Targeting the wagner HQ wasn't that kind of difficult. Some of them were posing in front of the building and in the back there was a sign with the adress visible. The Ukrainians could have send a parcel.

@@andreasarnoalthofsobottka2928 The building was reduced to rubble, I don’t see a cheap parcel of any kind being able to do that. Plus there would be no real control on when the parcel would be delivered. Ukraine is at war here, the sums of money spent are a drop in the bucket - they made the right decision using HIMARS to take out the ‘wagner group’ and their HQ building. Tremendous success, lots of bad guys liquidated, they lost a lot of experience and manpower. Some weapons destroyed too. These are old men, but they are savages. Good that so many are out of the picture now.

Rightly pointed out: Afghanistan didn't want to win against religious extremism. Small minority in cities experienced a better life and they wanted to keep it, but the rural life got stuck in the 19th century and even before, they didn't want it and the government was corrupt so not all that was poured into its military system in support of self-reliance was actually used that way. And so the officials ran like rats when Taliban was coming closer. That is not the case for Ukraine. Zelensky stayed with his people all the way. And the Russians can mock him all they want, that doesn't change the simple reality they are going to lose this war and more.

Surely Putin must be under pressure now though, how long are the Russians going to stick with him. Afghans believe they are God’s chosen people for the end times. They will build army in khorasan and fight the anti Christ. That’s why, they cant let go of extremism. They are in the waiting game. Funny thing is that the hadiths they use to justify those were from investigation report of the Persian army and not from Muhammad. They were warning the government that Abbassids were preparing their army in khorasan to invade Persia. The war did take place. Abbassids won. Not sure how mullahs were able to convert that piece of history into a moronic prophecy.

Indeed, very good point. Let me add that russian military logistics have already been tested in this war: if were unable to support an army of less than 200K men though having all means and plans ready, there's not to expect the ability to support 4-5 times more now. So I like to cite Gen. J.J. Pershing "logistics wins wars". If russia mobilized, it would lack the ability to keep all those men fighting, would lack equipment for them (mostly because of poor maintenance and corruption), would not even have the means to move them all to the frontline. For Putin, calling a mobilization would be the most certain way to lose not only this war and his life, but to destroy the russian state from within.

When I think of a general mobilization, I think of what effect that had on young people here in the US during the Vietnam war. One sure fire way to get young people mobilized to protest or overturn a government is to start to conscript them into the military for a highly unpopular war. A lottery ticket to Hades gets ppl riled up in a hurry. 💥. Edit: when you have nothing else to loose, and the truth is staring you in the face because you'll have to become part of the killing machine, suddenly actions to stop the war overcome one's fear of consequences, as it becomes and either or choice. It may not be immediately effective, but that headache is probably something Putin and his gang are avoiding.

@drCox12
@drCox12 Жыл бұрын
I don't know where you got your news from. But the news I read have always been pessimistic about the "will" of the Afghan people: The civilians just tolerated NATO (basically waiting for NATO to leave Afghanistan at some point). And the Afghan security forces trained by NATO were known to be lazy, undisciplined and unreliable overall (they never felt any loyality to something like an Afghan nation but they just had to somehow pay their bills). And then there were also those who opted to resist the invaders (Taliban/insurgents/whatever-you-want-to-call-them). And that's the big misunderstanding about Afghanistan: It's mostly a rural and tribal society. Most of them don't care about a central government (not even federalism), public administration, a common military force, a standardized police force, higher education, universal laws, separation of powers, a constitution etc. They are mostly interested in what's going on within their tribe/clan and solid relationships with neighboring tribes/clans. Many of them don't even consider themselves as Afghans - they don't care about something like a national identity. It's a little bit like the American idea of libertarism (also a mostly rural phenomenon) but with a twist: While American libertarism is all about individual freedom, the Afghan "libertarism" is all about the independence of a collective tribe/clan. And the same mistake is made again by many Westerners regarding the "Taliban government" now. Those "Taliban" aren't a homogeneous group with a clear hirarchy. It's an alliance of convenience consisting of many different groups sharing roughly similar ideas. But Ukraine on the other side is a totally different story. Ukrainians are Europeans with a very strong tradition of nationalism. And although European history is full of changig borders and changig national identities, barely any European can imagine not to belong to a nation at all. A nation with a central government and a constitution and a police and a military and a public administrationa and a justice system. Even if many of these national institutions may be corrupt (truth be told, Ukraine was and still is a very corrupt nation) Europeans absolutely prefer the existence of corrupt institutions to the absence of national institutions. What IMHO froms the will of Ukrainians to fight against the Russian invaders is that a majority of Ukrainians wants got get rid of corruption (thus their eagernes to join the EU). And they do know that belonging to totalitarian Russia will cement corruption. On the other side there's a chance for a sovereign Ukraine to overcome the corruption.

