Grabbed a Farer Carnegie second hand and was blown away at the build quality, I'm a believer in Farer now.

The Carnegie dial looks stunning, would love to see one in the wild!

Great video. I'll certainly be looking more at Farer.

Thank you! Be careful, every time I go to the site I want 2-3 of their watches. Im nicknaming them the grail killers lol

We have similar tastes lol. I have the Farer Durham and Cayley... The Cayley has stopped me from buying an IWC pilot watch it is so cool, and the durham is very comfortable and a nice dinner watch. Farer is the best sub-$1500 brand out there IMO. The Oak and Oscar is something Ive been looking at for the sandwich dial. Also, I did get my JLC Polaris chrono in blue last week! I do think the black would be awesome as well, but there is no better blue dial chrono out there (reasonably priced)... my next big buy will be a speedmaster so at least I won't have two black dial chronos

Thanks for the comment and watching. We have scary similar taste lol. The Durham is sitting in my cart right now. I love the look of the dial.

I absolutely love your Polaris, especially on the bracelet. It's so refreshing to find a channel that doesn't discuss Rolex and/or Omega exclusively.

Thank you for the kind words! I do love me some Omega though😂- I do love the Polaris line. An under appreciated chrono

It's rare I agree with most reviewers about good microbrands ... but I totally agree with your choices.

Thanks for watching! I think these 3 are at the top of the food chain for micros

I’m a real bracelet guy and I feel that the success of Rolex owes a lot to their quality of their bracelets - especially easylink and glidelock. So when you are looking at “Rolex disrupter’’ micros and indies, the best ones I think are the ones with a really great bracelet game, particularly if they offer on-the-fly micro adjustment. You covered Monta. The two others that also fit the bill are Christopher Ward and Formex. I am not too familiar with Oak & Oscar and Farer, but hopefully they do quality well-finished steel bracelets with on-the-fly microadjustment.

Thank you for commenting and dropping some other brands! I debated Christopher Ward, they’re getting so big it’s hard to know where to put them! I’ve heard amazing thing about the oak and Oscar bracelet, but I prefer their leather, which is probably the best I’ve seen. The Farer bracelets are not good. I purchased 2 and they are flimsy. I’ve heard amazing things about Formex. Haven’t held one but wouldn’t mind getting my hands on one to review!

If pricing on Rolex "entry-level" models are any indicator, there is more going into their oystersteel bracelets pricing than there is to the watches themselves.

For Farer, they mostly ship on straps, though I think their rubber is more comfortable. I haven't tried their bracelet steel, but at those prices I am automatically sceptical. where Farer shines the most is in creative dial designs and in picking auspicious movements.

Thanks for commenting and watching! I’ve owned two bracelets and they’re not great. This is an area they need to step up their game. Outside of that, I think they’re becoming my favorite micro

I will disagree with you, movement wise, bracelet wise, durability wise and accuracy wise Rolex is steps and shoulders above all others exception made of Grand Seiko,JLC, Zenith, IWC, Vacheron, Ulysse Nardin, Patek, Lange & Söhne, Hy Moser, Lang & Heyne and Glasshütte Original. But the watches presented aren't in the same price bracket than a Rolex but could be alternative to a Rolex. I prefer a Seiko Presage Sharp Edge GMT or a Marine Master over those but this is just my opinion.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! For me, Rolex is consistent and reliable, but not interesting. Outside of this year, they’ve stayed true to what has worked, without really expressing or exploring incorporating modern creativity. I’d make the exception for advancing the industry with incorporating ceramics. But I think the brands you mentioned and the ones I shared in the video, have fresh, creative, and ever evolving catalogs, with a few staple pieces.
