Heavy smoker for about 15 years here. Tried vaping to quit during covid times, at first it was working, but I ended up vaping non stop. Then, I was consuming both for a short period of time. One day I decided that the less garbage I put in my lungs, the better, and threw everything. First weeks was tough, after a month I had no need to smoke or vape. Many months later my brain tricked me into smoking one, and I ended up smoking for a week, and finally I realized that I can no longer even taste a cig. It is a constant war against the addicted brain, but it gets easier as you win every single battle saying No. Hopefully someone reads this and decide to do the same and it works for him/her. Every single time, no matter what tricky thing your brain says, the answer is No. Good luck.

I will say, I was a smoker for 20+ years of my life. I went to vaping, and quit smoking. It took a bit, but I was completely off of cigarettes. Then it came time to wean off of vaping, which I found hitting much more than cigarettes at the time. So I started to cut my nic juice with non nic juice, and then was on purely non nic juice after a few months. I really liked the motion of smoking, which is why it worked for me. I started smoking cigarettes when I was 12. During my 20 years of smoking cigarettes, I tried many times to quit using patches, gum, pills and even failed attempts at vaping. I'd usually quit for a week or two, a month or 2, the longest was a year and a half. By the time I was 32 I was smoking 2 packs a day. It was that year that I decided to go 100% into vaping. I basically turned it into a hobby, making my own coils, making my own juice, etc. This time I was never smoking cigarettes again. Since I was making my juice I had absolute control over the nicotine levels. I slowly decreased the amount of nicotine until I was vaping zero nic. I was completely off nicotine after about 4 years of vaping and I quit in 2019. Never even had the slightest craving since. The way I look at it, vaping saved my life.

That's how I quit as well. From smoking to vaping to further and further reducing nicotine content, until I vaped without nicotine for a few weeks. Hardest part was getting rid of the behavioural part of vaping. For instance, I vaped everywhere I could non-stop (like while driving or gaming). Made it just a little bit more inconvenient for myself to access my vape and it worked wonder, although it felt weird at the first couple of days. You will notice major improvements regarding breathing and mucus even after quitting vaping.

In 2010, age 65, I developed lung cancer after 50 years of smoking. I put the cigarettes down and never smoked again. But only a smoker can understand what I’m about to say. When I quit, it was like I lost my best friend. I had lost my husband in 2003 and was very lonely. I craved a cigarette constantly. At trigger times: after eating, talking on the phone, driving. I became very depressed and really craved my old friend nicotine. I discovered vaping online. They had nicotine but not the carcinogens in cigarettes. I ordered them and they were a lifesaver. I came out of my depression, was really happy. I know if I hadn’t started vaping I would have went back to cigarettes. I feel at my age it’s the lesser of 2 evils. I always laughingly say, “I’ve given up sex, gave up alcohol and never did drugs.” If the vaping makes me happy, at my age I deserve it. I feel if I had went back to cigarettes I’d be dead. I definitely think our children should not be allowed to purchase them. I only wish someone had prevented me from buying cigarettes at age 15.

My husband had been smoking for over 20ish years and had tried to quit many times (patches, prescription medications, etc) and was a constant struggle. At work at one point I met a guy who was in the process of quitting smoking by using vaping. He switched to vaping since you can modify your nicotine intake, and once he reaches 0 he could stop. Took him less than a year (6 months I think actually) and he quit. Worked with him for a few years and he never went back. Told my husband, so he made the switch and did the same. No, vaping isn't the best thing in the world and should be avoided, but could be an essential step to quitting for those who truly want to quit considering they can lower the nicotine levels over time.

@@DSCO54321 You need to start higher than you think, the main issue is that people highly underestimate their total nicotine consumption with cigarettes, then switch to vaping e liquid with not enough nicotine, and thus end up going back to smoking. 1 pack of cigs contains around 20mg of nicotine. So I would recommend people start with like 12-16mg per ml liquid, at least. It is important to try to get yourself addicted to vaping, so it overpowers your addiction to cigarettes to start off. I personally started with 20mg per ml nicotine liquid. (Some cigarette smokers smoke upwards of 2 or even 3 packs a day, so they need to start even higher, likely customizing their own nicotine content or buying in bulk from suppliers)

It also is on the shop floor rather than hidden away like tobacco. This is wrong imo. It also stinks. People who vape think it’s ok to do it among non smokers which really annoys me. I think the biggest difference between vaping and smoking is the frequency which will probably make a big difference in health outcomes for long-term vape users. Where smoking is often more ritualistic leading to a set number of cigarettes smoked per day, most vape users will be using it constantly throughout the day since it's generally more accessible indoors and comes with less social stigma.

I'd love to see a wide study on people's vaping habits. I've been vaping for years and personally, it really varies quite a lot, but generally I tend not to have 'sessions.' It just doesn't make sense, because unlike a cig, a vape isn't a one-time item, 'done' after one use. I'm a 2-3 toots at a time guy. I use a high-volume vape with very low nicotine. I'm pretty satisfied by it. And honestly, it's hard to just go at it for more than a couple of minutes because my mouth gets too dry and the flavor is so rich. Typically, I would say I pick it up every 45 minutes to an hour for a handful of 2-3 toot spurts. There was a time when I was using disposable vapes in the car. My usual setup requires you to incrementally drip juice into it (which you can easily spill and make a terrible sticky and gooey mess with,) makes huge clouds of vapor that block my vision, is a heavy chunk of metal, and requires a certain grip/button press to use. Not the safest while driving. Something small I could pick up for a little hit would be nice in the car, I thought. Problem is, I found myself just going ham on em while driving. Because my main focus is on the road, and it's so easy to hit with no prep, I don't notice that I'm basically hitting it constantly. I would hit it like Popeye, parked on one side of my mouth with my hands on the wheel, puffin away. Had to put a stop to that. Point is, I can see there being a lot of factors worth exploring, that might yield some seriously important insights.
@HCkev Жыл бұрын
@@differentbutsimilar7893very good points. Obviously, when someone light up a cigarette, they're smoking the whole thing, they're not lighting it up only for a couple toots and then wasting the rest of it. So in way, one may not use a cigarette as often but will smoke more at once, while with a vape, you can pretty much use it whenever you want, but you're not forced to use it constantly for the next 5-10 minutes. It's however, a lot easier to vape in places where it's not allowed compared to cigarette, because vaping typically don't smell nearly as much as cigarette, most people use flavored liquids so the smell is much les obnoxious, worst case it can be mistaken for a perfume, essential oils etc.. If you smoke a cigarette in a public toilet stall, everybody around will know you're doing it. Not so with a vape. You can also hide your vape in your jacket while you take a toot and most likely people around won't notice. Can't really do that with cigarette as you'll likely light up your clothes. On the other hand, the fact that you don't have to smoke the whole vape liquid bottle at once might in some case reduce the overall usage. Typically, it's a matter of nicotine addiction. You feel you need it, so you either smoke or vape. With cigarette, again, you need to smoke the whole thing or you're otherwise wasting it. While you with vape, just one or two toot might be enough satisfy the addiction and then you may not use it for the next hour or so. You might also become less addicted because you're not forced to take so much at once. Overall, the total usage is probably similar in a day, but with very different patterns of usage. Cigarette may be used less often but a lot more at once, while vape is used more often but very little at once.

