I'm working on my own super powered universe that is basically a revival and retooling of an old idea from when I was a kid. It's basically like if you took the world of Heroes or X-Men but gave it a power system similar to Nen from Hunter x Hunter.

There are 3 levels of collectors - 1 the reader who reads the comic book then tosses it in the corner and lets it collect dust. 2 the collector/reader who reads then comic book then puts it in the bag and board to collect and keep nice. 3 the collector who doesn't read the comic book and just lets em sit in the bag and board for the cover art.

Great point. I forget that Superman started leaping tall buildings in a single bound at first. Am I correct in saying that DC got the idea for Superman to fly from the Max Fleischer Superman cartoons?

@@oliverortiz5226 No. Actually it was in a British magazine dated August 5th, 1939. Triumph Magazine. An artist drew him flying high above the earth. In the comics it wasn’t until Superman issue 30 that he says he can fly.

I think your criticism of Eric's work was way better than your criticism of him here like this because this criticism ignores the primary issue with Eric. Not that he's seemingly illiterate if you look at his Isom comics, but the reason why. I don't know if I can call him a grifter, but he's as close to one as they get. You see, Eric is a political commentator at the end of the day. He goes on his channel and he cultivates a fanbase talking about libertarianism and all that. And that's fine. I enjoy political streamers like Destiny and Vaush myself. But Eric's whole shtick is that he's part of that whole anti-woke grift machine. That whole "Woke Feminists have taken over Marvel/DC and are intentionally destroying comics in order to push their Radical Trans Agenda" thing. ComicsGate is built off that, TheQuartering's entire career is this entirely, every channel screaming about Woke Disney and Woke Snow White and Woke Star Wars and all that have made an industry off that, and Eric July is one of them. Perhaps one of their most prominent members. And so, with a dedicated fanbase of people who like him because he's an anarcho capitalist who hates the presence of queer people in their X-Men comics, Eric July went for the easiest cash grab of all time. Make a comic book universe, market it as "anti-woke", and sell it to people who think wokeness is a literal corrosive force to Western civilization. Look at his marketing. When he announced the Rippaverse, he didn't talk about the characters or setting or any of that. He talked about how Marvel and DC "hate their customers" (somehow for some reason) and he was gonna have a comic without "wokeness". He literally went on Fox to talk about how Marvel/DC are pushing a "radical woke agenda" and he was going to fight back against it with his own anti-woke comic. Not to talk about his own work, but to talk about how his work isn't Marvel/DC (the two most popular comic book brands ever creating some of the most beloved superheroes, and most beloved characters, in all of literary history). His whole thing was how Marvel and DC were woke garbage and he was going to singlehandedly revitalize the industry. You said all Eric cared about was money, but that's not true. He had a narrative to push. The Rippaverse was created to push Eric's political agenda, or at least to sell to people that followed Eric's political agenda. That's it. No love of comics or superheroes. No desire to put forward any authentic creative expression. None of it. Just to make money "owning the libs". Well, it's no surprise that Isom reads like it was written by a toddler with a crayon stuck up his nose. Because Eric July, in all the leadup to this, forgot to learn how to actually write. Do people attack him because they hate him? Sure. But they hate him because he's an abrasive, creatively bankrupt illiterate pushing an agenda to sell his bottom tier comics. He should thank his lucky stars writers like Chuck Dixon and the Soska Sisters came on Alphacore and Yaira to bail him out. Because eventually, even his own fans are going to stop buying his books.
@angryretailbanker5103
@angryretailbanker5103 21 күн бұрын
I've noticed that those reviewers who criticize Eric's work give substantive critiques about the writing, the dialogue, the art and all that. Conversely, the reviewers who give his work glowing adoration will talk about how the paper is glossy, the lettering is of professional quality, and the book is, you know, it's just really good, you guys, and you should check it out. Also, this video is the first I've ever heard of you and you've just earned yourself a new subscriber. Edit: Wish I saw all the "M-She-U" videos BEFORE I wrote that. Ugh, really man? You clearly know writing and you clearly recognize Eric's biggest weakness is his obsession with that anti-woke garbage. Still, this video shows that, unlike Eric, you actually know writing. I'll definitely be looking into your books.

First of all, it’s a bit debatable about whether or not my characters are superheroes, even though they’re heroic and have superpowers. However, it is worth mentioning that my female characters outnumber my male protagonist, and that he’s the only human surrounded by a large plethora of alien species, kinda’ like the plot of a television series called Farscape. Secondly, my setting is essentially space opera, much like Star Wars or Guardians of the Galaxy. However, I also love the retro futuristic space pirate aesthetic of Treasure Planet. Does that help anything?