Afghanistan is a conservative country regardless of who runs it. It's just that the Taleban were more conservative than the typical Afghan and took away some very basic human rights like schools for girls. At its root however a non-Taleban ruled Afghanistan is only slightly more open than one ruled by the Taleban and beset by the same problems as its neighbors- endemic corruption, organized crime, nepotism and oligarchic rule -which stem from the Western attempts to introduce foreign concepts like democracy, social equality and openess, which only a small elite could benefit from but something utterly unwanted by the majority who are used to traditional rule. NATO attempts to raise an Afghan army only created weekend warriors who giggled when the RPG fell off the launcher as well as officials that used training funds to buy apartments in Dubai.

@@lenrichardson7349 True - but there are some severe questions over the quality of that training, a lot of the corruption based. I've heard a significant number of anecdotes regarding conscripts that got through their entire 12 months sharing rifles and without firing more than a dozen bullets as the quartermaster was flogging off the stores. Others where they did have shooting practice, but were forbidden to hit the target plates so the range officers could pocket the maintenance money. Lots of accounts where training exercises never happened but the resources allocated for it were still listed as used. Obviously you have to make some allowances with these anecdotes for the difficulty of source checking, but there are so many it's difficult to dismiss them all as fiction. Plus, of course, even the best trained 12 month conscript is only going to be suited for low end tasks - grunt work, driving and logistics. They aren't going to be able to replace experienced weapon or equipment crews with them.

The bridge is damaged - not destroyed. I suspect Ukraine doesn't actually want them to be entirely cut off. They just want to stop supplies going in. Ammunition is the last thing Russia lacks. It's the ability to get it to where it needs to be, when it needs to be there, that seems to cause them great trouble. Basing their entire logistics puzzle around railway was a boneheaded mistake to say the least. That basically makes you a home-defender. And the Ukrainians have so far been able to capitalize on this greatly. The losses of several large depots have caused them a logistical nightmare. And railroad sabotage in the Donbas is not helping that one bit.

_The tanks and armored vehicles especially are being destroyed at a far faster rate than what the Russians can manufacture replacements._ And you know this how? Russia has astronomical amount of equimpment and it is Ukraine that runs out of it and NATO cannot help Ukraine anymore delivering miserable numbers. Several months ago they promised that Russia would run out of cruise missiles, but Russia didn't slow down one bit, quite oppissite actually. NATO and US simply project. In 1999 they nearly ran out of Tomahawks after 10 weeks of bombing Yugoslavia and Clinton had to beg Eltsyn to pressure Yugoslavia to give up because US was running out of ammo. So they think that Russia also should run out of everything. Projecting your own weaknesses. Just a reminder: most of the combat operations in the Ukraine are not even conducted by Russian forces, but by LDNR forces supported by Russian C4ISR and firepower. But in terms of her real military potential, Russia has used less than 10% of her military and Putin was quite candid about this when he said “we have not even begun to act seriously“. What do you think this war will look like if Russia decides to really unleash her full military power, that is the 90% of forces which are currently not participating in the SMO?

The explanation is Russian equipment captured by Ukraine is getting older and in greater disrepair. Additionally, several weapons factories in Russia have shutdown due to the sanctions, including Uralvagonzavod Corporation and Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant, which make tanks. Western countries are having difficulty keeping up with weapons demand from Ukraine, even after increasing production capacity. So a reasonable conclusion is that Russia, with reduced production capacity, is at a significant disadvantage, particularly because of significant ongoing losses of equipment.

Air control is nice, but what Ukraine really needs are another 3,000 long range artillery pieces and about 5,000 more tanks. Otherwise it is just the infantry of Ukraine up against Russian artillery and interview which would be a meat grinder if Ukraine can;t throw back just as much artillery on a pound for pound basis.

Terrible take. You have no idea what they needs. Thus far they have been waging a successful war against a stronger opponent BECAUSE they don't amass large groups of targets that are easy to spot. Russia is struggling, and potentially losing specifically because they are just a big mass of flesh and metal with a target on their back. The reason HIMARS and JAVELINS have been so successful are because they operate with precision and speed. They fire and move. They're hard to target, and hard to locate. So no. They do not need thousands of tanks and artillery batteries. They need dozens of them with plenty of ammo and training.

When I listen to this cool and collected military strategist analyze the situation in the South of Ukraine, it is easy to understand and to predict the outcome of this confrontation. Ukraine is playing a strategic game against the brute opposition forces of the Russian command, and time is on the side of Ukraine - every day the supply to Russian troops becomes more depleted, and every day the pending surrender becomes more a reality. Russians will surrender in droves within days. The Russian command has deserted the soldiers and they know it. They will not fight - it is better to live in defeat as a POW than to go back to the "motherland" as Cargo 200.

Curiously, recruitment centres in Russia are full of applicants. Maybe there is some sort of Bermuda Triangle effect between Moscow and the Donbas?

Yeah, before they say " within September we will oust Russian troops", now "we will wait till the Russians starve (they assume the won't too), ah and I want to see during winter..... In this channel when somebody predicts something (e.g. Russians are running out of ammo or something else) and they get it wrong, they predict another version to fit their narrative. I follow this channel, so i can get a good laugh, how this man can know if they're running out of weapons, when it is difficult to put an estimate to begin with, Russians have lots of Soviet weapons, and beside that, some major defence Russian companies have not been sanctions yet (by the EU or USA or some EU countries) for example the company that produces kalibr and so on.
