@@kelseykaye7269 That's love. Brava. While I still smoked, I cared for my mother while she died of emphysema, still smoking cigarettes herself. Yes, from smoking (heart attack).

Mom took years to quit smoking (Dad did it cold turkey). She took classes, chewed gum and even underwent hypnosis. None of it worked. She went to work in a hospital and saw the difference between a healthy lung and a smoker’s lung (perhaps cancerous). She stopped smoking that day. That was around 40 years ago… she’s 92 now.

As someone who recently quit smoking I can assure people that nicotine cravings diminish substantially over the course of three months. The first month was hard as after eating meals especially made me want to smoke. Keeping nice snacks like cashews and such to replace that craving does help. I’m almost 3 months now and have almost entirely lost my desire to smoke cigarettes. Always remember why you wanted to quit and snack regularly!

After a few days it becomes easier for me. I periodically would quit smoking but I always prefer to. 50/50 from the laxative properties it gives, to also the oral fixation [eating doesn't help with this]. Nowadays I prefer to vape mostly, notice my lungs feel perfectly normal when vaping as opposed to smoking ciggs. No doubt vaping is better, just make sure the flavoring chemicals used in the juice aren't toxic ingredients. Some of them are, which is why the buttery flavored ones can give popcorn lung, just like folks who work in microwave popcorn factories get [see the connection?]

I’ve also put a great deal of effort into my mental health lately and quitting has greatly assisted that as well. The withdrawals from having that much THC in my system have been devastating. I’m just NOW starting to feel better. But I’m glad I took my first steps. Recently decided to stop smoking weed. The impact to the lungs is a good reason but the habit of getting high to combat boredom was another issue I had. There’s so many things it can impact without someone realizing. Edit: currently 7 days sober as of writing(2/3/24). I bought some more stuff and ran out but Im planning to go as long as possible and I'm very confident I can do so. It's helps seeing all the comments saying the same scenario that I was dealing with❤️. I believe this is the right choice for me and what I want in life, it was always a battle of moderation and since I couldn’t control the temptations I’m quitting altogether. Good luck to those out there with the same goal!

I honestly love the comment section for this video and all the responses, positive and negative. Especially with cannabis. Iv been smoking pretty heavy since I stopped playing sports about 11 years ago. I’ll take breaks here and there, but somebody on this thread spoke to WHY I smoke. It’s literally to combat boredom. And at this point it was like a reflex even if I truly didn’t wanna smoke I did because of reflex and because I had time to spare. Iv always known how bad smoking is, but this video as well as you guys definitely made me quit. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever stop completely. But I wanna make it a healthier habit like drinking alcohol which I only do maybe a hand ful of times a year ( less than 4 times, don’t really like to drink) it’s only socially. But smoking just because your bored is somthing I had to stop doing it was restrictive, I do feel more anxiety, and feel a lot more like myself in socializing.

Another thing about cannabis, if you are dabbing concentrates there isn’t combustion, tho inhaling hot vapors isn’t good for you, if you have a temp reader and you go in at recommended temperatures rather than just randomly going red hot it will definitely play a roll in the way you will feel over time, another thing is most dispensaries do not want to produce the cleanest healthiest product they simply want money, most concentrates they make contains butane or propane to get the most possible outcome while adding unatural terpenes for taste, while with solventless concentrates that aren’t very common and quite expensive at dispensaries are completely natural processes including water, ice, heat and pressure are much better for you, I would dab BHO on red hot quartz which means 800°+ and it’s absolutely terrible for you, definitely could feel pains in my chest until I studies more into it

I grew up in second hand smoke. Not only that but my parents would allow us to have cigarettes if we rolled so many cigarettes for them. In other words we were given 1 cigarette per every 20 we would roll for them. Over half of my siblings went on to become heavy smokers, developing COPD early in life. This is where I say “there but the grace of God go I.” Watching an autopsy of smoker’s lungs in the sixth grade clinched it for me and I never smoked again. Unfortunately the damage was already done. I now have decreased pulmonary function and exercise induced asthma. I loved to run, but could never become great because of my compromised respiratory status. I finally had to give it up because the albuterol inhaler I would use to breathe would cause increased heart rate making it even more difficult to breathe. I love to garden but pushing wheelbarrows of mulch and carrying heavy things makes me wheeze. Do I wish I had never smoked, yes. Do I wish my parents did not subject my young developing lungs to second hand smoke, yes. When I see people smoking nowadays when everyone knows the health risks it makes me cringe. Why would anyone pay a billion dollar industry to kill them?

