Why schools are banning fidget spinners

The fidget spinner gives kids something to do with their hands, but schools are banning them, saying they're a distraction. Pediatrician Scott Krugman said it started as a digital distraction for kids with ADHD.

Bacon Man i think it might also help people who dont have adhd since fidget toys work because they are mostly used with the finger tips, and the finger tips have a strong connection with the part of brains that need the stimulation that adhd causes us to lack, which causes us to stim. thats why they work, it provides that stimulation. if someone who doesnt have adhd also isnt getting enough stimulation or something (i dont know if neurotypicals can fall short with stimulation because something is boring like adhd brains.) then fidget toys could help them not zone out? again, this is just speculation. overall, fidget toys are used to help all children in classrooms where they have fidget toys available all the time, since fidget toys dont JUST keep us from zoning out. its for other types of stims, too. and everyone stims. if you repetitively click your pen and stuff like that and you are neurotypical, thats still stimming.

Spinners also help with anxiety, believe it or not, a lot kids have it and don't even know. It's also helps with stress according to my younger sister and her classmates. Kids and younger adults are stressed. Spinners help them cope. It's not a fad, it actually helps people. It helps me when I'm nervous in social situations. Yes, there are kids that just play with them, but they are not just stupid toys.

They're honestly so loud. It's all I can hear during a test. And the students in my class don't even use them because they have a disorder such as ADHD, but only because they don't want to listen to their teacher and that gives them something to entertain themselves with while they wait for lunch and the end of school to come. It's just a replacement for their phones because they're not aloud to use their phones in the middle of class (though they do it anyways), but they're aloud these litter toys. It bothers me as a student who is trying to learn as well as concentrate on my work, but I don't know if my school will ever do something about it, because it might just be me who is annoyed by the loud hissing noise the spinner makes. I'll just have to smile and bare it.

Also, when did you get your homework? I get mine on Thursday and have to be done on Wednesday. Simple as that. But, if you need help with getting prepared for these things, I recommend you do your research, or start working on, your presentation already, I do it, and I get a A or B each time.

Other than the ADHD thing with fidget spinners, I really see no point with them. It's no more entertaining than spinning a quarter on a table. My school didn't ban fidget spinners, but some of the teachers took away some kids' spinners because they were spinning them while they were teaching. Fidget spinners will die off in a month or so and be long forgotten and everyone will be crawling all over a new trend while saying "fidget spinners are old".
