Why Shock Travel Is Important

Very well explained!! I’m actually going through my rear end now trying to see if I can get a larger shock back there. I felt that was my only limiting factor. Turns out my springs are. With my current RK 3.5” springs I can only get 11” of travel before they unseat. My shocks are right at 11” of travel. So unless I change springs I can’t get a bigger shock which is disappointing, but at least I know where the limits are.

Definitely a good thing to know where your limits are. Depending on your tire size, 4.5" RK springs paired with a 12-12.5" stroke shock could net you a decent amount of travel. The other option is to do custom shock mounts to get a longer shock in there. Just make sure your brake lines, locker lines, etc are all within their limits so you arent stretching those out with the additional travel.

Omg that's for this video. I have this exact problem. I have about 2 to 3 inches of up travel

For slow crawling 3-4" of up travel is ok. We would probably recommend a shorter shock for you

yeah lets talk about this. i just found out my last trip out i yanked the shaft right out of front shock Teraflex 2.5 lift w/9550 VSS shocks. maybe they sent the wrong shocks?

Yikes!! Yes, its possible your shock was too short