I never smoked but my parents did, and I have exercise induced asthma too. The thing that really helped with my lung function was stationary biking! I got a peloton a few years ago and I definitely can exercise a lot harder without having severe asthma symptoms, I even do a bit of running on a treadmill now. I still have to abstain when it’s too hot or if we’re dealing with wildfires or anything but I can do a 30 min bike ride without collapsing now.

That was most likely from shitty cannabis with mold, bugs, or pesticides. There's a peer reviewed study showing that cannabis causes no harm to your lungs compared to tobacco smoke. The creators of this video seem to be ignorant about this study. (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1277837/) Tobacco contains 25 naturally occurring nitrosamines which are carcinogenic. Cannabis contains no carcinogens and actually the cannabinoids in cannabis fight cancer. The study showed that tobacco weakens the lungs immune system and increases risk of cancer while cannabis has the opposite effect and acts as a protectant. The only carcinogens come from burnt plant matter and due to it being a small amount of plant matter it's not as harmful as believed. As a retired Respiratory Therapist, I agree whole heartedly with you! Inhaling ANYTHING other than the purest air is bad for our lungs, and to pretend otherwise is to volunteer as a lab rat so that the bad effects can be discovered decades later. In fact, even pure air isn't that great for our lungs, because of the oxidizing effects of the oxygen on our tissues, but our lungs have antioxidants to minimize that. When a person gets older, lungs naturally become less flexible, respiratory muscles become weaker, and decreased production of antioxidants leads to greater damage done by the oxygen we need to live. It's NOT a good idea to add more damage on top of what father time already loads on our bodies!

Breathing feels so much easier and I'm glad I don't have a constant dry cough anymore. Not as good as quitting, of course, but I'm glad this worked as a much less damaging alternative.

The title is common sense. Inhaling anything that burns is toxic. I always laughed when people said smoking weed is ok because it’s healthy?? If you smoke the fumes from burnt spinach kale or broccoli or anything else healthy, it becomes unhealthy. My Jamaican grandma gave me bush Marijuana tea when I was young, they boil it or use the oil for it for all of the cancer fighting and brain function benefits. Smoking is one of the stupidest thing ever to do for low quality of life and health.

But in some countries it's socially acceptable and you should tolerate others smoking, it's actually unacceptable if you 'read them the lesson' not to smoke even though you are doing it for your own health which you should have right over...I was in Macedonia for some time and literally anyone smokes anywhere, anytime, any age. Like you literally are in people their smoke during any activity. You are in the bus, the bus driver smokes, you are eating out the people next to you smoke. People literally standing there with a baby smoking. They don't give a fuck. I really don't get how such countries can be healthy.

@@nicochan1537 Tobacco is a means of control. Of course those countries made it socially acceptable. They only care that the slaves are compliant. I'm not the compliant-type, and I will look down on someone who smokes as someone lacking O2, poisoned by mutagens and carcinogens, sluggish, ineffective and just generally lesser. I grew up smoking with my cousins, and I smoked for almost 20 years. Also smoked a LOT of weed for most of that time. When I hit my 30s, I felt like my body had enough of me smoking and if I continued to smoke for another 10 years, I would start to really see harm. I used vaping to quit smoking and while that was effective, I could feel there was something not great about vaping. I finally quit vaping during the pandemic (also haven't touched weed in years), and I feel like my lungs started to feel "clean" a couple years after I quit vaping.

I quit smoking tobacco, 19yrs ago & I'm glad I did. A dear friend of mine, just had surgery back in May. She had oral cancer. She survived the procedure, but it will take 6 to 9 months to heal. I lost a co-worker, who was also a friend, to lung cancer. Most of my friends, used to smoke, but have since quit. Post smoking, I still suffered 2 strokes. The first one in 2009, the 2nd in the new year of 2018. I'm a survivor of both, obviously. It could've been much worse, if I continued to smoke. I quit & never looked back.

Smoking weed is still much better than smoking cigarettes: nonaddictive (physically), better experience, no cancer risk, etc. Of course, smoke still contains a lot of nasty things that don't belong in your body. If you feel like it's too much, consider using an herbal vaporizer or consuming edibles. Cannabis vapor, for example, is almost the inverse of cannabis smoke: the smoke is about 5% THC and 95% toxic byproducts while the vapor is 95% THC and 5% toxic byproducts, making it much, much healthier. Both options, IMO, are superior to smoking.

I smoked both weed and tobacco basically all day every day for ten years. I gotta say, i like breathing! Everything smells much stronger too. And my cooking (which already tasted good) is simply out of this world lol. Exercise is awesome now too, i catch my breath WAY more quickly. Thanks for helping me to achieve freedom from depending on these coping mechanisms 🙏 i quit alcohol and caffeine too- now for refined sugars and processed foods. This will be the hard part since dang near 80% of all food in U.S. groceries is processed and full of refined sugars.
