Firstly I'm glad you covered this Craig, personally I used to be a very consistent putter, not a fantastic putter but decent, unfortunately whilst playing with an older member, he said how come you never miss anything inside 5ft and what way do you take the putter back, I'd never thought about it but soon after I got the yips, went from 0.7 to 5.1 over a period of 5 years, tried the long putter, different grips and finally settled on the claw, got back down to 1.7 and low and behold it struck again (slow greens) 🤦 the one thing I never tried was the arm lock as I tried one out a few years back and didn't feel comfortable and gave up after 15 minutes practice, this video has given me the notion of giving it another chance, thanks Craig 👍 it's not just me.

Putting woes is so disheartening.. Just relieved ive come out the other side. Had my best putting day for a long time yesterday and shot 69 -2 gross at Southport And Ainsdale GC . Putting was the reason for this TBH

@ScratchAt50 Totally understand where you're coming from Craig, my best 2 putting days this season I shot 69 and 70 Glad you're through the other side, should get back to scratch in no time 👍

That's the exact putter I tried Craig. It didn't work for me BUT...I didn't give it as long as you did. Maybe that was my issue, whatever it has been returned so the Bettinardi keeps its place 😉

@@ScratchAt50 That's what I tell Debi about my collection, when she asks why I need so many putters but only use one 🤣🤣🤣

Fortunately for me I found my putter. I played a Scotty Cameron Teryllium from 1999 to about 2021 or so. It got to a point where I pushed or pulled everything. I just hated it and I never particularly putted well with it. I'm now in a Spyder and it's been night and day. But the caveat to it is I made adjustments to my stance and setup and now I roll it unbelievably well. I think putting is a subjective action. I think the judgement of whether we are good to great putters is misleading. I think in general players judge putting by how many putts they make. I think that's extraordinarily inaccurate. Putting should be judged by how well you roll the ball, speed control, and how well you can hit your line. Green reading is a sperate skill all on it's own. Too many times players get caught up in how many they make. In reality if you roll it well, have great speed control and can hit your line consistently you're a great putter. Learn to read greens better and you will make more putts.

Its absolute gold when you have found your putter. Feel like I have found mine again.

@ScratchAt50 that's all that matters. I tried an armlock briefly, though. I like first impressions, and I didn't care for it. It was an Odyssey, but for some reason, it felt like it was cheaply made when I struck putts with it. Just felt awful. Hit the Spider, and instantly, I knew this is the one.
