Eukrasha eliminated 2 buttons thus making it more controller friendly.

I prefer SCH still but SGE is quite fun, the healers are all pretty close for me tbh but I always default to SCH or AST, then SGE, then WHM.
@dragonspight2 жыл бұрын
After the Lily change, WHM is easily my favorite healer. Every part of its loop is obviously more simple than the other healers, but optimizing it feels more like a fun puzzle and less like a button bloated chore like AST and SCH, and I just haven't gotten to find my stride with SGE yet.

I swear the majority of tanks I get in dungeons see the shield and kardia then think mitigation isn’t needed.
@ghostblade1042 Жыл бұрын
I swear as a tank i love pressing my 3 GNB mits on top of sage shield,it’s basically free immorality on a pull right there. Damage went down to 1000ish per hit of the mobs and i have 57000 hp, it’s masochist wet dream right here.

I'm surprised you don't like SCH in dungeons. I've always found it to be the most comfortable healer to play because there's just nothing that stops you from targeting the tank and using all your ogcds. No misery/assize obviously takes its damage down a bit, but getting to start your AOE dps while running is super nice too.

I’m like you in that Scholar was my previous favorite healer, and Sage is now my favorite healer. My reasoning however is a little different: Kardia’s automation. The two healers are pretty similar except that Kardia is a set it and forget it ability, except when it’s not. Being able to flexibly move it around to target whoever needs targeting is fantastic. Soteria works wonders with it as well because it is so much simpler to manage than Fey Union, and isn’t linked to the Faerie Gauge as a resource. It seemed like every time I wanted to use Fey Union I’d have to manually target the tank and activate it, and hope that I had enough Gauge for that to actually matter. Not that I never had 100 Faerie Gauge for the most part when I wanted to use it, but it was pretty frustrating when I’d Fey Union someone, use up all the Gauge because I forgot to undo it, then want to use it again only to see I’m only at 30 Gauge at that point and making it far less effective than I wanted. After Kardia/Soteria’s much more intuitive design, the second reason I like Sage more is the slow charge nature of Addersgall stacks and that the stacks are explicitly only used for healing. It always felt bad to even use Aetherflow stacks on anything but Energy Drain, even knowing that sometimes it was necessary and correct to do so. I think this could be a simple fix by the job design team, but may remove some of the complexity of Scholar which I’m not sure is a thing people would appreciate. Anyway, my fix would be simple: make Aetherflow give you 3 stacks of Energy Drain to use, separate from the healing parts. I dunno, call them Aethersting or something. Or just Energy Drain stacks. You’d have to adjust potencies perhaps, but the usage of Energy Drain is still the main reason I don’t like Scholar. That choice sucks, and Sage doesn’t make you choose. You use the stacks for MP or healing only. I actually dislike Eukrasian Dosis, and would prefer it was just a separate button like the other healer have. I understand why it’s there and it feels right from a lore standpoint, but I still don’t like it.

I started a couple months ago and I have all healers unlocked. For me, scholar is best, only because the fairy heals are so good, like I dont ever have to heal in low level content since my fairy does it for me. And it feels better since I can save 3 stacks of aetherflow and use them all in 10 seconds and pop the next aetherflow for another 3. While it sucks I cant use aetherflow out of combat, it's still a better way to get my stacks imo.

Scholar was my favorite in ARR and HW, and it was still pretty good in SB. I can't stand it after the ShB rework though. It's not the job I fell in love with anymore. But I love Sage even if it's pretty similar since I have no previous better version of Sage to compare it to. I'm not constantly being reminded of the changes I didn't like when I play it, y'know? And it really feels like it was designed with current content in mind. The only changes I would make would be to make it's damage more complex and to remove the target requirement from Pneuma. Oh, and give Icarus a second charge Also Sage is a monster in Crystalline Conflict, it's so much fun!

One thing I've always wondered on optimizing for sage is tauochole. A strong heal plus 10% mit; I guess it's strong for dungeon content but I was hoping it'd be more useful in raids. As it stands, sage should use it for it's healing potency, but the 10% mit is weird because in most cases the mit is only good against boss autos, because most content involving things like double tankbusters where taurochole would shine, don't let it work because they're designed to be tank swapped due to vulnerability debuffs.
@notrowleyjefferson19512 жыл бұрын
Id say it’s more useful against boss autos or mini tankbusters. Like in ucob, there’s a lot of non-swap busters that do hefty damage, and that’s where taurochole can really shine
@apathy2512 жыл бұрын
unironically taurochole is more usefull in old content where bosses can crit you for 80% of your hp on an auto

Honestly, I’ve always felt better just using Krasis + Soteria to deal with a TB. Unless it’s a GNB. Then I’ll probably have to bust every single TB tool because GNBs for some reason don’t know how to mitigate.

