Wow it's refreshing to hear non Muslim women actually have personal experiences with the head covering. It was part of all cultures and a covered head be it men or women is seen as more noble and dignified than a head that is not covered. Being a "prophet" does not make a person "perfect". Look at "prophet" Muhammad for instance. He was literally the furthest from perfect any person could ever possibly be. The only perfect person to have ever lived was the Lord God Jesus.

Subhanallah how the hijab works like ringing alarm for the woman who took it off or not putting on it properly for other people to ask about her and what happened to her or how she is feeling now, how hijab made from an ordinary female to be an interest for both Muslims and non Muslims on the same basis to be noticed for the smallest Change in her hijab or fashion style....... If women jut got to know that, they will realise how much they miss from interest they deserve from other people.

You could wear a hat (they have hippy style hats that cover your whole head), hoodie (there are short sleeve shirts or vests w/ them), wear your hair back like in buns, etc. like they did all the time in the old days to reduce sexual attention. Wear super wide headbands, hair kerchiefs, cancer caps etc. Not wear makeup etc. Lots of options😊 to reduce attention from men. But they probably just had intense reaction because they hadn't seen you without it and maybe some were trying to help you feel encouraged to be yourself and free but it obviously backfired lol

You know, it is very difficult to know whether a genuine advice is being accepted as it is, or it is being treated as a judgement. You can not tell it until you know a person in more details. However, if we are muslims then we have to be willing to help by any means so as to make the life of each other a bit easier, something that is within the confines clarified by God. "...religion is an ease". So, let us make His book a judge between what is good and what is bad for us. If i am not mistaken, there is a verse in the Quran saying "...they ask you: is not it hot to cover? Say, the hellfire is more hotter...".
