As a new’ish runner, at 62 I found the best motivation yet to keep running…… stay healthy, live longer. Great vid👍

I've exercised for years but health and longevity became more of a motivator for me as I approached my 50's.

Look at that pace! Smooth run, clear voice and filming. My guy is owning it!

Thank you,,, the beauty of zone 2 running. If I stepped up the pace I’d be all over the place.

For every beginner runners, this is what we are really looking for. And this is coming from someone who usually does not comment on any videos. Already watched a few videos of yours and you have great insights. Realistically, this is what you need to hear when you are new to running. Kudos and keep on inspiring people!

Thank you so so much… plenty more on the way and I have to say that I struggled in my running journey and have had to learn things the slightly harder way

While watching this, I was coincidentally having breakfast also from McDonald's and I ordered the hash brown too! :) Love this channel! Cheers from 🇵🇭

Thank you for checking out the video and also for staying on board with the channel… and… long live McDonald’s 😂😂😂

"Left to their own devices ...", Garmin Connect is my motivation as is tennis. I started running in the 1970s (same with tennis and weights), and have been through raising kids and going through a career. I would say count the cost of running. I'd also say make running convenient as it's too easy not to run if you didn't bring your shoes, hat, change of clothes, lock for your locker, etc. So set up systems for laundry, clothes, weather and backup plans. If you can't run in the morning, have a backup to run at lunch or the evening. I haven't eaten at MacDonalds in at least a decade. I'd rather cook myself at home.

I was with you 100% until the McDonald’s part 😂😂😂😂. I agree with you fully. Sadly sometimes a 6am start means convenience rather than home cooked food.

Really appreciate your reason 6 - I do quite a bit of marshalling at the local Park Run and - as a well seasoned AG runner - i do have the utmost respect for the people at the back - with all different body shapes - taking up running and completing the 5K. Never ever be ashamed of how you look - your are running and making a difference!

It’s honestly the toughest part of anything, the fear of judgment and self-confidence being low. I have struggle for a long time with this and can relate

Not a new runner, but my biggest struggle is not having a race booked to train for. I find it hard to stick to high-mileage weeks without the goal of preparing for a race and chasing a new PB. Plus, if the race is expensive, it’s extra motivation to hit my weekly mileage! 😂

Hahahaha I loved that ending sentence. We will take motivation however we get it

Point number 6 was spot on. I either run at home on a treadmill or when it’s dark as I’m a slower runner and worry what people think

Good video Audrey! I think another reason most runners including experienced runners quit and give up is because after certain amount years they don’t reach a goal like sub 3 marathon or 245 marathon . And they try compare their self others racing times I’m guilty of this and it took joy from running from me until I realized everybody is different and has different genetics . Diff endurance , different speeds. I may never run a sub 250 marathon not matter how hard I try as bigger runner. But as long as I can finish strong in marathon and my potential , and even consistently run a sub 4 or sub 345 in mostly zone 2 one day that’s fine with me. Running is all about fun for us full time everyday workers, and we try compare ourselves others we’re all diff and have different strengths . Once you run your race and pace it becomes way more fun and motivating ! Good video!

I hear you and I agree. Sometimes it’s why I love running events easy and just taking in the atmosphere and not worry about times and PBs. It can get demoralising when you don’t hit the goals

Yes many reasons, it's having the will power to make a life style for fitness/ excersie, well being, eating a good diet (with out junk food from bad corporations 👎🏽). Most people start in January & tail off after a few weeks just like new gym membership. Keep running 🏃🏽♂️❤️

Yeah I hear and I’ve been there myself. I started with enthusiasm but didn’t have the right people around me and also got injured quick. I sincerely pray some people find their way to my channel because I would love to help people that are going to start in my shoes

As a new runner, I definitely have felt all of these reasons. But still going strong! Thank you for the honest video. The bonus reason was the main reason why I didn’t start earlier

I loved this! Getting to see your commute in and how you integrated your run-- good stuff! That really tied into the last point of how others perceive you as a runner; I see you as a dedicated runner Aubrey! I struggle with #6 also as a muscular runner, but there's nothing to do but to get to it! Kudos for fitting it all in,

Struggled at the start because all running events I went to hardly had people that looked like me so I felt very insecure. I know there are many people in my shoes which makes this worth doing
@kuriositesКүн бұрын
#1 had me laughing. I run partly to be alone; the other part is to just enjoy the outdoors. :) However, as someone who does look like a typical runner (#6), I make a point to smile and wave at walkers and runners that I see to help make their experience positive.

I've found as well a major reason people (myself included) quit running is not having a tangible goal. Wanting to "lost weight or "get in shape" is great, but won't be enough to keep you in the fight after you put up a 100+ mile month and don't lose an ounce. I always encourage people when they start a running journey to sign up for a race. Could be a half marathon 4 months from now, could be a 5K next month. But put a date on your calendar that you need to be ready for, invite people (especially family) to come watch you so you have people to let down if you don't show up. And in the course of going through training blocks, you're going to learn so much about scheduling, nutrition, different types of runs, gear, fueling on the go, what your needs are as a runner, etc. It becomes a much more focused, easy to stay motivated for, journey, rather than just a thing you do from time to time.

SMART GOALS! I hear you. This was also a game changer. It was when I locked in at achieving a sub50 10K that I really committed and stuck with it

Nice video Aubrey. Been running off and on about 3 years now. When I'm "on" somehow life gets in the way in one form or another. When I'm "off" I miss it greatly. Just did a HM 2 weeks ago fighting severe plantar fasciitis. I'll be back stronger than before though.