@@HCkevI understand where your coming from completely but I know alot of cigarette smokers and people who smoke vapes (me being one of both) and in all honesty, the majority of vapers i see cant even let the vape out of their hand, just puffing every 2 minutes whereas smokers, tending to smoke more ritualistic, tend to be smoking a hell of a lot less and with the premise of thinking your going to waste the rest, I know people who sometimes have a couple puffs of a cigarette then put it out to smoke the rest later. Being a smoker of both however, I do see myself to smoke alot less with cigarettes, smoking one within 5-10 minutes then not having another for hours wheres with a vape, I cant stop. I could literally be puffing away for a solid 20 minutes without realising then just feeling horrible within my body, just feeling grungy. In conclusion I'd say smoking depends on the person, not the device the person uses and that further studies need to be done on vaping as I believe it is, if not more dangerous than cigarettes (in my opinion), within not just a short time use but possibly a long time one aswell.

I smoked for 49 yrs. By the end I was smoking 2.5 packs a day. No one that knew me thought I would ever quit. I started vaping in 2006 and drastically cut my smoking to 1/4-1/2 pack a day. It just wasn't doing the job to quit completely until the development of the Juul e-cigarette and salt-nic. The Juul design emulated a cigarette far better than its predecessors. The salt-nic delivered a much more satisfying hit. Within 3 weeks I had given up cigarettes completely and never gone back. I also discovered that as long as I vaped tobacco flavors, there was always a tendency to go back to the real thing. I searched for a non-tobacco flavoring that I could live with and settled on a food flavor that I ended up preferring over tobacco. For me, that was The major component for me quitting cigarettes. That was 6 yrs ago and I have no urge to go back to cigarettes and I find the them disgusting at this point. I started vaping 35 mg/ml salt-nic but am presently at 24-28 range. I started smoking when I was 13 in 1995. In 2010, I tried gums, patches, replacement therapy, anti depressants (I was already on one, still am) and I was about to go to hypnotherapy in 2013 to try and quit. A week before my appointment, I found out about vaping. Someone took me to a vape store and not only did I get taught about vaping, I learned how much more control over nicotine that I had and could step down on. I learned about (augmented by my previous experience an knowledge in electronics) resistance and the mechanism behind turning a liquid into a vapor. I learned about food grade inhalants with flavors, I understood that VG and PG really are not toxic on their own. I learned how to make my own juices, further controlling what is going into my lungs and minimizing further the possibility of injury. I canceled my appointment and visited my GP who looked me over and was happy I was quitting and was actively interested in seeing me every month or two to track my progress and gather data. He set me up with an ENT and we had imaging of my lungs every three months. Did that for 7 years. My lungs improved to their previous efficiency before I started smoking. I could "run the mile" again. Cloudy parts where my lungs were clogged with tar from the cigarettes was gone by year 6. Scoping my airways showed no more scaring and most of it, if not all was repaired. In the last 2 years, I stopped vaping as much AND stepped my nicotine down to 3g/ml. I still vape today, off and on with 0 or 3g/ml nicotine as it really is the habit of filling empty time. I don't spend monthly the same amount I did on cigarettes as well. What I gather from all this research into the lung injuries is really centered around 1) THC and Vitamin E. 2) Things that are not in good quality vaping equipment, still centered around THC. I am not a prude and I don't care if someone smokes weed. But I wish there would be a different term or classification to differentiate between vaping nicotine vs vaping THC. After 15 years of information, people discussing their experiences on various vaping forums and chat groups, I am still supportive of vaping. Harm reduction is very important. Glamorizing it was a big mistake, that was what got kids smoking cigarettes and now they are vaping nicotine. It is better, but from my experience and knowledge of what happened to my heart, nicotine in a young body is bad news. Are there people who purely vape nicotine experiencing injury or ER visits? Sure. Something is still being put into the lungs that really is not supposed to be there. People have allergic reactions or cannot tolerate some of the chemicals used in vape juice. My ex girlfriend was unable to go to a couple concerts or leave mid show because of fog machines. It is still better than cigarettes AND I really think the government should back off from it. The community made several changes to what was being used BEFORE they started regulating it. Now it just legitimizes it and allows cigarette companies to get into the market and make their own "disposables", "pods", or closed tanks and cartridges. Who knows what they are putting into those things. I won't name the company, but one of the Big Ones was caught putting high levels of nicotine and improperly displaying t ton packaging AND extra "preservatives", the same ones found in cigarettes to keep up the addiction.

The scariest revelation from all this for me was how absolutely evil and insidious a smoking addiction is. I can now see smokers making every ridiculous excuse and rationalising their "reasons" for why smoking won't get them. And it scares me that I was one of those people for many years, it also makes me sad that my big brother was one too but unfortunately his smoking led to a heart attack that ultimately ended his precious life at only 59 years old. This was the catalyst that made me quit, so without even knowing it my big brother was still being the best type of big brother and protecting me.

IMO the craziest part is that governments just allow it because there is money involved. they wont let you swim in an old sand-mine thats filled with water because sometimes they have holes that sink in and suck you down when it happens- veeery rarely. but all they could cope with was putting some off-turning pictures on cigarettes and call it a day while SOOO MANY people have died from (not just that but it contributes largely) cancer and etc. because of cigarettes, alcohol, etc. only reason they think about legalizing weed is because they have their eyes on the taxes they can put on that shit. any argument of the likes as "if we supply clean product, drug dealers and gangs will come out of business and people wont get mixed products etc." are just legitimization for their cause. like hell they care how many people have bad living conditions or die in higher age (not getting pansion, very nice for the state btw.) as long as there are enough people born to sustain the economy. the disgusting air you breath in ? ask the big asian cities. do they care? no. the lead in other toxic stuff in the water? do they care? no. recently found out there is a mention worthy amount of arsen in rice lol. thats a neuro-toxin deadly at quite low doses. cant trust shit. you think they would tell you? gotta google for that and who knows how much that hides.

How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. Wow, 3+ packs a day for more than 40 years! That's really something. I smoked from 15 to about 32, stopped for 5 years, then smoked again another 10 years to about 47. I'm 52 now. When I told my doctor I had switched to the vape he was very happy. He told me the same as we heard in this video about not knowing the long term effects, but he said even several years ago that the consensus was, whatever gets you off cigs is better than continuing as a smoker. The way I feel today as a non-smoker I think confirms that. So far I've been lucky, no issues with my lungs or heart related to smoking after about 5 years. I hope it continues, and best of luck to you as a recovered smoker.

