I use ZZ with COLL so after hearing about ROLL I started using it for sune cases. The opp/adj edge prediction is also very straightforward with sune, it’s so nice not going into PLL completely blind. Thanks!

TL;DR: Understand how your OLL alg influences permutation on the pieces you can spot before you execute. We basically need an algdb for ROLL and JOLL that has each OLL case with the permutation superimposed on it. At least it's an option. Combined with a breakdown / flowchart of the key edges and corners and what they equal too will have all the info anyone needs. This would definitely require an open source element to compile imo. Maybe some moderators to approve alg submissions to check for accuracy.

I average 8.0 - 8.5 with pure cfop. Should I start learning coll and Zbll?

Yeah learning new things will likely have better ROI than getting better at cross/f2l/oll/pll

so at what speed would you recommend the general cuber to start really working on these? I average low 12 high 11, and I've automatically started with roll, but like joll isn't even really something that comes into consideration aside from some very basic cases.
@JaydenMcNeill5 жыл бұрын
Work on them whenever you're ready, it doesn't matter that much when exactly you start

Hi jay, I saw your video on how to lube cubes and I use traxxas 50k. I was just wondering why your cubes sound very distinct and plush? Do you only use traxxas 50k or do you add something else as well?
@JaydenMcNeill5 жыл бұрын
sometimes i add maru axis oil but the gan cubes are pure traxxas

Talking about good algs: what exactly makes an alg good ? I'm guessing efficiency (move count) and fingertricks are essential. But that can't be it, right ? Otherwise, algs like (R' U R U') (R' F' U' F) (R U R' F) R' F' (R U' R) (the most popular Nb perm) wouldn't be used over r' D' F (r U' r') F' D (r2 U r' U') (r' F r F'). The alternative alg is both regripless (start with your thumbs in front and do all the F moves with your right index finger, except for the last one which is with your right thumb) AND has fewer moves. I'm guessing it's because of the wide moves ?

It has to do with risk. Your second alg is much riskier than the first alg, which is why it's not as widely used.
