Indian are the highest median salary earners in US and are running a lot global company like google and etc. That is why Japan and Singapore are the biggest investors in India, India potential is staggering. India just need to focus on infra, road, highways, rail to make everything happens more smoothly, cheap and fast. Making them extremely competitive globally. Singapore invests lots in many countries including India, China, US, Latin America, EU and of course Asia. Singapore has over 1T (yes, T) in FX reserves if you count its sovereign wealth funds GIC (750B, which is undeclared but estimated by EU and US SWF tracker), Temasek holdings and the central bank. Its GDP is almost 400B a year for a population of 5.7m (3 plus million citizens and another 2m foreigners).

Money coming from Singapore, Mauritius and Cayman Island belong to foreign investors and not to the local people and government. Singapore-based foreign companies are the real ones who are investing in India. Singapore doesn’t have the insight nor the money to invest in India. Most of these money are coming from China, America and Western Europe. Mauritius, which is a small island country that was discovered by the Arabs, is among the largest investor in India! So these both small countries have a similar model. Also, the Cayman Island is among the larger investor in India!

Singaporean investor Temasek’s India portfolio exposure has gone up from $9 billion in FY20 to $14 billion in FY21. In an interview, Temasek’s deputy head, India, Promeet Ghosh tells Raghavendra Kamath that the investor is optimistic about the long-term prospects in the country. Singapore was the top source of foreign direct investment (FDI) into India in the first nine months of FY21 at $15.7 billion, followed by the US at $12.82 billion with Mauritius at the third position at $3.47 billion.
