The rig was the deep state going after him relentlessly his 1st term, the media and tech for 8 solid years reinforcing that bullshit. Then the baseless law-fare or law-fare that may have had some degree of substance but that no Democrat has ever been subjected to. You recall Russia-gate, the FBI, Comey, Brennan, Trump's direct advisors appointees turning on him. Leaking to the NY Times, Wash Post. Two impeachments, neither with any prospect of conviction. On and on. The NYS civil prosecutions for a 20 year old unreported rape past any statute. The real estate nonsense for bank false filings that the bank itself disavowed and yet Trump was fined nearly USD $half-billion. The idiotic election fraud or whatever it was with the 34 count felony conviction. Go ahead - tell me what he was even accused of. Then attack dog Smith with 2 federal indictments. The Georgia law-fare from the crooked Atlanta DA. All of bullshit. The "insurrection" where nobody had any guns! That Trump requested increased security for which Pelosi refused. The Democrats rigged it all with the media and the swamp. He was wrong about 2020 voter fraud. But after what the did to him for upsetting their carefully laid plans for installing that witch Clinton, who can blame him. Now Smith will withdraw his rigged attacks. And Trump will take oath on Jan 20. Unless they again do as Biden did last summer, "put a target on his back"

Meanwhile they put on blinders to Russian aggression in Chechnya, Georgia and Ukraine in 2014, because they wanted cheap Russian gas. The ramifications of those actions is that Europe can't defend themselves. And as far as the defense of Ukraine, I have lost sympathy when they refuse to draft enough men to adequately defend themselves. So now the rest of Europe can't give Ukraine what they need to defend themselves, and Ukraine won't do what they need to defend themselves. People often, even on European news TV, use the argument that there were no major wars during Trump's term, and that both Ukraine and Israel happened under Biden's/Harris' watch. Now this argument seems disingenuous because it's hard to imagine Trump taking any decisive measures to discourage or punish Russia for attacking Ukraine, but what would you say to people who make that argument?
@johnchristopher3032
@johnchristopher3032 2 ай бұрын
You can't say anything meaningful. Compared to his predecessors, Trump represents a vast improvement in this area. He really didn't start a dozen new conflicts. Some democrats will point to the bombings and drone strikes under Trump and say this makes him equal to Obama and Bush. This is hilarious. Trump never sent the Marines. That's all the difference in the world. Pick another issue or another angle. If you are an anti war minded person, Trump is the best American president of the century.

"Trump taking any decisive measures to discourage or punish Russia for attacking Ukraine" Trump will likely take the United States out of that conflict. Humanitarian support, but no American missiles in Ukraine.
@Sindrijo
@Sindrijo 2 ай бұрын
@@johnchristopher3032 Calling Trump the “best American president of the century for anti war” is quite rich, when the bar is quite low,. Bush initiated major wars. Trump’s avoidance of new conflicts seems more like coincidence than intention. His approach wasn’t rooted in an anti-war philosophy but instead relied on isolationist moves that created instability without any real peace-building. Trump ramped up drone strikes in Yemen, Somalia, and other countries, loosening oversight and causing high civilian casualties-hardly a mark of an anti-war presidency. Trump’s agreement with the Taliban set an rapid exit timeline that was dangerously unrealistic, leaving the Afghan government in a poor position for a stable transition. Biden’s slight extension couldn’t undo the rushed nature of the exit. An effective disengagement would realistically still have taken years. Trump’s willingness to withhold military aid to Ukraine for personal political leverage weakened Ukraine’s defenses and deterred Russia less effectively. An anti-war stance supports allies to prevent aggression, not using their security needs as bargaining chips. Much of Russia’s planning for the Ukraine invasion likely occurred during Trump’s term. His mixed support for NATO and dismissive stance toward allies weakened deterrents against aggression. When Biden took office, alliances were already strained, rebuilding unity was never going to happen quickly enough to deter Russia from invading. Unlike Trump’s destabilizing actions, Obama’s foreign policy mainly involved managing conflicts he inherited. His Iran nuclear deal was widely seen as a diplomatic success, designed to limit nuclear risks through engagement. Trump’s decision to abandon this agreement raised tensions, diplomacy needs careful maintenance across administrations if its going to work. It really hurt the US's credibility, and it certainly does seem to have been motivated by Trump's obsession with undoing anything Obama put in place without considering the strategic outcomes or fallout. Being overly myopic about things happening or not happening when a particular person is president is a bit naive. Many events are shaped by years of prior policies, global trends, and complex dynamics that go beyond any single term.

Bullies only back down when you punch them in the face, and with both of them limiting support and having the GALL to dictate how Ukraine, the country being attacked, is permitted to defend itself is beyond ludicrous! Absolutely. America is 35 trillions in debt, American cities are dirty and American infrastructure is borderline third world. Does that seem like a solid, squared away state to you? America is really being exposed as of late and it will only continue.

Putin is basically correct, if there's any country you can compare America to, it's the Late Soviet Union. Perhaps a case of convergent evolution between two ideological/military superpowers.

I don't think America is the Soviets in later years. But if the current course does not change, I think it will be in 15-20 years. This is not a quick process.

One thing that makes us different in the United States is that we have mechanisms of renewal. We can choose not to use them, bad forces can capture and destroy them, so we are not immune to destruction. However, our mechanisms of renewal are very real and they are built in to our system. If they survive, then our democracy can survive. It is the thing that makes us different from Russia and Putin likely cannot see the distinction. I can give examples if necessary. I note that my overly long posts get deleted.

I'll give one example to start out. The US Constitution is called a "living document". It includes a process in the original text whereby it can be changed/ Amended, even though the process is difficult. In fact, it has been Amended 27 times in our history. I can most certainly give other examples beyond this. If you are from the US and paid attention in school, you likely can as well.

@@EvgeniyYakushev-m2u yes this is the beginning of political/ideological stagnation. Fewer people trust traditional institutions or even care what they have to say. You can even see it outside of government. From Boeing's problems to Hollywood's inability to index with the zeitgeist, everything seems to be slowly falling apart. Not to mention the deaths of despair and lack of meaning many are feeling.

lol I'm no big Kamala fan but I don't get what is "opaque" or autocratic about a Vice-President taking over for a President who waited until the last freakin minute to get out of the way even though he knew he couldn't do it anymore-- that sort of situation is the *SOLE* purpose of HAVING a Vice..... it was the base (even those of us who would have chosen another candidate) who were pushing hard FOR her and to not let the interegnum drag on precisely because we wanted to *PREVENT* the oligarchy being able to hand-pick *their* favorite candidate (which is what that weasel Obama wanted to do-- Pelosi and the Congressional Black Caucus came in in OPPOSITION to him, wretched neoliberal monarchic prick that he is who greatly overestimates the respect he still holds). It was a lousy option but it was a less lousy option than the alternative and in that regard the common people won over the ruling class, though they and we were aligned in wanting Biden out (and it was obvi only the donors that mattered).

I would think that Putin would struggle to profile Kamala Harris as opposed to a white woman or a male leader. Biden he had 5-6 decades to profile. Kamala’s policies and decision making prowess will be unpredictable for Putin (I surmise). I suspect for all the profiling he has done over the decades, modern American women would be his greatest challenge to understand (heck, western males struggle to make sense of them a lot of the time)!!!