I was a heavy smoker for decades, had terrible cardio, coughed all the time and had all the usual problems associated with nicotine addiction. I had a dental operation scheduled and I was told point blank by my dentist "You cannot smoke for six months or this procedure will most likely fail". I had no choice so I started vaping. It was the biggest single improvement to my quality of life I have ever made. I go hiking now, my clothes smell nice, I am still reliant on nicotine but vaping is more gentle and you dont get withdrawals for hours and hours. I can take a two hour train and not even think about nicotine. My cautionary information would be this: Only buy your gear from a reputable Vape Store (not Amazon and not the street) Keep your kit clean Nearly every bad outcome is linked to some kind of weird THC or drug related substance like cannabis oil. Popcorn lung is a lie. The incident it refers to involved several barrels of pure acetyl leaking into the ventilation system of a factory and literally poisoning everyone. Do not believe anti-vape propaganda. The tobacco companies pay US state governments money every year as compensation. The Master Settlement Agreement payment is calculated based on the number of smokers in the state. The moment that vaping impacted these payments, the news was flooded with anti vaping stories and horror tales about how vapes can kill. Its bs, they are just trying to scare people back to smoking so they can get their juicy free money. As a wise man once said ... anything that goes into to your lungs that is not fresh air, involves risk. Vapes no doubt involve risk. Smoking is a guaranteed disaster for your body. Do the maths.

Nearly the entire video is dedicated to the effects and risks of vaping e-juice containing Vitamin E-Acetate and THC. However, Vitamin E-Acetate containing e-juice is primarily sold from street dealers (like you mentioned) to cut down on cost. The issue is, vaporization of THC e-juices (typically known as cartridges) is quite niche compared to the overwhelming majority of people who vape standard nicotine containing juice, which does NOT contain Vitamin E-Acetate or THC. You are correct in saying that the long term effects of general vape products are unknown and therefore its wise to refrain from vaping completely, but, it doesn't take a 15 minute video to say that. This title is misleading as you are not addressing the wider spectrum of vaping, rather just a small percentage of those who vape and consume THC products.

After many years of smoking, vaping was what finally worked for me to quit. I always bought quality juice from reputable stores, and used standard devices with no crazy mods. I vaped for 3 years. The first two weeks were the toughest and I used 18mg juice to help get by that. Then stepped down to 12mg for about 6 months. Went to 6mg for a while, then 3mg for a while. Then spent nearly the last year and a half with 0mg nicotine. It was simply the hand to mouth habit. The last 6 months I got to where I barely used it, and finally I just started forgetting to take it with me anywhere, and stopped using it entirely. You must quit smoking fully if you intend to use it as cessation device. This is true with any cessation tool. It also helped that I quit with a friend. It helped that we had someone to be held accountable to. I am happy to say we are both well over 7 years since quitting smoking and both stopped vaping at about 3 years into it.

Thanks for your interesting video. I'm MD, was a heavy smoker (up to 60 p.d) in the past, and started vaping around 2006, when the first eCigarette came out in China - a friend of mine was a long distance pilot and he brought them over to Europe. Since then, I never ever touched a cigarette again. What perfectly convinced me was the fact, that after vaping for one week, I was 2 minutes faster on my usual 10 km (6.2 miles) jogging track. I'm 62 now and still do my jogging rounds - so at least in my case vaping did not do considerable harm to my lungs as opposed to what continuing smoking would have done. So at least it is recommendable for heavy smokers as a replacement. A possible downside is that you tend to vape continuously without any break. I'm quite sure that oily ingredients like THC or vitamin E are to blame for EVALI - inhaling oil products are known to cause severe atypical pneumonias, and EVALI appears to be one.
@imUnread Жыл бұрын
Correct, yeah this "EVALI" only came when they were making it hard to get our regulated juices from stores and people were resorting to black market liquids. This is why they gotta stop fuckin with our shit man and let us adults vape and have flavors if we want to. Ban vaping/disposables in gas stations (thats where most of the kids get them from) and strictly let only vape stores carry. People who work in the community are always careful to I.D. because they know how important it is to not sell to kids and screw it up for everyone. Gas stations, etc dont care at all. EVALI would have never existed because there wouldn't have been a need to buy black market products if they weren't making it difficult to get their stuff.

About 14 years ago just in a week I switched from 35years of smoking to vaping. I started with 18mg liquids, but gradually reduced it to about 4mg of nicotine per ml and stay at this level. I got used to the process of "smoking" (or vaping) and mechanics of this is much more difficult to quit than nicotine adiction itself. Anyway, in the past 14 years of vaping I saw significan improvements in breathing and sense of smell within about 3 months of switching from smoking to vaping, and then my level of comfort stayed the same. I regularly check my lungs and, thus far, they work fine - actually, much better than they did when I did smoke.

I have explored vaping nicotine to familiarize myself with nicotine as a psychiatric medication. High nicotine dependency is not the right medication for me, so I moved on (with the help of bupropion). There are just better substances for me between nootropic supplements and psychiatric prescriptions. I have a similar story with THC. I’m also pretty sure the propylene glycol in nicotine vapes began to cause contact dermatitis with my lungs, an autoimmune rejection - and vegetable glycerin juice is costly. Overall, we need to discuss nicotine dependency in the context of how most people cannot access world-class psychiatric care or a cultural environment that supports talk therapy and mental health vulnerability.

