I wonder if they’re comfortable in that darkness and pain bc they’re often isolated and scrutinized for being themselves. Also, sometimes they can never resolve conflicts and it’s a repeating cycle in their life that they just can’t get past. I’ve seen scorpios also turn cold and cut off whatever’s causing them pain as well. The transformative aspect is the most interesting to me bc they can turn it into a positive or negative thing.

Idk that this is true because if we look at vedic astrology which is far older than western. We can see that both signs are under Mars which is a planet described by action and forwardness along with impulsivity. So why would they hold on onto it? To that identity when they are defined by movement or transformation in your words. What is more stagnant than holding on for a sign of transformation?

As a feminine signs Scorpio is representative of the more internal aspects of Mars, less to do with action and impulsivity as Aries and more to do with passion and intimacy. Scorpio is also a fixed sign which lends further to the interpretation that it can be stagnant in some ways. The kind of change and transformation that Pluto rules is generally destructive and painful, even in its growth and evolution. Sometimes a product of that predominant Plutonian energy is being comfortable with the uncomfortable and even preferring it. All these things in combination lend to the interpretation that Scorpio can harbor old hurt feelings as a sort of comfort.
