I have the black dial version. This model is the best kept secret in the watch industry. In my opinion.

As an attorney, the hours counter is super useful (for billing time). It’s automatic, thin enough to fit under a dress shirt cuff and doesn’t make me nervous like a Daytona. This and the 38mm Zenith El primero are best in class.

Great commentary on the JLC! I always enjoy your take on the watches (and straps), and the B-roll adds a lot to the video. I particularly like when you show shots of you wearing the watch from a distance (e.g., while sitting on the chair at the 15-minute mark) to show extra perspective on the watch dimensions. Thank you for posting!

really great video. I am saving up and a few weeks away for this watch. I had the regular polaris but thought the chrono version has a more intersting dial. Ive tried it on at the dealer and it fits so well. The thickness is so great for a chronogragh. I cant wait to get it! just having a hard time deciding on the blue vs black

I was about to pull the trigger on this piece and then saw that the watch had 100M of water resistance. The Mariner has 300M. I'm a tad nervous of having a JLC on my wrist that I would want to keep at all times. Washing the car, swimming, beach time, etc. I just don't want to think about babying the piece on my wrist and worry about water intake. Am I being silly?
@JimiTime13 ай бұрын
@@snowman7234 with 100M, you’re safe to do any of the activities listed. I’ve only worn mine on the beach once, I wouldn’t take it “diving” but walking on the shoreline is fine lol.

I love JLC - I just wish they had more lines of sports watches. They have the Polaris… I guess the Master Control Counts… MAYBE the Reverso? I think it would be great to see them do a pilot style, or “Explorer-esque” tough, daily wearer. Your Polaris is stunning. That blue is so magnificent.
@JimiTime1 Жыл бұрын
I agree! I wouldn’t mind seeing a traditional diver, maybe bring back elements from the Navy Seals line. I don’t know if I would be able resist a JLC pilot watch. Not sure they ever played in that lane, but one can only imagine how great it would be! Appreciate your support for the channel.

Loved the video, JWill. If you had to rank your watches, where would this one be slotted? What’s your best guess on the service interval?
@JimiTime1 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting! Tough question, I’d have it #2 or #1. My Duometre was my grail, but I don’t wear it often, this is my most worn watch. It was also the first luxury watch I purchased from an AD, so the Polaris has a special place in my heart! So much so I have all the band options now:) I’ve had it for over 4 years at this point, I’ll probably send it next year while it’s still under warranty. My ONLY complaint is the AR coating is fading…I’m gonna have to replace the crystal or remove the AR (leaning towards having my watch maker remove it)

I know I'm a bit late to the party, ive considered the standard blue dial polaris before, I'm still without a blue dial watch in my collection, I own a jlc master ultra thin which I'm going to flip because I just don't wear it, ive recently purchased a breitling B09 pistachio chrono but still would like a JLC in my collection but I'm also looking to add either a vintage heuer or a jack heuer anniversary chrono to my collection, question is would you go chrono or standard polaris? I'm just a bit concerned about having to many chronographs and not wearing them enough 😢 thank you for the great review
@JimiTime1 Жыл бұрын
Just getting caught up and catching up on messages. As you can see, I’m a terrible person to ask about chronos 😂 I have a lot, it’s my favorite complication. With that said, I’d say chronograph. The standard Polaris is amazing, but then I’d be tempted to look at the date version

Great watch but the way they raised prices, they can keep them. Off my list. Omega still the best bang for your buck by far.
@JimiTime1 Жыл бұрын
Omega is producing great watches, not sure why they can’t graduate in the mainstream eyes. For me, this is just the best looking blue Chrono, but that price hike hurt for sure!
@johnvsbear4247 Жыл бұрын
The watch has problems that hold it back. First of all the position of the subdials on the dial is too narrow; caused by the small movement. Then there is the aesthetically unpleasing movementdesign combined with an oversized open caseback which highlights the flaws of the watch. It may be a small chrono, but *looks* like a modular chrono, even though I don’t think it is. Lastly the bracelet isn’t on the level of midrange brand watches from rlx and omega, even though jlc is in a higher price bracket. This can be observed by looking at the fit of the bracelet to the watchhead, where there are considerable gaps, then there is a pin system instead of screws for sizing and the third strike comes by way of the awkward and chunky double deployant mechanism. And the tungsten rotor is another point of contention. Why no full gold rotor like they did in the past on many master models? The watch to me feels like a hodgepodge of productdesign mistakes and sadly doesn’t feel worthy of the name JLC. That being said: it is a likeable timepiece on a surfacelevel with good proportions, a nice dial color and a vertical clutch system. But is that enough for the watchmakers watchmaker?
@JimiTime1 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. One thing I’d note about the bracelet, it’s a quick release bracelet that’s not a proprietary system (I like proprietary because of fit, but I hate being limited on straps), so that’s why it’s not a perfect fit. I would say it’s the best fitting quick release bracelet I’ve experienced.

Love the brand. I’m enjoying my Reverso Tribute Duoface and Polaris Mariner Date. But man, their price increases the last two years have been crazy. I am however curious in either getting a similar Polaris chronograph in black or the burgundy Reverso Tribute in the future. But let’s see what they will release in the next few months.
