Did a box of nickels over the weekend. Found 3 buffalo nickels and 3 silver. Then found 3 silver dime in a box of dimes.

In the year, I have been hunting boxes coins. Kind of a newbie, use to sort through my pocket change before debt cards. Those are the best boxes I've had so far. Normally I find one silver dime and either a buffalo or a silver nickel. Wheat pennies average 10 a box. Tho I had a great box two weeks ago. It had 180 of them. Felt really blessed that day.

Went through a couple of boxes of nickels this weekend and found several 2009 D’s and a couple of 2024 D’s. But was really surprised by finding a UK penny in a roll. And I also found a 2004 1 Krono. And then I found a Canadian nickel. That nickel said for the date; 1867-1992. I also found a 1937 buffalo nickel just like you did. Cool Beans, haha That 1939 S is awesome. I’ve found quite a few 1939’s but they’ve all been Philly

Hahaha, that is cool beans.. I like getting foreign coins, even if they are practically worthless.. it's just fun to me. I have a container full of them. You got some pretty good stuff, but you didn't get a silver either.. bummer for that

Yeah, I've not heard of the Roosevelt, but then I'm not a collector or numismatist at all. I don't keep low mintages, key dates, varieties, etc... I really only keep pennies for the Copper, nickels for the Copper & Nickel, and virtually anything else for its Silver content. Having said that, it's interesting to see what people find related to the variety of things people can and do look for in the pennies & nickels. Congrats on finding that '37 Buffalo nickel...you're the only one I know who finds so many dated Buffalos. Cool to see that '39 S show up too! I do keep those Canadian coins because a lot of their coins were actually Nickel bullion (99.9%). I probably have 5 or 10 pounds of that Canadian Nickel bullion. I keep those in plastic zipper bags on top of my Copper Canadian pennies, which fill about a 1 gallon pickle jar about 2/3rds of the way. Looks like a decent box. Did they ever come up and pick up your packages? 🤣😂 Take care & keep hoarding those pennies & nickels!

Hello and good morning, I woke up and checked my phone. It's 4:30, so I hope to go back to sleep in a bit. I have found some pretty good stuff, but I'm not finding the silver. That's really what I want the most. LoL I went through 2 boxes of halves last night and nothing... Ugh . We finally got ourselves dug out and went to the post office ourselves. And no, the mail didn't run again today. It's been going on 2 weeks, it's ridiculous. I also called about dimes yesterday, and they don't have any. I hope I didn't miss a bag during the week we didn't get out. Well, I better roll over and go back to sleep. Good night

I have found some pretty good stuff, I just can't seem to get the silver. We came to this house in July, kitty ran off after the 2nd day, and we've never seen him again. But we are hoping someone took him in. Behind us is mostly senior patio homes. It's very possible someone took him in. He's a very fine looking cat, and no collar. Cheers

Set up some plastic cups and sort them by date. Then roll them up and mark them. Some day you may be glad you did !!!

Hello from canada i hunt nickels up here, put aside my us nickels, the best i done was a 1919 Philadelphia but has a p punch under the last 9 and a l a little bit to the right of the 9. I have found a 39 Philadelphia, but it wasn't a henning nickel. Also i have found some 2009 p and d over time. If you ever find any cdn nickels look for these ones, 1970.90 bare beaver, 91 96 attach 6, 97 and 2000p and 2001p , that one i found some extra blob under the queens neck. Also there are some that has something weird around the date extra metal or date struck wrong. The other ones you have to look them up to find out more about them.

Phil O'delfia... never met the guy as I did more the middle of PA coming back from NH (and did NJ out of DE going). >>:=p Was able to finally find out on nickels. Per US Mint for 2024: 32.88M D & 79.92M P. Real low vs 2023 which had 734.8M D & 692.6M P, but semi on-par with '09 (46.8M D & 39.84M P). I doubt it's an issue of the metal itself, 10¢/25¢/50¢ use CuNi in their compositions, but demand may just not be there, plus with the economy, a lot of coins from home jars likely are being cashed in/spent. Update on dimes as you mentioned those, USM figures show for 2024: 248M D & 307M P, so not sure where the 75M rumor may be arising from, but this is even 20-25% what normal mintage is ~1.3-1.5B. WTG on the oldest two you found, that was pretty neat!

Thank you ... I'm scratching my head why the article said 70 million on the D, dimes. It was a recent article. Those are the numbers I got on the nickels. Earlier an article said 40+ million on the P, but now we have the final number I bought a box of 2024 P nickels from a guy, just when the final numbers came out, so the price dropped pretty fast. Found a nickel very light strike in god we trust, no date. on the back united states of America is very light, looks like a 2005 with the buffalo.
