After 10 years in the Philippines, I moved out to Thailand. Special the Covid politic got me out, the way they handled it. Much more culture in Thailand, better food, easy to travel. In the Philippines, to live there, with this local politicians their behavior, the corruption, no working justice. Philippines are ok for holiday, that’s it

Personally I think Maam Joe summed it up best. Both countries are good vacation choices, but for the purpose of retirement, the communication and diversity issues cannot be underestimated, especially for English-speaking expats.

Thailand and Philippines both are unique. Visited both destinations many times over the years. I personally believe that retirement is better in Thailand as they offer a very high level of Healthcare and better infrastructure overall. For vacation, Def Ph as there's a whole plethora of places to see and explore

Vacation. I choose Thailand for the food. Both have beautiful sites to see. Both have women to party with. And English isn't a problem at all in tourist areas.

Very nice ladies again, Philippines has English as second language, the people are friendly, though both countries would have pros and cons like anywhere does. Another lovely day in Bicol, always nice to see the area and listen to the Locals thoughts on different subjects. Both countries have a lot of pros and cons. Two big pros that Thailand over the Philippines is the infrastructure in Thailand is way ahead of that of the Philippines. You're not having your power going out on you a few times a day. Another is safety. Thailand is a little safer for foreigners. On the flip side, the Philippine people are more friendly. English is their second language and the women more old fashion when it comes to marriage as far as staying home, taking care and running to house and being very supported and loyal to their husbands.

Here is an honest advice as a Filipino: If you wanted to have fun, go to Thailand. In the Philippines, you cannot easily pick up women on the streets here. We are way more conservative than Thailand. The younger generation of Filipina nowadays are becoming more serious and career-focused.

The common answer to this question is: the people are very friendly, English is widely spoken, and the visas are very accommodating to expats with a low income. For some the Christian culture is a benefit. I have lived in Thailand for 7 years. I love it here but I can see how the Philippines would be an easier destination for some westerners.

I would choose Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia OVER the Philippines because I love their culture, tradition, local music, amazing local food, city nightlife, beautiful women, friendly local people and high level of healthcare and better infrastructure overall. In my opinion, The Philippines are ok country and it's my last choice to travel.

It was nice to see an English teacher actually answer in English 🤣 "The Filipino people are open minded and diverse," yet you hear the statement "This is how we do it here, you don't like it, leave," very much the opposite of open minded and diverse. NO, the Philippines does NOT offer more work for foreigners because foreigners aren't allowed to work in the Philippines, they also aren't allowed to be the majority holder in a business, it has to be 60/40 Filipino owned, meaning the foreigner can be kicked out of their own business. Just saying "It's more fun in the Philippines," is meaningless without saying WHAT makes it more fun. Food is subjective, what Filipino's think is good others may not, if someone goes there expecting good food and end up not liking it, it'll leave a sour taste in their mouths on the Philippines. Yes, Philippines is better at English, they were ranked #20 in the WORLD for proficiency last year while Thailand was only ranked 101, Malaysia was ranked at 25 and Singapore is ranked #2 in the WORLD, and #1 in Asia. However, the beaches isn't something to brag about, a scientific study released by The Ocean Cleanup in the journal Science Advances has identified Pasig River and 18 other Philippine rivers among the top 50 most polluting rivers in the world. These rivers in the Philippines, the study added, represent more than a quarter of rivers worldwide that are responsible for 80 percent of ocean plastic pollution. What good are beaches if you can't enjoy them. "They give the best customer service," while they sit there on their phones ignoring the customer. Regardless of where in the world you choose to go, you should do your homework and research about the country. You should go with an open mind and be willing to take in the culture and people and leave your attitude and ego back home. Every where in the world has its good and bad, you just have to decide if you can tolerate the bad to enjoy the good. I think the biggest draw for foreigners to the Philippines is the very generous Visa program, it is cheaper and gives a longer time. Bali. Vietnam Japan Thailand way more popular just look at the airport cues at check-in counters . Philippines easy goin very friendly just stay out of Mindanao far south

I haven't been to thailand as of yet , I chose my filipina In the manila rosario area , It appears to me that city where you do the interviews. They're really not cool with blacks But metro manila And the Surrounding provinces work better for me than a Naga City.

It’s not just about money and cost of living. Retirees are also concerned about quality of life, culture, nature, people, and the adventure of travel. It may also be that the current divisive American culture and politics makes staying in the States less appealing for those of us that remember better times.

Hahaha. The girlfriends they are paying are working girls. The Philippines has them too. 😂😂 As a nonjudgmental note, sometimes they make the best girlfriends. The boss is always right 😅😂

Looking at the number of tourists and expats going to Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia it shows PH is not very popular. Filipinas are the reason Westerners move to PH. Some for scuba diving, but that's a tiny number. Number of expats in PH has fallen from 177k in 2010 to 78k in 2020. PH does indeed have great beaches. Problem is the trash and loose dogs. That's why tourists stay away. 8 million tourists to PH in 2019. 40 million to Thailand, 26 million to Malaysia, 16 million Indonesia. It's true PH has friendly people and English is popular, but that's true in these other countries too. English is common in tourist areas. The numbers tell the story. Singapore cleaned up it's country as part of changing and it boomed. Too bad PH doesn't.

PH is not the ideal country for foreigners to settle foreigners in PH can't even own small portions of lands & have very limited rights foreigners can obtain PH citizenship if born & raised in PH like the prominent Spanish Ayala family which is not the case of foreign expat newcomers PH is heaven on earth for rich Filipinos only

Disagree with the girl in the green shirt. The food in the Philippines is the worst in Asia. There are Thai restraunts all over Western countries, but you would have to travel days to find a Filipino restraunt.
