100% agree. I am not an ND fan but I made the same comment in the preseason. Some ND fans took offense to it because it seems like your disrespecting past QBs. Take it however you want, but Hartman is a heck of a lot better than Tommy Rees, DeShone Kizer, Tyler Buchner etc. etc. etc.

Facts and I don’t like ND because there were overrated by the media which lead to free tickets to playoff chances a few years ago. But respect ND now only bc of the coach.

Such an indictment of Kelly and Rees that they couldn't recruit and or develop a stud QB....at a iconic school like ND! CMF has rectified that and improved the roster drastically and quickly. No more bringing a knife to a gun fight playing the big boys anymore. Go Irish

@@badams4982 huh 🤦‍♂️. There good in there conference but they did horrible in the playoffs. Because there were undefeated but other teams in different harder conferences that had a one loss got overlooked bc supposedly ND was a great team. There were Flat out overrated. There’re negative in the cfp playoffs 0-2 buddy with HORRIBLE performances. If your happy like Michigan, TCU being undefeated but can’t compete at the end of the day by all means happy for y’all winning y’alls conference but stop blasting how good your teams is but when its time to compete y’all do horrible and complain why y’all not in the playoffs. With all that, I have nothing against this new ND, I like the new coach and how he running. Until they can prove they compete outside their conference I’m need you stop some smoking and keep quite buddy.

My first listen here. Hartman just makes everyone else look better. We have the most balance ive seen in a long time, and a slew of really good back ups that will pay huge benefits. Go Irish

I don't understand how one could possibly think ND didn't have a chance against their big 3 games... they SMOKED basically the same Clemson team a year ago with a much worse team. They were also beating OSU until the 4th Q with a much worse team, and they only lost to USC by two scores. All with a MUCH worse team.

The OSU game was not that close. OSU completely shut out ND in the second half. But I do think it will be a great game this season.

ND looked better all over the field. Clemson couldn't stop the run even when they knew it was gonna happen.

While I’m not a Kelly fan he did improve ND overall. However, his top QBs rarely panned out and ND was left with (sometimes) overachieving backups. Last year, ND was going to struggle even with Buchner. He’s not comfortable in the pocket. He’s a great runner but not a great scrambler. After he got hurt the cupboard was bear. For a LONG TIME ND fans saw so many of the pieces put together but a glaring one always missing. Now, there is hope. ND fans are still trying to figure out how to react since it’s been so long since we were competent under center.

You also have to factor in coach Parker and Guidugli, both took over Reese’s spot, the offense actually looked like an offense out there, not just a bunch of calls trying to look smart. Coach Parker knows what he has and is going to utilize them, Reese’s scan offense was unbearable to watch for years.

I've always admired Joel Klatt's honesty; and after all, this is only his (quite informed) perspective. I had to laughfor instance, when Joel said the USC game was, "more exciting." I wasn't excited at all watching USC (lol). 👀. Plenty of issues for ND to correct (special teams, particularly kicking; some timing concerns, occasional sloppy tackling). But, oh, my. Irish fans have sat up and are paying attention. GO IRISH!!! ☘

Also we beat down Clemson last year, and beat them in 2020, and lost to them by 2 at Clemson in 2015, I’m not saying it’s going to be a cake walk, but idk why the perception is they are heads and tails above the Irish. They hired a great OC tho, so we will see

Joel is getting the good stuff here. Not many talking about the coaching situation at Navy. But Notre Dame had a good o-line last season. You tell me who can average over 200 yards a game or so last season. Can’t do that without an o-line By the way, Turnover Tommy Rees didn’t call Tyler. Tyler got embarrassed at Notre Dame’s Blue and Gold game by Sam Hartman. Marcus Freeman said immediately after the game, that Sam was the starting quarterback. That is why Tyler contacted Tommy at Alabama.