Just my opinion, of course if you've never smoked DO NOT vape! But, as an ex-smoker I started at 12! I switched to vaping over 10 years ago, I'm asthmatic so smoking was a poor peer pressure thing being young and dumb which I carried over into adulthood, I always had the dreaded smokers cough, I had almost constant chest infections and had to use three inhalers just to get by day-to-day. Since, I've switched to vaping I haven't had a single chest infection, I'm down to just one inhaler that I've been using less and less over the years since switching to vaping. The biggest problem with vaping is the "won't someone please think of the children" (insert The Simpsons meme) argument, well I started smoking at 12! TWELVE! But, according to the worlds governments, cigarettes and tobacco are still readily available, where are the campaigns to ban tobacco? What about the teen drinking epidemics? I know I drank alcohol at a young age too (15ish) why is it that vaping has been taking a battering and not the other way more harmful things? One word...M O N E Y! Where are the; Mums against Alcohol/tobacco groups? How many lives and families have been lost and ruined by alcohol, that loved one that died from cancer brought on by two packs a day for 40 years!? How many lives and families have been decimated by vaping? It's so easy for the people on the outside (non-smokers/vapers) to scoff and just about VAPE = BAD! Whilst having absolutely zero personal experience with it and all the lives they help save, look in any vape group and read the countless success stories of people being able to give up smoking even after 30-40 years of heavy smoking, and people that have cut their nicotine intake down drastically and who eventually quit vaping too, if that's not something you wish existed years ago while your grandparents were still alive then that's a sad state of affairs. Just think something like vaping could have extended their lives and not coughing up tar and other nasty things found in tobacco etc. I'm glad I live in the UK where we have taken a sensible and medically scientific approach to vaping, where vaping is promoted via the NHS and you can even buy vapes in most hospitals in the UK, I pray it stays that way. I haven't heard of a single case of this "EVALI" in the UK and the original scaremongering tactics in the US where based around lies, it wasn't anything to do with normal nicotine vaping at all, it was to do with people buying black market THC carts cut with Vit C acetate and god knows what. But the media labelled it as vaping was the cause and people believed it, of course the MSM never lie or bend the truth for a good story ever... Sorry this has been long-winded but I saw the original vaping video and I just had to comment on my experience and opinions. As I said at the start I've been vaping for a very long time and not once have I had to go to my doctor or hospital for anything related to vaping, I'm healthier now than when I was in my 20's I don't need to constantly use multiple inhalers just to breathe anymore and it's all thanks to vaping! Again, I will reiterate, vaping is only for adults who want to quit smoking 🚭 but just like a 12 year old me all the horror stories about smoking didn't stop me but tobacco isn't being attacked like vaping is and it's all down to money and taxation. If the US government had found a way to tax it properly you'd bet your last dollar there would be stores all across the states selling them. Isn't it funny the only "approved" vaping company JULL are still around? It couldn't be to do with the fact Philip Morris owns them would it? 🤦😂 Anyway, I'll leave it there and well done if you managed to read all this, have an awesome day 😁

From what i understand this is somthing about people not going after cigarettes and alcohol as hard as vaping because of lobbying? All i will say to that is what are you talking about, have you been in a coma since the 1920's? Compared to vaping, cigarettes and alcohol are hit considerably harder than vapes ever had. I would argue vaping has taken the same route cigarettes had where people tout it as a positive this, or a positive that, without any studies done to show you won't regret it 40 years down the line.

It's KZbin not an English exam 🤦 If cigarettes and alcohol are so vehemently targeted, why haven't they been banned like vaping has in the US and a few other countries like Australia etc? Why can kids still readily access tobacco and alcohol products if they are being attacked like vaping has? The answer is simple and one I've already stated and it's money! And you'll never convince me otherwise and no amount of condescending comments from you or anyone else will change that. I watched testimonials from people in court rooms in America break down and cry telling their stories on how vaping saved them and still they banned it! And you can't use kids as the deciding factor because kids before vaping and to this day still smoke and drink underage, all they have done is create a stronger black market which is where they started in the first place with the THC carts! So now kids and people in general now have to rely on sourcing their vapes/juice from unknown sources, well done America, truly the land of the free! Woohoo! There have been multiple studies done on vaping from some of the greatest science backed research facilities known to man for instance The Royal College of Physicians that deem vaping to be at least 90-95% safer, key word SAFER than smoking. Now that's not to say it's harmless of course it's not, but would you rather someone smoke themselves into an early grave or hand them something that will help them? I fail to see what your counter argument is here? (Aside from bashing grammar on KZbin comments) Do you want more people to smoke or do you want people to have alternatives? Alternatives that can and have saved lives? Because where are people that vape going to go when they are banned? Yep, back to buying tobacco products and big pharma and tobacco wins again! I'm happy to enjoy my vaping for as long as I want to and that's backed by our government and health authorities here in the UK. Vaping has been around for a long time, where are the piles of bodies through vaping? How long do we need to wait 20/30/50 years for people like you to be happy? You're more likely to die from eating today's ultra processed foods and caffeine overdoses with the spike in coffee and energy drink consumption these days than vaping. In fact a friend of mine lost her husband recently due to excessive caffeine consumption, he suffered a massive heart attack in his sleep aged 50!

all you vapers, especially those of you who have been rescued from cigarettes by vaping. I myself indulged in cigarettes for 46 years and long term smokers will understand when I say that I had reached the point of giving up on trying to quit. During this time of accepting that I would be a smoker until something, perhaps related to smoking takes me out, that would be the end of my nicotine indulgence story if not for the fact that while searching online for a canabis vaping pen that I had heard of, I found out about the fairly new world of nicotine vaping. I am now in my 16th year of nic-vaping and for the first couple of years I vaped straight lung hits until I found and preferred the mouth to lung atomizers and technique which I did for several years until I realized that since nicotine is so absorbing that mouth to nasal was giving me my nic-hit without involving my lungs. I remember really enjoying my cigarettes, I'd have one every morning with my coffee and slowly take drags, Marlboro Reds were the smoothest... But over time, they started to make me feel sick and I was always short of breath and didn't like feeling that way, so I started to ween down. I started to only smoke 3 cigarettes a day, and then I started using tar catchers like Hunter Thompson and to be honest, that really made a big difference. Then I only smoked 2 ciggies a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. Then I skipped days and noticed I felt better, but would eventually have a ciggie soon after. Then one day I went on a family trip and left my ciggies behind. On the 3rd day of no smoke, I already started to feel so healthy and life felt vibrant again! When I got back home a week later, I never lit another ciggie for 9 years now! In fact, I still have the very last cigarette I saved from that day! Evali was all about illicit THC vape cartridges. To my knowledge, regular nicotine vapes did not have this issue, and in other countries where these illicit THC cartridges weren't being sold and people were still vaping, there was no evali problem. You did mention THC vapes specifically, but nicotine vapes are often unfairly conflated when people reference evali. Not to mention, none of these studies controlled for people who also smoked cigarettes and weed or did other drugs, had underlying health conditions, etc. The CDC's NYTS study was a survey where they asked middle and high schoolers if they had vaped in the last 30 days. If their answer was yes, they were marked as "currently vaping", even if they took one hit of a vape and never touched one again. Imagine having 1 or 2 drinks a month and being labelled as "currently alcoholic" in a study about alcoholism. The more specific data about frequency of use was omitted from the first few publications, and was not emphasized when they did publish with that data. That shows that only 6.5% of high schoolers used a vape 20 out of 30 days, and 4.5% used them daily, however even more specific data is not gathered about frequency of use per day. Daily user could be someone who hits a vape one time a day. New data shows a 48% decrease since 2019 in high schoolers that vape. All that said, I don't think it's a good thing that high schoolers or middle schoolers are vaping, but it is not the massive problem it is proclaimed to be and is in fact more in line with what you'd expect from rebellious teenagers, it's actually significantly less of a problem than teenagers who smoke cigarettes or weed or drink alcohol. Vaping has been shown to be an incredibly effective tool for quitting smoking. They were shown to be at least twice as effective as alternatives like patches and gums and such. Also, a study from 2019 found that 93% of people who vape are former smokers. That is a massive amount of people switching to vaping and quitting cigarettes successfully. Only 4% were shown to vape and smoke, and 3% were shown to vape without ever having smoked before. These number are astronomically in favor of vaping being an effective tool to quit smoking, while simultaneously debunking the idea that vaping can be a gateway to smoking. As for the harms of vaping, there is no data showing that there are any significant or even minor short term or long term health effects when it comes to vaping. Obviously vaping is a very new phenomenon and there isn't much data, but when you're in the field of research and there isn't much data available, your goal is to gather that data and make a good faith analysis. So even though there isn't much or really anything pointing towards any negatives side effects from vaping, it doesn't mean that it's perfectly safe and we need to continue gathering data, especially over the long term. One study has estimated vaping to be no more than 5% as unhealthy as cigarettes, and they said the true value would likely be significantly lower than that with more data. All of this propaganda against vaping has really gotten out of hand. It is an extremely promising smoking cessation device, and imo, it should be praised for that, not run into the ground with misinformation. Yeah, our lungs are probably not meant for vaping, and it's probably not better than just not vaping, but our lungs were probably not meant for inhaling water vapor for 30 minutes in a hot shower, or in a sauna. Our organs are not meant to ingest caffeine or excess amounts of sugar. Will you take cold showers, or stop taking showers all together? Will you quit drinking coffee, or soda, or really anything other than water? There are a lot of things we do that are not optimal for our health. It's a risk-reward that we must consider. Is it fair to recommend everyone stop drinking coffee and soda? If that's how you want to live your life, then go for it. I think people should do proper research, and come to their own conclusions about what they want to put in their bodies.

