I don't think it was "Mr Brownstone" and heroin wasn't what killed Scott, it was multiple drug intoxication, which heroin was Not one!. Scott took opiate blockers like "Suboxone", but they only block opiates!. So you can drink and eat xanax and do coke/crack, etc, just not percs/dope.. From the VR days till his death Scott claimed "im sober" what he meant was "im not shooting heroin!".. You can't tour on heroin!. The only guy who could do it (long term) was "Johnny Thunders" and in no way were his tours as big as VR, STP or Guns!..

I've watched alot on it and don't side one way or another but I did watch soaked in bleach a bunch and never picked up till the last time I watched that when Kurt binged he'd check into a shithole hotel and usually checked in under the alias " Bill Bailey " ...which is Axl real name, so i wonder how much of that has to do with the nirvana axl beef at the vmas. It could definitely make for a good video, I'm pissed I didn't ask Doug if they knew he used that name to check into hotels, if he thought it was a jab at axl etc. But that whole time period from like a little before the rome gig to his death is packed with info

Reality becomes twisted in a bubble like that, surrounded by sycophants and yes men. Becoming famous at a young age and then the trappings that go with it create a false reality that leads to a rude awakening when it's gone. I was more excited to be able to hear Duff, Matt, and Slash play again. It was a great project, and those 2 albums are still some of my favorite music ever made. Scott is a great frontman, on stage, one of the best ever, like up there with Cornell, Mercury, Jagger, etc., but he is a fucking asshole. He treated his friends like shit, his band mates like shit, he treated his wives like shit. He had a lot of baggage that he never was able to handle. It fuckin sucks and I was in tears when I heard he had died. Also, VR could have gone on. They almost had a deal with Scott Todd, who would have been much cooler in VR than Buckcherry. I also always wondered why Myles Kennedy didn't pick up where he left off. I think that could have worked. I would have listened. Bands just don't recover from losing lead singers. The nature of the beast makes them the de facto face of the project. Weiland let that shit go to his head

I saw STP on New Years 2001-02 at Orlando Hard Rock. That was the best concert just by the way they did it! They came out playing all their hits, then they played all their hits acoustically at the edge of the stage sitting down! Then played all their hits electrically to a roaring audience that was 100% satisfied! The band as a whole never not one time missed a note or sounded out of sorts in any way! I’ve gone to over 100 different concerts with some of the greatest rock band. But STP was the best! I’ve seen The Who in 83, Blue oyster cult in 1980, Ronnie James Dio the holy Diver tour, Megadeth 3 times, Slayer 3 times, Priest twice, Maiden in 84, The Allman brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Ozzy, Def Leppard, J. Geils, Joan Jett, Alice Cooper, Outlaws and Molly Hatchet 3 times each, Triumph, Stranger, Thin Lizzy , Dream Theater, Audioslave, Alice In Chains, Foghat, Foreigner, Grand Funk, The Firm , UFO, Smashing Pumpkins, Greatfull Dead, and so many I could go on and on and on but STP was the best as far as sound, song selection, energy! I’ve seen Tool, Yes 9021live tour, Meshuggah, Jethro Tull, Rossington Collins, Deep Purple and as a whole STP was just the total package! 3 bandsI wanted to see but couldn’t were The Doors, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stevie Ray Vaughn because either they were just before my time or they died or both actually all three along with Led Zeppelin and Syd Barrett and of course Jimi Hendrix! But the bands I did get to see some were so incredible like Yes on my birthday, Tool was amazing but STP just were so on that night!!!

Jimi was my first concert, was all you can imagine & more. Seen many bands since but some stand out more than others. I thought the Outlaws were one of the best shows I had seen. He was late asf (didn't rock up the first day then 3 hrs late the next planned meeting) the first time he was supposed to sing with them in a private session to get the feel of the band. They were just so stoked to have him fronting them, they persevered. His drug habit caused a lot of friction. Duff had gotten clean and knew it could be done...Scott just didn't want it bad enough. I love VR but definitely preferred STP
@lisaverweij88063 жыл бұрын
What a story. I'd never speak ill of the dead, live and let live and all that. Basically, if I'd got myself n 3 others working hard on the tracks, showing up everyday and had to go through that agonizing wait for almost a year for a singer, and the one finally got there.. super late.. knowing the industry would be waiting. I think I would have called it then and there, its just a major red flag concerning dependability. I adored the albums they made, but for the guys involved I feel like it was more painful than it should have been. I wasn't there, I don't know the story, none of us do. All in all, its a pity the band couldn't go on and do more albums but i think they made the best of a devolving situation. Cut them all (including Scott) some effing slack.

