when my LB doesn't have fullback plus, players will run between him and the CB and the LB just runs to the sideline. they are so much further away form their player when defending in the box too. without they will literally run in the opposite direction sometimes.

It's even worse if u use a defender out of position. I once used udogie on stopper and he was standing like 5 meters ahead of the other 3 defenders and was walking while the opponent was at the edge of the box

Not true. Playing a player out of position would be like having a low/low player. Having a role(no plus) would more be like a medium/low or low/medium

If they can't, well Hamsik already almost maxed out. Which means more often than not he'll choose the right runs. Remember all he is explaining is AI movement. Once you have the ball other factors take over

I know a few won't like this but eafc is a great football game when you find players/fotmation/tactucs that suit you, not some pro tactics but suit how you play. You don't need to seek out the top tier meta players to have fun and win, fund the players that suit your style of play and you'll have a ton more fun.

That's true but also very limiting at least for me. The only formation I found that almost always works for me is 41212 narrow in 2 different setups. That means I can't use some of the good players I pack without sacrificing my style of play because I need very specific players to make it work the way I want it to work.

Fair point, but it still doesnt negate the fact that most people are running teams/ formations that abuse game mechanics. And also that ea has such shit gameplay. There are literally games where i play an opponent who does the same thing over and over and lose because the gameplay doesnt allow me to stop it or counter with actual football

I noticed a lot of this as well, rush Alexander Arnold was good first example for me. He has role ++ falseback but not wanting to get countered I left him on fullback and over time switched him back and forth and realized on falseback ++ he was capable of playing further up the pitch in a more central position and get back to his position easily during a counter. If he was caught up the pitch on fullback he rarely made it back in time. It became so regular and obvious once I was aware of it. Since then I’ve also noticed it on other players and roles as well but didn’t think about how role combinations might change the overall movements as well so thanks for this ✌️

All I can say is that it may not be perfect for the current meta of the game, but the AI movement was very enjoyable. This half winger provided me with an authentic representation of real football, particularly when most teams use an inverted full-back tactic. We often see midfielders overload in wide areas, allowing inside forwards to position themselves more in the box to look for scoring opportunities or serve as an extra passing option for the half winger who makes runs into the box after the inside forward gets there. In possession, I could create triangles in the half-space area with a false back balancing out and moving up alongside the central defensive midfielder. I'm only in Division 2, but it's been enjoyable, and I hope it works well for all you guys!"

Absolutely. I never see anyone usehe Falseback but it really is nice when you use it on the same side as a midfielder on playmaker/roaming or half winger. Perfectly positioned almost every time.

I basically stumbled into this exact thing this weekend. Switched to a 424 because both my wingers had wide playmaker ++. Decided to move all my players into their best roles. Started absolutely cooking. Thought it may have been the formation/tactics (was using fifa 17-24 brain), so copied tactics for one nation friendlies and didn’t work nearly as well because players weren’t in their ideal roles. Makes a huge difference!

Really great and useful information there, thank you for sharing this. I'm not a good or even an average player at this game (division 6 player) despite playing it for many hours to try and get good. I know it’s because of bad habits in muscle memory which I try with every game cycle to eliminate but for some reason it still exists. This is great information for me, because the frustration of seeing my centre forward make a run in a channel one game and not the next when playing the same ball has me tearing my hair out. This leads to me giving up pocession and inevitably conceding thereafter. I honestly thought that this was another me thing (there's a lot) but maybe not now. I can have days where in rivals I am happy with how I'm playing but the next day I am getting absolutely destroyed every game. Yes, maybe this is in part to bad gameplay or my form but my players do not and will not respond to what worked well the day before. I'll change the roles to ++ for my players and see how it plays. Thanks again and keep up the great work. Over 40's player 😂

I practice in arena and then get brain freeze during the game and revert to type. I also get really annoyed by somebody being open and I know I should beat then lose composure in front of goal and miss loads of chances. Then inevitably I lose. Common theme that.

It’s weird how when they introduced the new chem system EA said playing out of position wouldn’t affect your players any more. And now it affects players even more than when it used to drop your stats when someone in your starting 11 played out of position.

Although I like the whole concept of Roles etc but unfortunately it really does narrow down options and essentially force everyone to use the same players.. they should have added an extra Role that was Triple +++ a double ++ and a basic + if you play a player out of position , I think that would have been fair and still allowed us to use whoever we wanted.