I've smoked for 33 years. I've tried quitting 4 times, last time using nicotine patches and tablets. Each time I rapidly gained in weight some 5-6-10 kg and it was quite hard to get rid of them since I used no medication or dedicated diets for that. I started vaping some 4 years ago, after a solid on-line research about the subject. At that time I smoked some 20-25 cigarettes / day. It took me 2-3 months of vaping to figure out what kind of device I should use. During this time I've spend the same amount of money / month, by purchasing devices and e-liquid, as when I was smoking cigarettes. At the beginning I used factory made e-liquids with tobacco flavor and 18 mg / ml nicotine content. After a few months I learned how to prepare my own liquids so I've started to reduce the active ingredients - flavor and nicotine. In 2 months I was vaping flavorless. After that, I start reducing gradually the nicotine content, 1 mg every 2 months until I've reached to zero. It took me 3 years. This year, in March I've stopped vaping. I now only vape occasionally, at parties where a lot of people take part and there are a lot of smokers as well, but I only vape disposables (puff bar) with minty flavor and zero nicotine. During those 3 years the average sum of money, spend monthly on vaping, was what I've spend before in 1 week of smoking. Some 6-7 months after I've started vaping, my effort capacity has improved substantially. I breathed much easier when running or hard-working on something and that specific cough of smokers has completely disappeared. Also catching colds during the year reduced significantly and I have no knowledge to ever had COVID. What I consider to have been in my advantage is that I live in Europe, where the vaping market is strictly regulated from all points of view. If you are a DIY vaper, you can buy what you need from authorized shops, proof genuine products, made by authorized manufacturers. From what I know, in the UK the Public Health Authority subsidizes nation-wide programs to persuade smokers to switch to vaping, in order to help them quit smoking. In one such program, they even offered to smokers, for free, 1 million vaping disposables. Concluding, in my opinion, vaping is a good way to quit smoking without inducing to much stress on yourself.

Former smoker of 19 years, quit about a year ago because I picked up vaping. As a heavy vaper I would never recommend quitting cigarettes for vaping for reasons non smokers/vapers wouldn't even think of. There are a lot of pros, they seem to be the better option. But because of the pros like no cigarette odor or ashes left behind like the former, it's easy to vape all day, every day no matter where you are or what you're doing. Then your body gets use to the constant nic fix all the time and to make matters worse a lot of juice is higher nic than a cigarette. So unless you can avoid having your vape on you, in your hand every waking second and use it more on breaks like a cigarettes by all means... but from my knowledge most vapers I know even fall asleep holding their vapes and that is definitely a habit that's going to be worse to kick because it's so available. 😮💨

The core problem with vaping research: Like most other things, its far too political and Philip Morris and R.J. Reynolds are too involved in the research. Tobacco companies invest millions in demonizing their competition - legally, politically, and scientifically. It's difficult to get fair and honest research that is still considered "reputable". It's a lot like the climate change debate and CV19. If the outcome of your study goes against the "narrative", it's considered junk science. 50 years ago they said "Smoking is safe!", because that's what they were paid to say. The FDA is a revolving door for pharmaceutical executives.

At the same time you have people who are against recreational drugs or specifically anti-nicotine who produce research to prove those things are extremely bad for you. Another one is that there is properly done research that has found that the current universal salt recommendations are wrong. Some people need more salt in their diet than others. For those people a low salt diet is harmful. But this sort of research gets attacked and even the researchers who are finding these results in their studies indicate how nervous they are about bucking the consensus.

I smoked for 25 years and quit cold turkey 10 years ago. I decided that if I'm not going to be a smoker, I have to think like a non-smoker. One thing non-smokers don't do is sit around thinking about smoking. Every time my mind wandered to it, I would try to find something to occupy it or, if all else failed, I would drop and do sets of push ups to exhaustion or go for a jog. Exercise reduces cravings and as you build up to getting a runner's high, it will knock the craving out. I never told anyone I quit, because non-smokers don't think about not smoking either. Its all about reprogramming you mind and interrupting the addictive/habitual thought processes.

I smoked for 23 years and switched to vaping 4 years ago. I'm not kidding myself that it's necessarily "safer" - I've seen the buildup on my windows in the winter, and I'm pretty sure that ain't supposed to be in your lungs either, lol. What I do know is that we accidentally found fibromuscular dysplasia on both my carotid arteries via a brain MRI, and I had the ultrasound to confirm it two weeks after I quit smoking. They not only had the classic "string of pearls", but I could see how the interior of the arteries were all raggedy. Nine months later we checked again, and the fibromuscular dysplasia was gone and the interiors were smooth as silk. Obviously that's the result of not smoking cigarettes, but the vaping wasn't impeding their healing. And actually seeing the change inspires me to not pick up cigarettes again. Well, that and it costs $10/pack now, lol. BTW, this is after trying to quit cold turkey, via the patch and the gum. Vaping just happens to be the most successful in keeping me from cigarettes. But honestly, not even vaping is a replacement. They definitely put something extra in cigarettes to boost the effect, which makes it so much harder to quit them than just plain ole nicotine. But for now, I'm down with this form of harm reduction.

