Used coffee grounds around the base of your blueberry bushes help and safe for nearby plants. You can also let the grounds sit in water a couple days and water the plants with it. Not sure about blackberries, but I know first hand raspberries are not picky with soil ph. They are growing all around my black walnut trees and others are growing next to my blueberries. 2 very different soil types.

I'm wondering if anything I do would help very much as far as changing the pH, because of the buffer power of my clay.

Great info! Think about containerizing them for a year or 2 then plant them where you can grow other acid loving plants.

That's a good idea! It seems obvious now that you've said it, but it didn't occur to me.

Use HolleyTone fertilizer (espoma), Soil Acidifier (espoma), and pine bark mulch (nothing colored) on top of your soil.

Might be worth retesting with distilled water. Keep up the good work!

Thanks! My water tested at 6.9, which is within a good margin of error of neutral given the non-high-level equipment I'm using. But that's a good note!

I would be careful using filter water for a test my tap water most times is about 7.0 but after I used my Brita filter it came out to 5.0 I first thought my meter was off so I bought the test drops and sure enough, it was 5.0 I almost killed my plant using my Brita filter.
@AuxhartGardening2 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, that's a good point. I took it for granted that mine was testing right about at 7. I'll upvote for visibility and put a note at the top.

@@AuxhartGardening then you could treat the soil in a new place and not effect the raspberries.
