I love the signing for one two reasons. McDaniels actually has experience as a successful play-caller/coordinator on championship teams. That makes Vrabel’s job way easier, because he can focus his attention elsewhere. Also, McDaniels’ familiarity with ownership makes it easy for him to step into the position (rather than an outsider) and just do what he has to do. I feel like it just fast-tracks the development of Maye and, ultimately, the turnaround of the team

Nailed it Zo, Josh is the most qualified and can adapt to anything. Best set up for Maye or Bazooka Joe. Felger and Mazz are grouches on this. The structure is put in place now and we can move forward from here.

The multiple failed HC stints also makes this a good hire. He's a great OC, but a bad HC. Which means that even when he finds success here again in NE with Maye, teams won't want to instantly hire him away from the Patriots again. Which will provide some consistency with Maye, etc.

The problem with this is not so much the hire, but the REASONS behind the hire... someone who is already being paid by someone else, someone they know, someone from the god awful bill tree once they left the patriots and Tom Brady... People are mad because we all want to turn on the tv and hear the announcers saying what a sharp forward thinking young OC, but instead they take the half measure yet again and take a guy no one wants...we literally just saw this movie LAST YEAR lol

I hope you're right. For me it feels like they're trying to recapture former glory, and please don't misunderstand....I so hope I'm wrong. But I didn't want them to start bringing in former players and coaches to try to bring back "the patriot way" and blah blah. That era as gone. We are a totally new, totally different team. This isn't Tom brady making everyone better....no name wrs all of a sudden being studs. So all I ask is josh, please don't expect that. Put talent around this kid. Get him a true #1 wr. I love Kendrick Bourne and demario douglas.....they're not 1s. They're 3rd options AT BEST. Get Tee, tyreek, whoever. Get a legit 1. And please address the OL in the draft and trade picks if you gotta to make trades for OL or whatever you gotta do. It’s good to hear the Boston media for the most part seeing the positives in Josh instead of harping on looking for the next shiny thing even building team and not about fitting the talent but finding the talent that fits like I’ve always said smart capable hard working players that’s team ball guys that in spite of the massive pay checks still want it. Refreshing to hear that coaching men like men is coming back instead of you have to change your style to accommodate child like behavior.DO YOUR JOB. Redundant for a reason.

I don't think they could afford to experiment with the OC. They needed the safe, sure thing at both head coach and OC. Hopefully the new DC will pan out but if they got the OC wrong that would be very bad for Maye's development. This might not be sexy, but it's smart.

I want to know if this was vrabels pick or Kraft being Kraft hiring the guy the know that happens to be cheap . Double whammy for the krafts. How about when McDaniels was in st Louis? Took a rookie of the year Sam Bradford and had the worst offense in the league. "Matt cassel went 11-5" yah that was a 16-0 stacked team with a veteran defense that had won 3 Superbowls. What happened to Jared stidam? Josh worked with him and he never got itn the field cam newton was better than says a lot. Jimmy Glass is the most overrated and over hyped QB in the last 25 years. By the time mcdaniels was calling plays for Patriots Brady was a 3 time champ and could run his own offense.

So, here's some food for thought........In my opinion, if the Krafts truly wanted to run the show and push the newly hired head coach to hireJosh McDaniels as the OC, they could have and would have done it last year with Mayo. Clearly, the Krafts and people inside the organization never wanted to lose him to Vegas in the first place. With that said, we didn't even interview Josh last season, let alone force it on Mayo. Mayo would have been the guy if they truly wanted to make the call for Josh as OC. Before the last week of the regular season there was noise that if Vrabel lands a HC gig he was bringing Josh with him as the OC......not that if he goes to New England...but simply where Vrabel lands Josh is coming with him.

The reason why Josh makes sense for Mike here is that Mike is a defensive head coach. Which means his offensive coordinator needs to be a strong, experienced presence to help his deficiency on the offensive side of the ball. He needs a offensive head coach basically. If someone like Ben Johnson got the job his office coordinator wouldn’tbe a huge deal because it’s his office. Just like Mike’s defensive coordinator position wasn’t a huge deal because it’s Mike’s defense. Ben Johnson’s defensive coordinator is going to be a important hire for him to run the defense because it’s something he hasn’t done before.

Josh if he loses against the Chiefs, the coach will be fired and he will have to start over. And Mahommes is what he is. U have to defeat them PERIOD. But the PATS? Nobody won’t expect Drake Maye to break out. NOBODY will know how McDaniels gonna do. The pressure is actually on the rest of the league to stop guys like Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye. Just look at Jayden Daniels. I say these two are the best of the best of the very near future. Lucky we got Drake. Won’t be a great QB in the draft for another 3 years minimum.
