Russell Wilson got paid for 5 major reasons: (1) After 7 years starting, he is the most EFFICIENT QB in NFL history at that point in his career. (2) After 7 years, he's led Seattle to 7 winning seasons after they had 4 losing seasons the 4 years before he arrived. Never been done before by any star QB in NFL history. (3) After 7 years, find any QB who ranked among the all time best in several major passing stats in their career. I can tell you that Brady, Montana, Rodgers, Marino, Manning, Manning, Young, Brees, Elway, Aikman were NOT there at that point in their careers. (4) NFL records, NFL ONLY and NFL FEATS Russell Wilson set or established that had never been done before. (5) Because 32 team realized they could have drafted him in the first round and failed and 31 of them foolishly felt he was not good enough for them. After his college career and 7 NFL seasons, can they honestly say Andrew Luck was better on the collegiate and NFL levels? The record books and results say hell no and the excuses will fly why Wilson does well and why Luck struggles but I have yet to see a defense throwing the ball for a QB, running for the QB, making decisions for a QB or taking a hit for a QB. I didn't know that when Wilson gets tackled that Sherman, Bennett and Thomas felt his pain.

These are great examples of how good Wilson really is. He maximized every play and made great decisions. I love his toughness, but hope Seattle strengthens their offensive line. They could also use, in my opinion, a real game-changing receiver. There are many instances where he threw dimes with no separation.
@Jordan-Ramses5 жыл бұрын
The offensive line problems have been somewhat overstated. Russell Wilson will take time if you give it to him. The teams in the division almost always rush 5 because he will sit back there all day if you don't get to him. What i am saying is some of those sacks and pressures are because he held the ball for a long time. The offensive line was good last year. The fact that teams usually bring extra rushers also brings up the sack numbers. You just cannot fail to get pressure against Russell Wilson.

Nice video good breakdown. For one of your future videos could you analyze in the Saints / Steelers game Week 16. I've always hated Wilson, but I knew in his 2nd year that he was going to really good. It almost seems like the play broke down more often than not and no one could tackle him on the run, and he would always find the open guy. And if I'm not mistaken, he had the highest 4th quarter QB rating in 2017 and vs the Lions last year he finished with a 158.3 rating, which is the highest you can get. Seattle had to pay this guy!

it's mostly a schematic issue. Don't get me wrong we could use a bigger WR and some better OL, but the biggest issues are the playcalling is almost always run on 1st and 2nd down and only throw on third and long. Then you add in all those throws are long developing max protect play action passes with only one or two actual routes. Also the pass blocking scheme often has the RT double team the DT and ignore the DE. Better playcalling and schemes would go a long way.

I am a football fan and when you see a lot of money paid to one guy, the rest of the team will suffer. If you want to keep winning, do what Tom Brady did, accept less and give more to your icompatriots on the team. But even with Tom, the system is crazy, even he gets way too much. It speaks to the inequality that exists in much of the world. Sports announcers often will say they deserve it, or they should get paid, and it's so crazy cuz this is what it's come to.