I started vaping in 2016, I think. It was just starting to become viable. I liked the taste, and pretty soon got hooked on nicotine. When my vape broke one day and I couldn't afford a replacement, I bought a pouch of tobacco. And thus I started smoking. 4 years on and I made a conscious effort to quit, so decided I'd start vaping again. All that was happening was I was vaping constantly at home, which was probably worse than my 8 roll up a day habit. I personally found nicotine patches very helpful for me. It wasn't gum, which I can't use at work, and I've already touched on vaping. I've been off cigs for about 3 months now and only occasionally want a cigarette. Pretty much when I smell it in the street. I think the main reason I found it difficult to stop was nicotine "helping" with my depression. A lot of my colleagues are in the 18-20 range and an overwhelming amount of them are vaping. I'm not sure if it's the nicotine helping with stress, or because of the taste, or to fit in, but it is concerning.

@Institute of Human Anatomy I started vaping after 30+ yrs of being a smoker. Ironically I started vaping on the 18th April 21 and on the 4th June 21 I had a massive stroke due to a massive pulmonary embolism. Well over 50% of both lungs were a massive blood clot. According to the multiple specialists I had in ICU the stroke was caused from a piece of clot shot into the brain. Before I go on I need to emphasize that being a smoker wasn't the cause of the embolism nor the stroke though it quite possibly could have contributed and sure as heck didn't help. I was diagnosed with Factor V Leiden. What I can state with certainty is that the specialists had told me that if I hadn't ceased smoking then the likelihood of my having survived the stroke was minimal as, due to the embolism my SpO2 was so dangerously low that if I was still smoking the carbon monoxide would've surely shut down vital organs. 2 years on and I can tell you, I am still vaping and tho I suffer from sleep apnea with no added oxygen to my cpap therapy, my average SpO2 is 95-69% and the normal SpO2 for a healthy person is 96-99%. How do I know my own SpO2, I wear an oximeter and have confirmed and calibrated it with multiple sleep studies and less than a week ago with a hospital monitoring system when I was in for a hernia operation. I wear a Wellue O2 ring and honestly it's a game changer. As a side note, after my massive stroke I have suffered no ill effects which is a god send considering the severity of the stroke. Now on a lighter note, I completely disapprove with the title of this vid as it pertains, or gives people the opinion that this is in relation to how vaping is terrible and evil, granted tho you did give plenty of indication to the contrary. You did make the major topic about Evali but you failed to emphasize that out of all the patients suffering from the condition, all were consumers of THC products(whether vaping THC juice or the plant itself) irrespective of the fact that they do or don't vape e-cigarettes. The irony of the so-called traces of heavy metals found within lung samples, I have not yet found a definite source/studies or papers that proves beyond a doubt that these heavy metals are directly caused due to vaping. We as humans, who live in suburbia/cities all breath in heavy metals and toxins on a daily basis, one of the haphazard of being surrounded by motor vehicles and industry. It is a complete fallacy and misinformation to suggest that heavy metals in the lungs are due to vaping. All documents that I have read to date say 'may contain' and others that mention heavy metals and toxins state that they are way lower levels than combustible tobacco. There are way too many studies that could be done to eliminate or prove that vaping is the sole cause of lung disease. One for example could be examining people who vape and those who don't that live in a densely populated area with the same amount of road traffic and industry. Seeing as though coils for vaping are primarily made from either Kanthal, Nichrome, Stainless steel, Nickel, and Titanium it would be absolutely interesting to see what the different levels are between a non vapor and a vapor. A final note I wish to add is that, anything in our lungs that is not pure air (the type that one would find in the middle of a rain forest) is not good for anyone's health, having said that, many studies in the UK have shown that vaping from reputable and regulated sources ( and not the unknown Chinese disposable vapes ) is 90-95% safer than combustible tobacco. Also because of the embolism, I have had to have multiple Mri's every 6 months of my lungs and within the first 18 mths since starting to vape, my lungs had nearly no traces of the dreaded TAR, the damage due to 30+ yrs of smoking is evident but the tar is nearly all gone and we know that the build up of tar can cause cancer.

Like so many others, I took up vaping when I was unable to quit smoking for a second time. I had quit for 8 years before picking the habit back up and nothing was working. I smoked 4 packs a day for way too many years (starting when I was 13- up to 4 packs a day by 19). I started with Blu and other such ones, but they didn't quite do it for me. I learned about cart devices and found some juices I liked. Both were KEY. I was dual user for several months, but when I found myself completely ignoring my cigs I dropped them completely. I've been vaping for about 10 years now and I have no interest in stopping. I went from 20mg to 12. I stayed at 12 until I switched to mods. I've been at 3-6 mg for a couple years now. Regulations have made vaping much more difficult. I used to buy my e-juice on line. Now, I need to shop locally and they rarely keep flavors I like stocked. I also don't use traditional coils, but a flat mesh. I've found some sellers on-line (marketing them as something else), but they're not as good as the Vandy. If we're thinking of the children, then government needs to be consistent and do away with birthday cake flavored vodka and the likes. But no- they make too much money off of booze, I guess. And Big Tobacco is playing the long con. They helped hook kids on their devices, caused an uproar and government stepped in. I have everything I need to start making my own juices. But, I suck at math lol and would much rather not. I will if I have to though.

@@awitness4jehovah I mix my own juice. What makes it easy for me is having a 500ml Tupperware cocktail mixer. I put in 10ml of 100mg nicotine mixture. 50ml PG. 440ml VG. Then, I have 500ml of 2mg flavorless juice base. Then, in smaller 60ml containers, I mix various flavorings with the juice base and it ends up being less than 2mg, depending on how much flavoring is added. Getting the nicotine right is the crucial part. I highly recommend against using pure nicotine because it can be absorbed through the skin, is very dangerous, and takes more effort to properly mix as well as nic that has already been infused into PG or VG. Again, DO NOT USE PURE NICOTINE. A 100mg mix is still VERY potent, but is diluted enough that it will not absorb through the skin. Like I said, 10ml of 100mg nic is enough for 500ml of juice. Sit down, do the math, double check it, and then you'll have the recipe for your juice base and you won't need to do all the math again. With the flavorings, there just needs to be trial and error. The strength of all the various flavors varies, and your taste may vary, too, so trying to factor all of that into your juice recipe is complicated and annoying. Start with very small amounts and add a little more if needed. I typically put anywhere between .25ml of a flavor to 5ml into a 60ml bottle, depending on what flavor(s) is(are) being used. If you put too much flavoring in, just pour half into another bottle and top them both up with juice base. Hope this helps! Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

I was smoking cannabis everyday and wanted something easier on my lungs, but the whole vape lung thing really got me worried about the vape juice itself. But recently I bought a dry herb tabletop vape and it's been amazing! It's basically just a heating coil you pull the air through, which goes over a bowl into a standard water bubbler. The hits are smooth and the amount of coughing fits have reduced dramatically. The only thing that gets vaporized is the cannabis itself, there's no carrier oil to wonder about. But everything I hear about vaping in a health context talks about the vape juice like that's the main problem. So I'm curious what the effects of dry herb vaping cannabis is compared to standard thc vape juice and smoking it.