Ahh a fellow man of taste! I really enjoy SGE. I'm a casual(ish) player and played healer occasionally last expansion, mainly for quick queues when I didn't have much time to play. Now, with SGE, it's my go-to job despite being a DPS player in my heart. Definitely still has it's problems, but I really like the kit. I wish that they had some more abilities similar to Chloromancer in RIFT (my favorite healer when I played it) it's a super similar style but some of the abilities were really cool, like a debuff you put on an enemy and anyone that attacked that enemy would be healed (like Bloodwetting, but a debuff), a debuff that causes the enemy's next attack to heal whomever it hits for 200% the damage dealt (I realize that doesn't really work in FFXIV), DoTs that trigger their version of Kardia, channeled ability that does damage and heals, and even attacks that do less damage but heal more. Regardless though, really fun job. My new favorite.

Sage is an absolute monster in Dungeons. I would rank healers for dungeon content: SGE, WHM, SCH... and somewhere in the back, AST. AST rocking the weakest AOE spell, and the only one requiring a target. Which is gross, since it has the most going on oGCD wise.

Except for the lvl 81 dungeon that is killer for sage, if the tank pulls Wall to Wall.

Sage is at least 2x more fun than scholar for me. I like the faerie concept, but find healing tanks in dungeons to be a pain...I wish aetherpact was better or just more efficient. All that said, I like dungeons, so it's a pity FF14 dungeons don't have much depth to them, both in clearing and reward; suppose the same can be said for all light party dungeons. I'm interested in seeing how the new dungeons play out, but I always think about doing M+ in WoW and wish I could do similar in FF14 and don't think they will be close.

I thought I’d pick up SGE preferably, but fell back to SCH. While Eukrasia is nice in concept…fuck trying to DoT multiple enemies. I found healing on SGE in dungeon more painful than SCH. SGE tends to make me sleepy when I play it. I have to switch off to another healer after playing it for a few fights otherwise I get bored.

Astro is my favorite for how busy it is and for having multiple thing it can do. My only issue with Astro atm is just MA being useless most of the time and holding Light speed for bursts instead of movement. I would love 2 charges of light speed to make it more flexible
@toodleselnoodos67382 жыл бұрын
I feel like they should change Astrodyne and seals to be similar to MNK’s chakras. First off, let us Redraw as many times, but if you get a set, it gives you Lord or Lady seal, but does damage. If you do a “bad combo”, it’s ok. It’ll give you the missing Lord/Lady deal you don’t have, but it’ll do a heal instead. So that way, AST have to actively fight randomness to get the outcome they want, but can deviate if they mess up to help the party recover. I’m not sure what the super big effect should be when you have both Lord/Lady seals though.

As a scholar main in both casual and savage las expansion I also have shifted into sage. Sage has become my main for all kinds of content currently. At least for me the biggest reason for the shift was the fun/visual stimulation factor scholar was lacking in more casual play. Like scholar can do anything healing and mitigation wise but I wish they made the entire visuals from the dps side more appealing. Ruin as a movement option feels so outdated animation wise. Same with energy drain. And the entire "have to use etherflows before overcapping" feels off when you using it an ability that looks so underwhelming. The entire kit of sage merged my love for barrier healing with a super interesting and visually stimulating dps kit.
@toodleselnoodos67382 жыл бұрын
Dyskrasia sucks though. They should axe it and make Toxikon the main AoE tool with Adder’s Sting being reworked for something else. Of all the SGE things…*that* (Dyskrasia) is biggest stain of lazy design. Personally, I find Broil IV more satisfying than Dosis III. I think I’m a simp for explosions and fireballs over Gundam laser beams.

Sage is by far the easiest healer. Has the most ridiculous mp management, never running out of mp unless you suck really hard, or people in your party die dozens of times. And if anyone wants to compete me on that argument...I literally never healed any savage ever and joined a p4s farm party as Sage yesterday...killed after 3 wipes, never died, or ran out of MP, even with 3 party deaths. My parse sucked, but still managed almost 4k dps, without being BiS...Sage is the most braindead healer.
@toodleselnoodos67382 жыл бұрын
I agree. I don’t try hard on SGE and I can easily hit high parse because…there’s nothing to do. I find all the other healers more fun because they got something interesting going on. For AST, got cards and oodles canoodles of ogcds to play with and setup heals. WHM for good ole blasty fun. And my favorite, SCH because it’s fun working out which big cooldown phase you want to do. Big shields and Expedient are fantastic prog tools. And I LOVE Dissipation now. All thanks to SGE. There are times I play as SGE and when things god bad, I seriously thought “Where the fuck is my Dissipation?!?” I don’t get to play SCH as much because too many shield spammy SGEs that have no idea how to play a healer, even when handed one with training wheels. And in PF, there’s always gonna be a SGE player with that as their only healer, and they don’t know how to play with other healers. This is partially a rant, but SE really needs to fix the fact that SGEs can grief other SGEs and SCHs.
@capt.sparrow88982 жыл бұрын
Sage is easiest, but has skill ceiling. Its weaker than sch but you can manage to match sch level of shielding if done right which only skilled sage can do. Any average sage player will get rekt when he goes in high difficult content like ultimates
