Because it is NOT a church or religion ! There is a reason why sects can trive in the US, because you do not differentiate a sect from a religion. This is exactly why they have no footing in the EU. Oh they can be here and do there "recruiting" but they need to be very carefull and keep between the "lines" because if they would try that here they will be put on a plane straight back to the US. We do preach freedom but not at the expense of others or individuals thats where your freedom stops.

They’re no different to any of the current “established” religions. Just a quick look at the things done by the Roman Catholic Church throughout its history makes sciencefictionology seem quite civilised by comparison. Not that the Scientologist cult has anything to be proud of, they’re just a more recent example of how cults/religions behave especially once they have the money/political clout in their grubby little mits.

Because it's probably in a greyer area than that. Remember, even most mistreated scientologists still believe in the religion and many Hole residents are likely convinced either that they deserve it, or at least that they can earn back their position and get back on the Bridge to total Freedom if they suck it up. Most probably despise Miscavige but since he controls the church and they're not ready to leave and disconnect from everyone and everything they know, they feel they have no other choice but to play along. Debbie's situation does sound like actual kidnapping, but I guess in most cases they don't actually point a gun at you. More like tell you: "Are you sure you wanna leave? You know what happens if you do..."

Miscavage is probably more worried about former executives who are whistleblowers than the average run of the mill scientologist. The former executives can testify to direct conversations with Miscavage and also to his actions as seen first hand. They may also have some documentation, and gain witness support from others inside the organization. One day Miscavage may find himself criminally prosecuted for his physical abuse of people along with anyone who took part in it. Not to mention a huge, devastating lawsuit by prior victims who unite, and his fall will be great indeed!

@@andysmith1996 Honestly, it's not really any dumber than most other religions. The main difference is that it's so recent. There are still plenty of people around that actually knew Hubbard as he only died in 1986. Meaning that while the religion is a little over 70 years old, there are a lot of people that are still living who met him and interacted with him. It makes it a lot easier for people to call BS on than even the LDS where at least Joseph Smith died in 1844, so the likelihood of meeting somebody who met somebody who met somebody who met somebody that met him may not even be possible. Personally, I'm not a Scientologist or Mormon, I can't say I really care one way or another, but it's worth realizing that the main difference is that these are recent religions, and especially in the case of Scientology, where the standards for what is believable probably should be a bit higher.

Thanks, I was in Scientology in 1968 as a 19-year old college student. I didn’t find what I was looking for at that time and left. They sent materials to my parents house for 20 to 30 years. My parents begged them to stop as I lived 1200 miles away but they refused. Scientology found me at my parents house as I had back surgery and was in a body cast. They tried to get me to come back but I explained I found my path and what was wrong with them to harass my parents. They called at 10:00 PM and I told them to never contact me again. This still did not stop the mail 3 to 4 days a week until we sold the house.

Held hostage in a neighborhood by gangs ? I loved in LA and saw it happen to others. Bangers sitting on their doorstep so they couldn’t go out and tend to their business, etc. Restaurants hiring mercenaries to protect their business 24/7 rather than pay the gangs for “protection” money. I used to wonder how many tacos you had to sell to pay your mercenaries and make a profit ? I hope you find a more peaceful place to live life sister. California’s wonderful if you have a lot of cash, but the rest of the countries really not so bad if you don’t.

@@janetshew5028 - sounds more like Compton '88. I live in a virtual hub of active realities coalescing in...unpredictable ways. Death is always the featured guest at poolside in Beverly Hills, as well. Some of the living dead look quite acceptable wrapped in two tons of steel and glass and copper and silicon. Gangs possess a unique language. Oddly enough 99.999% of the time they want: honesty and respect. That's it. Crack dealers are another animal than kids hanging out. Most gangs respect total impoverishment, as well, if you respect yourself. I started in Inglewood, 1953 - 1959.

Music to all of our ears. SO much hoping that the ruling is in their favor, that the documents were signed under extreme duress. Your signature is meaningless if your consent has been removed. They were in no position to give their consent. It was all stripped away by the physical and psychological torture they endured. It's about time that the courts see it just that way. Also, I am hoping that all of you guys in Clearwater and surrounding areas don’t get hurt by this incoming storm. Stay safe! Last but not least: I am counting down the minutes until Mike’s book is delivered to my Kindle! I can't wait to devour the entire book. Now we just need to get Marc Headley to drop that second book and soon!

I wish there would be some type of lawsuit or criminal investigation where Shelly Miscavige gets a subpoena in order to testify in front of the court. I think this would the first domino to fall, a beginning of the great opening of Pandora's Box that is needed to fully destroy David's hold on Scientology. Full panic mode is sure to ensue and we all know she is either gone, or has been held against her will for 15 years.

I logged on a bit late and missed the opportunity to post this reply in the chat... On the one hand I agree that some sort of additional support options would be nice, for Aaron, this channel, and the Scientology abuse awareness community. However, limiting some/certain content to paid subscribers... would essentially go against the purpose of the channel... which I think is to get out as much information as possible regarding the problems and abuses within Scientology to as wide an audience as possible. Simply my two cents. From someone that isn't a Scientologist. Has never been a Scientologist. And probably has never even known a Scientologist... LOL! But is still horrified by what I've seen and read about Scientology over the past couple years. Keep up the good work Aaron!

I think a lot of it is that 1) we only care about missing or kidnapped minors 2) Scientology can do whatever it wants with minors if the parents are brainwashed into signing the 'church' their parental rights away, which they almost always are, the parents are controlled by the auditing system and wanting to get to the next level. So anything they want to make a parent sign, they will. Same with adults signing away their rights in other ways. Like, when they're in the hole, they technically agreed to be there. It's kind of like being abused at a private party where the only other person there is the host and they have a lot more money and power than you, so you CAN leave and you CAN accuse them publicly when you do, but you kind of are going to have a hard time exercising the rights you have on paper. But it's mostly a case of don't underestimate how far people are willing to go when they think these rewards and punishments are real and they've become addicted to the approval of the organization.
