge Mara): Perfect for dry climates. Banyan, Peepal, Amaltas, and Champak: Iconic or ornamental choices with specific benefits. Key considerations: Deep-rooted trees prevent road damage, low-maintenance species are easier to care for, and local regulations should guide selections. My request: Can you please keep highlighting this to the authorities and also create specially videos on the type of trees being planted around the highways. Lots of times these are not being considers and even the contractors don't do much about it. Let’s inspire communities to green our highways and make every journey a joy! 🌱

Pune has bad infrastructure now. Overpopulated and narrow roads, same fate as bangalore. Civic department doesn't provide any amenities and everywhere you go new unsustainable real estate projects pop up. Pune requires sustainable and planned development as well as better connectivity. Great video. Exhaustive research. Sadly we punekars see very little chance of ever realising this airport as there are many vested interests with conflicting opinions who would never let it materialise. Best option is the NMIA and enhancing the domestic connectivity to Delhi and Bangalore with more in-sync scheduling with international routes, so that more routes open up.

Purandar Airport will never exist in future, because the local land mafias have inflated the land prices so much (about 20k / 1000sqft when it was rumoured in early 2010s, to about 8-9 lakhs/1000sqft nowadays) that land acquisition for the airport itself is not feasible anymore. Also, Ring road is a running joke in Pune since 1998.

Iaf can't shift the runway as it is built with required defence planning. Removing IAF from here means they will have to destroy the entire runway and other infrastructure completely rendering the runway completely useless.
