How did Russia fail?

Here is the question that everyone is interested in: How strong is the Russian army? How combat-ready is the Russian army, is it a regional or global force, and is it capable of fighting on two fronts? Does the army enjoy the trust of society, is it the backbone of power, and what is its political role? Why does the Russian army have practically no experience in conventional combat against other regular armies?
