That seems so odd to me, as an American, that a general election can just be called out of the blue. And July 4th? Our Independence Day? I'd like to think there's some connection, but I guess that's just a "business as usual" day to you UK folks, lol! On 4 July, 1976 Richard Dawson on "Family Feud" said, "This is a day of mourning in Britain." (or something like that) I'm rooting for Labour. The Tories have been in charge long enough.
