I wish more parents/carers knew this, oh course exams results and academic are important but I think a childs emotional and social development is actually more crucial to support and help develop like their confidence, teamwork, communication skills, and overall help them to become a kind caring person with good manners 😊 xx

So true and so important. More teachers are needed that think like this. It's become such a hectic chaotic unpleasurable job for so many- for so many reasons. I cry when I hear teachers like this. Never stop being kind and believing in those kids

I am a horrible tester, always have since I was young. I always understood the work and made great grades, but when it came to standardized tests I had anxiety and would blank. Because of all of that it has helped me be the mom I am who doesn't give two poops on the scores because I know they mean nothing. I always ensure my children get wnough sleep and eat prior to test days, but on our way to school we do our affirmations, prayers, and on those test days I say all anyone can as of you is your best. If you do your best I'm proud of you because no one can ask you to do better than you best. You are smart and no test can measure that. I truly love ya'lls podcast/youtube because it gives me an insight of how as a parent I can help their teachers help my children better and help advocate for teachers better. So thank ya'll for getting this out there.

We need more teachers like you. I feel some teachers just don't get it or some don't want to get to know the kids.

I wish more teachers had this mentality. I understand the pressures and expectations that teachers go through and it’s not far, but those little things help troubled students today become great people tomorrow. I still remember every teacher that did stuff like that for me. I unfortunately may not remember their names but I remember what they did.

oh my goodness! thank you, I don't know how long I've been trying to say this to people. Schools in Australia aren't listening, my sons school keeps dismissing me and then they say they will help him and never do. Yet when his at home doing his homework he does it perfectly. Thank you for sharing this. x

It makes a difference for sure. I remember in elementary school, I had this teacher with big curly brown hair, I hated her bc she would make me so anxious and nervous all the time. I remember one specific spelling quiz where I misspelled a word by one letter, even though I knew it, she timed us and I was panicked. She gave me an F. And she recommended to my parents that I be held back. My mom, being a teacher herself, said “no. Maybe you’re just a bad teacher because she knows this stuff. I know she does. She has no issue at home and she has no issue in other classes. What environment are you providing for your students?” She wasn’t at the school the next yr. Idk why. But, it really does make a difference. And I always thought I was bad at math. But I had one math teacher in high school who worked with me one on one and said “you’re panicking over the numbers. I know you know this. Just relax, breathe, take your time” and she was right. I aced every math test after that.

I was taking a course last semester called teaching math for grades 1-8, and my professor had us read a chapter during the first week of class and one quote has stuck with me since, “95% of all people are capable of doing advanced math but not all are given the opportunity to learn.” When we come across students who are struggling to comprehend what is being taught it is important to use the “yet” mentality. Ex: this student doesn’t understand x,y, or z YET”

We need to get this message out to more parents. If kids can’t regulate their emotions and learn the social skills to function in society, no amount of “book learning” will make up for that loss. Teachers need to help parents understand this. Too many simply don’t seem to these days.

Unfortunately not all kids have this. I had no friends. No parents who were emotional available. I raised myself.

My son is so the opposite. Most times he aces tests but refuses to participate or do homework or class work fully. Or he will do the homework but just not turn it in. All the teachers asked was why isnt he medicated. Medication didn’t make him turn in any more work. But it did mess with his sleep, his temperament, his eating, and overall joy. Kids need someone, besides a parent (sometimes), to tell them to take their time and then we can talk about it. And some parents are literally trying everything in every way possible to get their kids to realize that they are smart and they do know things. So I might have teared up hearing there are teachers out there that care.

Why is only one hand painted ?
@depressedanimelover_

Probably because he did it himself and as someone who sometimes paints their own nails it’s really difficult to get the right hand so I just give up sometimes and only have my left hand painted😂