I'm a daily S&B Mighty user at around 1 capsule per night over the past few years. I have not experienced any pulmonary effects but I can't confirm what's going on internally either. If I had to guess I would say it's obviously not ideal compared to normal air but not overtly bad either depending on your usage patterns. I'm able to sleep extremely well and for that I'll accept a slight unknown risk. Over time, studies will likely mention dry herb vaporization and we'll know more. Lifestyle choices like your diet (avoiding processed foods and sugars) and activity are probably much more impactful long term than the negative concerns about dry herb vaporization. So for now, I'm going to enjoy my nighttime sessions. If there's a sudden health event or concern, I would switch to edible products but I would hate to give up the dosage control and timing that dry herb vaporizing gives. That's my take anyway.

They are a few things that were not mentioned in this video; first will be a significant distinction between MTL (mouth_to_lung vaping) and DL (direct_to_lung vaping). Both can be used for the intake of THC and or nicotine. THC should be a separate subject especially if we are looking at vaping as something that should help someone quit cigarettes it is an alternative less harmful way for nicotine delivery to the bloodstream with the exact intake mimic and muscle memory as combustion cigarette. If you put THC in that we are talking about a totally different substance addiction and an alternative way to "joint" usage and getting "under the influence" of an other chemical. So from the aspect of only and just less harmful way of nicotine intake, meaning replacement of combustible cigarettes with only nicotine vape, from reputable sources there is no problem with vitamin E that is needed for THC to be diluted in liquid, because nicotine, is easily in liquid diluted form without it. MTL inhale mimics 100% cigarette draw, meaning it uses the mouth cavity for partial filtration of the vape and to lower the vape temperature before it reaches the lungs. Just by that fact, inherently, it should be less harmful than DL vape intake, because you have a direct "stream" of hot vape hitting the organs fast and going deeper into the lungs hitting the lower parts of the lungs and alveoli at the much higher temperature. But ok, let's wait for more statistics about that. Another important thing is the difference in the nicotine that can be used in vape liquid; free diluted and nicotine salt. We can say in the shortest term that nicotine salt is invented to prevent the "defense" response of our body to a higher amount of nicotine, in simple terms "gaging". Meaning a person can take "stronger" and more saturated nicotine vape faster with fewer vape draws and get to the desired nicotine blood level extremely quick. A commercial example of that would be JUUL pods. Common sense dictates that free diluted nicotine, and not nicotine salt should be again inherently less harmful. Underage school and college use of vape issue? There should be any, it's ILEGAL! Uphold the law! "Reusing" pods that should be one-time use only, not changing the coil or heater when it's due to change, not using chemically free cotton for coils, using Propylene Glycol (PG), Vegetable Glycerin (VG) from not reputable sources or not adequate purity for vaping are all individual "neglects" caused by economical reasons to save money, not enough knowledge about the subject and something that should be viewed separately. Now, why I can say all that? I was a combustible cigarette smoker for 26 years using around 40 cigarettes per day. Six years now I'm an MTL vape user. My blood pressure is back to normal, the capacity of my lungs is back to normal, oxygen blood saturation is back to normal, and all other health benefits down to my hair and clothes don't stink of smoke anymore. Will the 26 years of tobacco use "bite my ass" in the future, I don't know. But what I know and feel and what my doctors are telling me is that I am in much better shape than I was 6 years ago. Use vape as it intends to be used, as a less harmful alternative and tool that will make you quit cigarettes, not as a supplement for THC use.

One of the reasons I believe vaping is somewhat healthier than smoking is the fact that cigarettes are quite radioactive! A pack of cigarettes is 100 times more radioactive than the exclusion zones in tjernobyl and fukushima due to the high contents of lead 210 and polonium 210, both radioactive substances. Smoking a pack a day is equal to having 1000 chest xrays a day, and I am pretty sure that accounts for a lot of the cases of lung cancer resulting from smoking. Its a little known fact about cigarettes and I think if people knew they would be more weary of taking it up 😅 Also, I smoked about a pack of cigarettes a day from the age of about 12-13 and when I was about 30 I started to become short of breath from just sitting around. I've always been very active and in pretty good shape despite the smoking, so that freaked me out, and i started vaping to help me quit smoking. It made a big difference for me, I quickly regained my lung capacity and didn't feel the same craving to smoke/vape all the time. After lowering the nicotine contents, it was pretty easy to quit altogether, so i can definitely recommend it as a means to reduce nicotine addiction and stop smoking. I'm in no way saying it's healthy, but it is a healthier and non-radioactive alternative to smoking cigarettes, that's for sure.

Like many others I was up to a pack a day when I started vaping, but I found myself smoking cigarettes less and less until I just didn’t like it anymore. I vaped for a couple years, with the frequency lessening throughout the day because of a hectic work schedule. Then when I would get home and have the first nicotine rush of the day and those just got overwhelming; they didn’t feel good and my heart rate would jump and I’d get dizzy. So now I’ve been nicotine free for over a year and a half

To add some points. England put out a study that said vaping compared to smoking cigarettes is about 95% safer than smoking cigarettes, that study was posted around 2019 . The reason for people coming down with EVALI, like you said, was and is because of vitamin E acetate being mixed into THC cartridges that mainly in the US were being sold onto the black market to cut product and promote profit at the expense of innocent people. That being said i have been vaping since 2016 and am now 30, with only one stay at the hospital due to covid-19. Now i do believe vaping had something to my respiratory system was compromised, but i believe it was because the propylene glycol has anti bacterial properties and was making my natural immune system nullified. Making that point, all nicotine carrying vape liquid is water soluble compared to THC liquids which are mostly fat soluble cause lipid induced pneumonia, or EVALI, which is the immediate effect of inhaling fat soluble vapors entering the lungs. And yes i not only did i quit smoking by vaping as well as continue vaping because i enjoy nicotine, doesnt mean someone cant ditch the habit entirely. I know people that quit cigarettes because of vapes and i know people that took up cigarettes to quit vaping all the time. Everyone is subjective, with their own pains, growths, and problems. For me i was a two pack a day smoker, living out of my car and in my childhood room as well as dealing with anxiety and depression. Vaping pulled me out of a hole that was only digging itself deeper and got me to a point of light that let me be who i am today. Now i may not be the most successful person, but i am able to support myself and family today as well as grow instead of be stuck smoking combustible tobacco everyday. Now when it gets to flavors, they aren't directly aimed at children. My favorite flavors to vape are mainly fruit and candy flavors. Some people prefer dessert or even soda flavored liquids. But thats getting beyond the point of the video. In my humble opinion, yes kids will experiment with what they will, but i stand my opinion that if someone is a smoker, vaping is a MUCH safer smoking alternative than still smoking or even patches or gum. Ive heard gum and patches send too much nicotine to the body and cause nightmares during sleep, but thats a whole other video. Please respect us as vapers, the true vapers dont want to impose on others rights. Much love, me

Thank you and your team for the content. I had a conversation with my (Australian) vape retailer, in regards to these on-going tests. Could you please keep in mind the variables in these tests that they do NOT include unbiased 'inhales' (into the machine) - meaning that these tests allow the disposable or non-disposable vapes run out of juice, and continue "burning" the wick that scews the data - no one vapes a dry coil, or a dry wick, so why are these 'inhales' included in the tests. Lastly, the vape community around me do not promote or condone these (illegal) disposable vapes that are sold in most corner shops - many of us are ex-smokers who use vapes to quit smoking, and eventually quit vaping by reducing the nicotine levels. Thanks again.