A spoke to someone who works in marketing and they said it's probably a marketing strategy if u look at what content this generation wants it's the likes of shorts tick toks short form content so they avoid long explanations of things my guess is your from the older generation 30s + so you have grown up with longer form content so u apreshiate the deep dives in to things so u understand it more I'm personally the same this generation now hasn't got the concentration or the concentration span to listen to long form content Its also a reason why that this generation prefers games that love a micro transaction so they don't have to grind a game they want it here and now

My guess would be there was a lack of communication between the gameplay team and the marketing/communications team. The people who program all of this stuff aren’t the ones who make the in-game announcements and tutorials

recenrly listened to a podcast which included conveesation with one of the main gameplay developers, they explained some aspects of roles, essentially in an attacking sense if they have roles plus plus, there attacking position as a stat will be much higher, this will then massively increase the probability that they the cpu will select the 'best' (i know) run for them to make off the ball, the example they used was that it's like having an extra ten stat points in attacking position.

This roles system is still a work in process as he said in the podcast so I believe we will learn more as time goes on which is good but also a little annoying right now. We are basically testing this system for them right now and they will keep improving it

On one side, i find the whole FC IQ and roles stuff so refreshing, i find myself trying new formations to fit players that i packed or bought or whatever, just to try them on their ++ roles for example and i end up loving them there, just a breath of fresh air on that aspect. On the other hand, i can see how for some people that are more rigid and comfortable with 1 specific formation and style of play and they just wanna use this to maximize their outcomes then it could feel very limiting. Overall i cant imagine someone thinks the bad outweights the good, because i think its amazing that im not able to play walker at cb anymore

Hi Nep. Totally agree with you 12:43 , I’ve realized that once you out your RB as an attacking wingback, your winger tends to cut inside a lot earlier, you can also see the same thing if you have your CAM playing as (i forgot the name of the role, but is something with “wide”), that makes your actual winger to cut inside while your CAM drifts wide.

As someone who is trying to run a one club RTG this sucks. I'm already limited with players that I can use but then I also need to pray to EA that they release those players with the roles that would suit my playstyle since I don't see them droping Evos that would only give a player a role + or a role ++. And yes I know I choose to play this way and nobody is forcing me to only use players from one club but it's still frustrating.

So to all who don’t get it , its like heatmap of players (movement area) do NOT overlaps but instead they are affected by each other For eg- LW inside forward do not cut inside early if CM has box to bot or playmaker. Just switch CM to holding and see your LW cutting inside early…. (So players need space to go/do their roles ). THANKS ME LATER……..

This is something that makes a ton of sense when looking at other EA games. In NHL for example, raising and lowering a players offensive/defensive awareness HEAVILY influences their overall. If you gave a player all 99 stats but lowered their awareness stats to the minimum, their overall would plummet to like a 30… the same thing goes for maddens awareness stat.

This is a very well explained video. That's why I tried your thought with chem styles as well. And to be honest it is very noticable if you combined the attacking positioning or defensive awareness to the ++/+ roles. It's indeed making a difference for the AI in terms of positioning.

I have been keeping players in their roles (and pluses where possible) but haven't been focusing on att and Def positioning stats. Have just applied a load of sentinel and finisher styles. Half-winger + on the cam opens up more space for the RM on inside forward ++ to move more inside

It’s crazy to me how people didn’t realize that role +/++ didn’t increase attributes. I did the Zaha TS card and put at inside forward ++ on full chem and he never out of position makes great runs etc

In Madden ultimate team we know a lot more about EA's formulas, there are usually like 3 or stats per formula. OVR and AWR were in almost every one. I wonder if having a higher OVR player helps win interactions with this game. I think fifa players would be surprised how important OVR is.

I've switched my team up based on your video and I won 2 and drew 1 in Div 4 Rivals.... without a shadow of a doubt my team played like a team and before your video i would have lost all 3! This year i found my own little tactic with the fullbacks becoming my cms on attack and one of my cdms becoming a 3rd cb then my cam play as a second striker . So in attack it becomes more of a 352 and in defense 4213.

Anyone else find that they can be 3-0 up at half time, but once they come out for the second half the opposition turns into a pro player and your players forget the basics. Every pass goes astray, and you could be running them one way but then the cpu takes over and moves them the opposite way?
