I think it's less a "deep-seeded need" to read the book as it is enthusiasm for an alternative to what we've been getting for the past 10 years or so. And I would argue that "Yaira was in Isom#1", "She has some kind of ice powers", and "She can fly" are far better reasons to try out a new book than "buy this so that we can own the haters". There are mainstream comic creators who have given way less when it comes to reasons for reading a new book. I did buy Isom #1 when the main campaign sort of settled down. It was ok. Not fantastic. Not terrible. However, most of my favorites from the Big Two are just sort of shells of what they used to be. This - at the very least - has made me curious about alternatives. I don't know if July's followers are cultists. Maybe they are. Maybe they aren't. I'll say this though; when companies stop giving some of their customers what they want, they'll find it some place else. There's obviously enough of a draw to the rippaverse to make it self-sustaining. Any fool can look up a business to see if it's cash-flow positive. Rippaverse is cash-flow positive. As for the draw "not being the writers" and "not being the art", you may be right. But I'm not sure how fair it is to use the same rubric of what's "good" for a fledgling company as we would for well-established companies. I guess we'll all just have to see what this turns into, if anything.

That’s why I’m looking at as many different indie comic book creators as I can. Eric might be an alternative to the big 2, but I think he’s a long way from being the best indie choice out there.
@saintbinkley49887 ай бұрын
Oh, no argument there. But I’d assert that it’s a win if others follow suit. The more indie creators who are bolstered by a successful campaign, the more choices we’ll get, the higher the probability of at least ONE of those indie creators being incredible. But ANY new brand will take time to find its feet. Rippaverse is no different. It hasn’t been around that long, which is why I’ll probably just hang back and see how it goes for now. For your money, who’s been the best indie comics creator so far?

The simple answer is we're intrigued with what's being built. It doesn't even need to catch the world on fire. Even if it's just the average of the greatness comics had in the past, it's better than the best of what's currently being pushed by Marvel/DC. Promotion and output of character based stories with conflicts. People aren't that complicated. Which is a thing comicsgate is struggling to understand. All they need to do is promote and deliver instead of wasting time dumping on others. Doesn't matter if EVERYONE loves it, or hates it. None of it will be perfect, but someone like it. All you can do is count on those people who do like it and get better over time.

So that creates some suspense and expectations about her backstory and what her comic will be about. Maybe stick to going after Disney.

... you... Realize the rippaverse comics are outselling mainstream comics? So... Could you say that no one really cares about even batman and superman anymore? Which could be true with the sales numbers. And the amount of supporters and non supporters of the rippaverse being interested in yaira... Which eclipsed the reception for alphacore by the industry veteran chuck Dixon? ... Or do you really want to say that you don't like seeing them succeed? Which is fine. You are entitled to your opinion. Edit: for the record, I am biased in favor of the rippaverse and the creative talent there. However, I do realize the part of the fun is tearing into something that you don't particularly like for whatever reason. Ideally, people are complaining because they want a better product and experience. Sometimes... Often times... People will argue in bad faith. I see it from the KZbinrs I enjoy watching everyday. I am looking forward to taking a magnifying glass to yaira. I went easy on alphacore, much to my own regret. I let my bias go easy on them (even if it may help my concern be heard more willingly). Yaira? I am looking forward to it. I want to see if it can stand in he arena and make its presence felt. ... What... Other comics can you say that about? No one cares? I get it. I do. You are trying to tell us that you don't care. Don't speak for the rest of us. Edit again: watch your own video. You seem to know that there IS hype and excited fans but you just don't agree. Which makes your title disingenuous, and the arguments you take rooted in bad faith, even if points are valid. The rippaverse story telling is garbage. I make no secret about it. I realize people don't like hearing that or accepting it. That's fine. The ego is there to protect you too. I get it. Yaira better be a coherent and compelling story or I will raise a storm to Jen and sylv soska. I don't give af. I don't need to take cowardly positions. I can just be honest about what I don't like or do like. Because I am not afraid of trying to spin a narrative to satisfy my own ego. [Wrong wording. "Not afraid of not tryin to spin" would make sense.] Think about what you're saying. It's fine not to like something. But are you hiding how you really feel to twist your argument into something else? If you think the rippaverse stories suck... I whole heartedly agree. But, again, please, don't try to speak for the rest of us. Thank you.
