RiceGum: KZbin's Most Infamous. After being one of the fastest creators ever to go from 100,000 to 5,000,000 subscribers, RiceGum's channel has slowly fallen out of the spotlight. From a man who would call everyone irrelevant, to ending up irrelevant himself. 200 million views per month, to 2 million views per month. From telling everyone that he would never be one of those KZbinrs to stop uploading, to 5 months without a video. This video will examine the death of RiceGum's channel, exploring theories and the story as to how it happened.
Thank you guys for watching, like and sub if you enjoyed, Sunny XO ❤

A very good point made about vlogging. I think vlogging looked attractive when youtubers were at the humble beginnings , the editing was organic and their stories felt real. Then their subscriber grew, editing became polished and targeted, their stories turn to ad rolls and bragging and then they became un relevant and their popularity fell off.

This is very untrue, when you get a lot of views and attention and it doesn't relent, that changes your personality a lot. I know this because it happened to me. My channel kind of exploded out of nowhere, and although it's only at 1.45k, that's not bad for the community I make videos for. He didn't become irrelevant because of what he did, he became irrelevant because he stopped posting. That's literally it. He just became lazy. I studied his audience and they're blindly faithful, and he would likely be at 20M subs if he kept posting, like KSI or Logan Paul. It's not that deep. Prime example is Keemstar. The guy is HATED and did so much negative crap that people dislike and yet his channel is doing the best it ever was, despite so many times where he was losing subs, simply because he still posts consistently and gives value to his audience.

I like how people are just hearing about NigaHiga, one of the most OG KZbinrs, and writing comments like "sunny said the n word?????" FYI, nigahiga is Okinawan and his name translates to "ranting higa". Higa is his last name and he was famous for his comedic rants among other things. He was well-respected in the old KZbin days because he was one of the first to have 1 million subscribers and collabed with other OGs like Smosh, Jenna Marbles, and more.

This dude once reached out to me about doing some design work from him. When I first received the email, I was not too weirded out as I work for a professional gaming company and get a lot of my bigger clients off word of mouth. His email matched the email in his about section of his youtube account, so I responded. When I asked about commission, as any freelancer does, he flipped out and acted as if I should bow down to him. He told me the amount of "exposure" I would get is more than enough and that I am sounding "ungrateful." He mentioned how he will just go get one of his thousands of designers that will work for free for him. I simply responded that I am sorry it didn't work out, and best of luck with his free designs. I have worked for "exposure", as any other esports designers I'm sure have at one time. I quickly learned that doesn't pay the bills. I am in no way shocked his ego got the best of him. I only really knew of ricegum from his past videos, so thought it would be a cool opportunity to work with him. Little did I know the ego he has let take over from his early youtube days. Great video as always! UPDATE: To anyone doubting, I’ve got nothing to prove to any of you. I’m not sure what the point of faking this would be….exposure? I don’t post videos, and I work full time and no longer take client work. Believe me if you’d like, or don’t. I’m not going to lose sleep at night over it. At the end of the day, I wouldn’t take the time to write up a comment to fake some BS.

honestly i liked his older content especially back when he lived in his mom’s house because he actually made videos out of his love for youtube and not just for money. He appreciated his audience and put real effort into videos.. it’s a shame that fame got to him