I've quit smoking by changing to vaping. I was smoking since ~2003, tried my 1st vaping device around 2012 (it was a cigarette like device with a purse with built-in battery) but that didn't give the same feeling as smoking so I was using both of them for a few months. After talking to persons who had high end devices I've invested in my 1st more expensive device (that was the release of Joyetech eGrip) next to that I didn't feel the need to smoke. Also I've increased the liquid's nicotine from ~6mg to 18mg (commercial liquid, not homemade). Later on I've read about the coils and that you can make your own liquid with just VG, PG and aroma's so I've bought a Joyetech mod with some huge tank and started making my first sub-ohm coils for big clouds and I've loved that. By time I was feeling the need to reduce nicotine to have more vibrant tastes for the liquid and in 2-3 yrs I was already in 1-3mg nicotine. Once I've purchased a month's pack of liquid base but accidentally it was with 0 nicotine. I was like "okey, it barely had nicotine anyway so let's try to consume it..." and by my surprise I didn't felt the need for nicotine, so I've purchased 0 nicotine for the next month too, and by time I've realized (to be accurate my girlfriend realized) that I wasn't vaping for a few days. Then it was a week, then more and more... I've "accidentally" stopped vaping in a year after purchasing 0 nicotine base liquid. :D I still miss blowing huge clouds sometimes and those great tastes but... at least I'm saving that money now.

I tell you what, I don't think vaping is nearly as bad as smoking. My niece turned me on to them, and I was able to finally quit smoking up to a pack a day without even trying. I was just using vapes for when I had dart league, and gradually started smoking the vapes more until I decided I can buy one vape (equal to a carton of cigs) for the cost of 3 packs of smokes. Plus, they don't stink and I don't have to ask if I can smoke. I actually have recommended them to everyone I know who is a smoker. I no longer get those lung loughies, nor do I have that smoker's cough. I know they still have nicotine but there's no doubt in my mind they are _a lot_ better than cigarettes.

I would get sick from the nicotine, and I didn't want the vape or a cigarette virtually all day. I woke up on the 4th day, and wanted the vape. It bothers me that the general presentations of the prevalence of EVALI in users of THC containing products is consistently represented under the generic term "vaping" without any differentiation from the vast majority of vapers using non THC containing products in order to stop smoking tobacco products. The risks of one are represented as the risks of both when anyone who can understand statistics can see a clear difference in risk levels. Meanwhile the main point that concerns the general population of risks of tobacco vs vaping is always under represented in these discussions and the ever present jargon of "more research needs to be done" is used as a smoke screen to keep the fear present in our minds that vaping is just as dangerous as smoking actual tobacco, when anyone who has gone from smoking tobacco to vaping knows that their quality of life has almost universally been dramatically improved by the change. I really wish i could honestly believe that these sorts of inputs from the medical experts on social media and general media platforms were purely altruistic in intent, sadly money sways saints and sinners equally, and our government has a large vested interest in preserving sales of tobacco containing products considering how massive the big tobacco companies are compared to small time vape manufacturers. Tax income from tobacco containing products is massive and doing anything to drastically reduce this would put a large dent in the governments budget.

I was thinking the exact same thing. THC vapers are such a small minority and most people are smoking for nicotine. I don’t agree with your sentiments about govt involvement. The govt has made it clear as day that smoking kills. How that is protecting big tobacco tax dollars is beyond belief. I don’t think you’re considering the general public. The vast majority of the public would be outraged if anything happened to tobacco product availability. Why should the govt tell me what I can do with my adult body. From a health perspective cigarettes should be illegal there is enough evidence to support this but the citizens would outrage. Therefore I don’t think any assets from taxes are being protected more so the freedom of adults to experiment with adult drugs is being protected.

I switched to vaping and felt so much better and have been continuously vaping for years now and I feel no negative effects and feel very healthy, I breathe enormously easier, not just some small change but a huge one , of course I haven't actually seen my lungs but they feel great compared to before and vaping doesn't seem to bother them. I also smoked cannabis for a long time and still do but prefer to Dab instead and vape distillate now and have felt no negative impact from any of it. I am interested to see true medical evidence though that isn't influenced by some narrative being pushed. smoked, vaped, and quit...and i will definitely say I am with you that switching to vaping was life changing for me as i quit getting pneumonia and bronchitis every winter. However, there is also a very noticeable difference between vaping and not inhaling any substance. Didn't think that was possible, as I was under the impression my lungs were back to normal. I felt great and everything. But compared to how i feel now, I wasn't as 100% as i thought. Not to spout facts or anything, only my own personal experience. Even if there's no long term effects, there is still effects, otherwise there would be literally no point in doing so other than trying to look cool. Most people i know have their own reasons for vaping and inhaling THC rather than taking edibles, and none of them are doing for the looks...so i honestly believe people have legitimate reasons why they continue. And to each their own really. I just don't see myself ever going back, simply because of how i feel in the moment now is better, pain and all. I need something for pain, but i don't like using a crutch. That is what vaping became, as well as alcohol...which i stopped as well. I do want something that is not going to take away my pain, only to add something else. Which, because i stopped, the difference in my lungs would be noticeable. I have a highly addictive personality (aka i don't have enough self-control to moderate lol), so edibles is out the door unfortunately.

It’s great to see an unbiased look into vaping. I smoked for 15 years and used vaping to quit back in 2017 and it was the best decision I made. Now I work at a vape shop where our aim is helping others like my boss and I quit smoking. Seeing a rise in teens vaping disposable vapes especially here in Australia where they are illegally sold (the sale of nicotine vaping products is illegal) is definitely concerning though as it creates an unnecessary addiction that could be more addictive than smoking as the disposables you find here are only 50mg in strength compared to the 3mg-6mg you would find in a refillable subohm vape. I’ve had people come into my shop who are addicted to them with shaky hands because their dealer doesn’t have any and they’re desperate for that big hit of nic. Right now there is a huge push to ban recreational vaping in Australia that looks more grim for us everyday and the unfortunate part is that if shops like ours shut down that it will only cause the illegal sales of disposables to everyone including children to increase tenfold.