@Matt-cr4vv Жыл бұрын
Context matters. Everybody in that band was doing other projects the entire time. The issue with SW was that he wasn’t put together enough to pull it off. He couldn’t manage to uphold his commitments how he should have with VR how were they supposed to approach him adding another major band to his commitments? He was being sneaky about it without even talking with them about it and was causing issue in the band already. Even without adding that he can’t be depended on to even show up all while he’s making demands at the expense of everybody else. I would bet that had he been operating diffferenly like the other four had been that their reaction would’ve been different than it was. But that didn’t even matter they were on a crash course to the end with or without that if you look at all the other stuff he was doing anyways. He became entitled to things that it just wasn’t workable. And so they all moved on and he went back to STP. But you can’t fault them not listening to the guy when he never even presented his desire to work with STP to them directly. The dude wasn’t even traveling with them. All of that plays into the response he gets with that.

What they don't realize is that they pretty much killed rock n roll on radio when they kicked him out and thought it would be just fine. They were one of the last links to kick ass Rock N Roll still being mainstream. Since then there's been no true Rock N Roll in my opinion. Nothing original at least except for The Black Keys. I think they take their position in society for granted and don't think about how the people need the music. Especially original rock. It's art and bands like Greta Van Fleet don't scratch the surface of what it takes to be truly original and not copycat riffs and stage moves and vocal phrases... It's pathetic. Rock isn't about how high of a note you can hit. It's about the passion you put into it! I think these guys unknowingly suffocated Rock on radio because the people that invest in it didn't see the value anymore.

I kind of sensed Scott was pretty distant from the rest of the band and they were two camps even in 2005. I transfered to Hard Rock Cafe Orlando from New Orleans because of Hurrican Katrina, and they had just played a show to benefit those devestated by Katrina. My co workers were telling me that after the show the other guys (everyone but Weiland) hung out after and were like chilling with the restaurant workers, laughing, drinking together and just having a really good time. Scott had pretty much taken off right after the show and back to the hotel. I even remember a buddy of mine saying like "yea, typical frontman behavior." I get that people sometimes do their own thing and he wasnt obligated to hang with them all the time, but when you are suppose to be a unit and your main guy isolates himself from everyone else, it usually causes a rift..... I think he was one of the greatest frontmen of all time, dont get me wrong, but that's a lot of what happened here. It's shame bc they could have done so much more and been even bigger of a band if his ego, drug addiction, and him separating himself wouldnt have been a factor. From what I gather, it also got him fired from STP as well. It is what it is though and all you can really do is enjoy the work he left behind

If you look back to the documentary thing they did when they were searching for their singer there were issues with Scott right away. All you people saying heroin was the reason, you're wrong. According to Slash, Duff, and Scott's books, it was coke that he was using at that time, heroin was not in the picture. As far as I know, Scott didn't do heroin after 2003. Coke, booze, and pills were what lead to his downfall and death.

Howard doesn't get the diva stuff. Ha, he has the hallways cleared out for him. He is a million times worse now than Axl and Scott ever were. Look at how he treated Scott the engineer when his wife had cancer. It was disgusting.

The Megadeth line; "You take a mortal man and put him in control watch him become a god watch people's heads a-roll". Take a guy or girl that can sing a bit put behind the mic, and watch them become a jerk real quick and fame with it's substance abuse only excerbates the problem. You can't fix anyone unless they want to fix themselves.

Saw VR twice, I got to shake there hands except Scott after a New Year's Eve show in Sayreville nj. Scott came off stage and was wrapped in a huge blanket and didn't look at the fans on the side by there dressing room path. Duff Matt and Dave were the coolest, slash seemed pissy and not into it either

Once the eccentric behavior set in with Scott W. , they should have written it into his contract to drug test for every performance and twice during the week when not performing. Duff, Slash and Kushner made huge sacrifices for Scott, and he took a hot steaming shit on his bandmates anyways. I don't blame them for firing Scott. It's too bad Scott croaked while on tour as he was desperately trying to salvage his career. Scott was excellent while in STP, Just goes to show ya drugs will destroy your finances and career. Needless to say Matt S. would have stomped Scott's ass. RIP Scott

Scott weiland had melodic talent. But not david Bowie McCartney or Bob Dylan’s talent. And he thought he was on those guys level. David Bowie could dictate everything because he wrote every piece of the song and he treated his employees with respect. Scott’s solo stuff suffers from horrible backing musicianship. He needed slash and deleos around him . McCartney can just hire studio guys because he writes every piece of the music. Scott’s mistake was expecting things he didn’t earn. Very talented melody writer though

Why did they hire him? Gee, this guy is a huge mess of a time bomb that goes off at the wrong time all the time: You’re hired!
@edwardgomez5616 Жыл бұрын
Weiland was turning into the way Axl used to be. The only difference is that Axl didn't really use drugs, nor need them to be like that. Axl was a male diva, who wanted to be in control, because he thought as headman he was in control of things, but looked at what happened to early guns. Guns would eventually split up. Weiland on the other hand, he was in his own world, thinking he was a god,, all do to the drugs. Axl was young and dumb, but got humbled and learned. Weiland was driven by drugs and ego, due to drugs. Axl is still alive, but Weiland isn't. I hate that Weiland didn't learn, but 😊 as hell that Axl did.
